I would have been all over this, until I looked at the Amazon reviews for other Olympia USA products. Basically everything they make (if reviewed at all) is around 3 stars. Too bad, since a solid backpack with a padded waist strap, at a Meh discount, would be much appreciated.
@Odysseus1001 I was thinking the same thing, but the few reviews are for luggage products, which… eh… maybe not the same designer and/or factory. Personally, I’m still on the fence to take the gamble for $30. I think I’ll sleep on it and see if anyone chimes in with info
@Yoda_Daenerys I’m one of the dumbasses who pays for VMP, and I use it at least once a month for wine, so I’m calling it free shipping and no fancy GIFs will change my mind. Maybe I should drink less wine, though…
No purple? For that reason alone, Meh.
I do already have a purple CamelBak. Great bag. But this should still come in purple so I could at least be tempted.
Camping brings to mind the experience of sleeping on the dirt in the worlds smallest bed. No Internet. A little extra time in the morning since there is not a sink or shower. Did I mention no Internet? After beef jerky and a radish for breakfast, it’s time for a hike. One’s favorite activity on a few hours sleep, unwashed, a little hungry, and maybe a need to use the bathroom. Oh, that’s right: No bathroom. Once it’s dark one really becomes a bit misty-eyed about electricity (and the Internet). Makes one want to plan that hiking trip next month (only because you truly hate your friends and family).
@ManBehindPlan I have an awesome Kelty pack with the Woot! logo embroidered on it. I use it regularly and really like it. I do wish they had offered a larger one as that one isn’t quite large enough to be a work bag for me.
So if I wanted a backpack for a “grab and go and never come back” scenario, where I might have to be wearing it in not great conditions (maybe wilderness, maybe urban), where should I look?
@dam091 Without knowing anything else about your needs,wants, and expectations–the 5.11 RUSH 72. 5.11 makes pretty good products, it’s a healthy sized bag, has PALS, and Otherwise you really need to narrow down what you want.
I received this bag today. One of my purchasing decisions was Meh’s reported weight of 1 lb. this is quite wrong, the bag is 2lb, 12 oz or 2.75 lbs. I looked for other references on the web before purchasing and could find no one else with a weight listed. So, I’m sad this is nearly 3 times the supposed weight as I bought it for a child’s daypack.
Regarding the bag, it does seem well-made. There is a hydration system opening sewn into the back and a clip to hold the hose on the right chest strap. There is a mesh bridge to hold the pack away from your back so your back doesn’t get (as) sweaty.
There is one large interior pocket and a mesh/elastic pouch in that to hold the hydration bladder against the wall closest to your back.
There is a small/thin pocket on the flap/other wall furthest from your back with sewn in pockets for small items.
There is an external ‘pouch’ unzippered pocket external to that, and then the smaller pocket with that funky middle of the pack zipper you see in the photos.
Plenty of room for change of clothes/snacks, etc in the bag interior even after bladder is installed.
Hydration system compatible, but not included.
Hope this helps anyone else make a purchasing decision should Meh resell it.

No camo?? I don’t want Bigfoot to see me!
@phendrick Nor the pot growers.

@Odysseus1001 @Superllama7 or is it really $35? factoring free shipping into every purchase will …
/image suck you in
/youtube the lemmings all sing along
/giphy “should i stay or should i go now?”

@Superllama7 @Yoda_Daenerys and hopefully you are in an area that meh doesn’t have to ding you for sales tax.
@Superllama7 @Yoda_Daenerys …and not to put too fine a point on it, you are a me(h)mber but not a VMP according to your name badge…
Man, the IRK bags sure are getting fancy
No purple? For that reason alone, Meh.
I do already have a purple CamelBak. Great bag. But this should still come in purple so I could at least be tempted.
The outdoor backpacks only showing the outside. How appropriate. It is good to see Meh fully revovered from the birthday party to be Meh again.
@hchavers yep, 'must indicate there’s truly nothing, nothing whatsoever but Texas air inside.
@RedOak Don’t open in California or New York, and definitely not in a safe space!
Hmmm… I wonder where people will write their comments for the pole question?
For the record, I only camp in hotels with at least 3 stars, so rain does not stop me!

@jewelshound - Some wisdom from a friend: the world is your bathroom.
@norconkm As long as their is toilet paper. Not a leaf. Maybe Charmin.
@jewelshound I’m starting to wonder whether the internet is available in this scenario…
@Dave great write-up. If I needed a bag, I would have bought one just based on the story.
No hydration pack compatibility = pass
@SaintO It looks like they thought of you, although there’s not a lot of interior space afterwards, I think.
Does it have a laptop pocket? I don’t necessarily need a hiking bag, but a waterproof laptop backpack is useful!
@Sompom Costco has one now for $40 in store. Fits 17" laptops too.
What is that vertical zipper on the front for?
@Zaratexas Likely there’s a small pocket on the front which is accessed via that zipper.
I was sold until I read the comments, now I’m on the fence also. Help.
Sigh. If I didn’t already have eight (8!) backpacks I bought on meh…
I miss the Granite Gear bags from Woot! - they make an excellent bag

MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!

@dam091 How much duct tape and lime will you be carrying?
@Konraden but I don’t know what I want
@therealjrn what’s the lime for?
@dam091 When the shit hits the fan, you’ll see.
