5My son, @spcial_snwflake, plays this stupid game and is looking for people to play with. He is bronze, almost silver, whatever that means. Anyone interested? (He tells me it’s not stupid. Whatever.)

No, but I do want to sit down with him and have a talk about his @name
@mfladd I tried but he won’t listen to me.
I don’t play, but I strangely read a lot of articles about it.
@dashcloud We have a neighbor that’s close to the top 500 they tell me.
I play. XBOX milkypleasures
@connorbush He plays on a PC. Does that make a difference?
@sammydog01 Yeah. Cross-platform play isn’t supported for pretty much anything, even if the same game is available on the platforms. Xbox players can’t play with PS or PC players.
That said, mindsets and the like can be different for the different playerbases anyways. The whole “PC Master Race” thing is a big example. Not sure if your son is one of those people though.
@Mehsturbator Rocketleague
@connorbush He just bought Rocket League. I hope it makes him scream less.
@Mehsturbator Problem with cross-platform gaming is PC gamers cheat by hacking the game’s code. I used to do this on our old Tandy computer by changing the text responses to include curse words or changing the sound files to be fart noises for some games like Scorched Earth. I was a child and I figured out how to do that without the Internet. I reckon it’s very easy to change a PC game’s code now.
They also have custom macro-enabled gaming peripherals and such that give an unfair advantage to anyone who doesn’t buy all that specialized gaming hardware. Easier for PC gamers to connect to custom servers that run modded versions of the game. Bottom line is PC gamers don’t like fair competition because they aren’t as skilled.
@medz is this a joke? Game code is server-side 99% of the time playing multiplayer titles. You maybe can cheat by modifying the client, but you will get banned, and very quickly. Blizzard especially is ruthless in this regard.
Anyways, gaming today is nothing like what you did on your Tandy. Not even close.
@medz Also, consoles have auto-aiming because a controller can’t keep up with a good PC mouse. Some games are better on console, some are better on PC.
There is definitely an unfair advantage for PC gamers, but it’s the hardware, not software. For one, the average gaming PC is more powerful than the average console, allowing it to process the game and video faster. A little latency is huge. While .04 seconds doesn’t seem like much, that’s a lot in the gaming world. The mouse is also a huge advantage over the thumbstick on a controller.
Blizzard is even upset that some players have been using a mouse and keyboard on Overwatch and have been working to put a stop to it.

There’s been a rumor online for the past decade or so about cross-platform gaming. The rumor is the Microsoft put 10 elite console gamers against 10 average PC gamers and the console gamers had their asses handed to them. Of course, like all internet rumors, it can’t be verified.
I do have a buddy that plays XBOne and is quite good. We played COD4 together, him on his XB controller through his PC and me on my PC with a keyboard and mouse. It wasn’t even close - but I was pretty far from average in my day.
Overwatch is awesome o.o
@jbartus totally not as detailed as I intended. I have it on the PC, can’t wait for the new Heroes D. Va skin
@jbartus I will ask him what that means.

I’d be down to play with him on PC but it’s too bad I don’t own the game
I love Overwatch

Lucio is my jam!
@clonetek Lucio is in my top 4 played, so much fun booping enemies around while keeping the team alive.
I play casually/socially on PC most weekday evenings. It’s how I stay in touch with many friends, actually. I’ll never be competitive but it’s fun and sometimes I contribute to the team in ways that feel good.
@sammydog01 Forgot to post this earlier for you: http://kotaku.com/an-essential-glossary-for-overwatch-players-1794009282
So now you can sort of pretend you know what you are talking about.
