Irk, in the modern English, means, "to be annoyed or disgusted."

This word, which first appeared during the middle age, was actually came from old Norse word, yrkja, as Vikings migrated to England between from ninth century to eleventh century to.

However, the interesting thing is that the word yrkja originally meant, "to work."

How did that happen? Who cares! What matters is that we now have a great word, Irk!
