@capguncowboy if my math is right, 2 eneloop aas won't charge many modern phones fully even once. I love batteries, led flashlights, and solar gadgetry but am not even remotely tempted to buy.
@capguncowboy Well it is $18 instead of $24 this time around. And the flashlight is fairly bright all things considered. Seems to work fine with my 5 year old clamshell (yeah I know not a good test of what it will or will not work well with). I find the flashlight useful in my car since none of the interior lights work. I just leave is sliding around the dash so I always will have light in there at night. That was a big part of the consideration to buy it to begin with.
@username I am sure replacing at least one of the bulbs is cheaper but I also have a short that I am unwilling, at this point in time, to pay to find since it affects nothing else and a quick look couldn't find it.
hey meh, I bought some new floor lamps. could you please put back up those remote controlled wall socket things so I can turn them off once I'm all cozy in bed? I didn't get to buy any of those in time last time they were on sale.
@boygenius1991 I'd love to see them come up for sale again! I bought them and use one every day. Turns on the fan in the summer, the heater when it gets cold.
I bought one of these last time. I set it about 5 feet outside my patio so it would be in the sun and charge. I went to check on it about 30 minutes later and someone had snagged it. I hate humans.
If the eneloops included with this panel are really only good for 1500 cycles as stated in the description, they must be pretty old. They're also lower capacity than current gen eneloops.
@RedOak That just confirms what I said then. HR-3UTGA Eneloops are the older 2nd generation Sanyo ones that came out in 2011. From what I'm seeing they're rated at 1900mAh min. Current 4th generation Panasonic models are rated for 2100 cycles at 2000mAh.
EDIT: It seems both generations were rated at 1900mAh min/2000mAh typ. They just changed which rating type they slapped on the box.
Guys is it just me who thinks meh.com sell things that are discarded by other re-sellers? Just like Panasonic SolarSmart which has 4 - 6 reviews on Amazon, and the better portable solar chargers on Amazon have 500 to 800 reviews and cost around the same. Why meh why?
Wouldn't such a charging device require me to go outdoors or allow sunlight into my dwelling? Doesn't that defeat the whole point of having a cellular device? I'm so confused.
I bought one of these last time, but it seems like it was misplaced and I forgot that I bought it until it came up again. Maybe I'll find the box buried in the garage somewhere.
As for the description... 2006 Kia Spectra? I have one of those too.
The energy on earth comes from about 4 places I can think of off the top of my head: the sun, the ever-so-slowly cooling center of the earth, radioactive decay of elements in the earth, and the (relatively) small amount of energy we rob from the moon's orbit.
@jeffca51 And all those originally were part of OTHER star matter, is that right? We are leftovers from dead stars. (Not saying you're wrong, just confirming.)
Hey, hey, now, don't be thinking that you have to give away any unsold Wisps at Burning Man. Offer them up for sale again, my daughter went through the ones I bought from here last time. I'm actually having to buy them through Amazon for her now since you got her addicted. Yep, that's right, she's got the Colgate Wisp monkey on her back. You know, there's sow's ears and then there's silk purses. There's shinola and then there's shit.
I'm from eastern time zone and I get my meh alert at midnight. I was in LA and got it at 9:00pm. Wish I got it at 9pm at home, or maybe I don't wish it because I would by a lot more. I wake up with 6 or seven alerts and meh is not my first and sometimes even gets skipped. If I got it at 9 I would look at it immediately. West coasters would get it at 6, probly not bad for them either. Just a thought. I guess then you couldn't say new deal every day at midnight, but it would still be midnight somewhere!

I'm missing that speaker dock already.
Is this worth getting? Anyone that bought one last time want to chime in ?

@capguncowboy idk what brand I got but they make a high pitched ring that is beyond my ability to tolerate.

@djslack Copied from July copied from June:
"RedOak said Wed, Jun 17th 2015 at 12:35am eastern: From the manual, "HR-3UTGA" Eneloops. That would be 2,000mAh-rated for each AA."
I'm no electrical engineer, but might this be a nicely linear thing, the capacity @ its voltage?
?: 2 x 2,000 = 4,000 mAh @ 1.2 volts . . . 5 volts / 1.2 = 4 . . . 4,000 / 4 = 1,000 mAh @ 5 volts needed by a phone? (ignoring losses)
As you note, that is only a thirst booster for a phone.
@Kidsandliz i bet the interior light-bulb is cheaper than $20
@username I am sure replacing at least one of the bulbs is cheaper but I also have a short that I am unwilling, at this point in time, to pay to find since it affects nothing else and a quick look couldn't find it.
It's battery charger Wednesday. BCW.
@heartny Gretchen, stop trying to make BCW happen! It’s not going to happen!
Charge!! Anyone else get a charge out of this???
@AttyVette UNCHARGE! I am drained over this one.
@AttyVette if I moon over it, it probably wouldn't work.

@boygenius1991 I'm a buyer if these come up again
I want another knife!
I want that turd looking knife again.
@TehChrisReed POOP KNIFE WEDNESDAY
If you could assure me that these don't make a high pitched ring the whole time they charge, I might add to my ridiculous battery collection.
Does it Seem irk is irked about this :)? Seems it's "port table" port charger
I bought one of these last time. I set it about 5 feet outside my patio so it would be in the sun and charge. I went to check on it about 30 minutes later and someone had snagged it. I hate humans.
@MesmerLab At that rate it would have to be stolen 30 times before it could fully charge...
Meh oh meh this is "
light" years ahead ..maybe not
You traitorous rat! Who caved?
@jqubed

@DalllasTower That's how Meh gets them so cheap. Last year's stuff, tomorrow's price.
When I need to keep my phone charged all day, I just steal electricity from my employer.
@editorkid Stop leeching power from my yurt. Get back to work!
@MehAmphetamine what's up with all of this yurt talk I've heard around the internet lately?
@JonT I don't know what yurtalkin about.
@JonT I know people that are actually building and planning to live in a yurt full time. I'm curious how they'll do in winter here.
@Thumperchick - I expect they'll do fine, since yurts are common in Mongolia which averages below freezing temperatures over half the year.
@KDemo who said you could bring facts to the internet?
@Thumperchick Haha -sorry, I knew something was wrong with my post.
Do these solar output via USB w/o any batteries inside? I'd use this to cycle through and charge multiple battery packs
I wish they would sell those usb drives again. Not even half an hour and they were sold out.

I found it! Well, my wife did. She had stuffed the box in a cabinet when it arrived and forgot to give it to me. :p
"Made in America, assembled in Japan"
I've never, ever seen this on any product.
@Thinkerer the photovoltaic cells are probably made at SolarWorld.
@Thinkerer cars, man. American parts, assembled in May-hee-coe.

@defibrillator We are stardust, we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to ... meh.
wtf you mean 'phone not included?"
I've been looking for a long time for a good solar charger to carry with me on long day hikes and camping trips. This is not it.
Next Phish meeting I'm definitely taking a ginourmous charger to service all those selfie obsessed young folks. Giggetty!
My wife has a "chargey-hole."

Love the Ozymandian photo of Irk in the desert!

TL;DR - not sold out. Buy it.
Again because camping.
mostly-fruity-clock
image search found a slightly disturbing one, depending on your child-birth preferences (with or without cigar?).
two-fer tuesday for sure - two-fer-$12? not as bad as the pathetic bike lights from yesterday.
I bought this last time around and took it to Burning Man. I charged it and never used it once. YAY.
