@haydesigner@theonlybuster All the “vintage” stuff is cool again. Regretting giving away stuff I traded in or put in an electronics recycle bin.
I do still have a newer iPod in the about-1.5-inch square format with screen with clip which was cool. Sorry I got rid of my older ones. Also obsolete now; there are no more iPods.
@jhoytphoto they linked to a set of replacement filters though, not made by the same company but there are a couple different filters on Amazon that are compatible with this purifier.
@jhoytphoto Replacement filters are available here along with motors in a special bundled package of just $49.99 per set. Which judging from the most recent reviews, you will likely need within 1 to 2 years, so best stock up!
@jhoytphoto@kuoh Expecting a customer to replace an AC motor in an air filter as if it’s a consumable part is new. That is above and beyond typical planned obsolescence.
@jhoytphoto@kuoh “That is a new level of planned obsolescence” in my above reply was directly referring to the concept of expecting the consumer to replace an AC motor in an air filter, which is absolutely true.
@jhoytphoto@PooltoyWolf The only expectation is that the motor will fail. They all fail, eventually. However, you may be reading more into this thread than I originally expected.
@Pufferfishy Yeah, I looked at the review photos and none of them look even slightly like this. I wonder if they stopped selling a product, but decided to label this a ‘variant’ of it to take advantage of the existing reviews. Sus.
@yakkoTDI haha that was a good one. Nah baby will be fresh and clean. I just don’t know anything about this stuff and i am hoping to get something that will keep the air clean for the kids but there are so many options and terms and filters so just need a little guidance lol.
@aboodii@yakkoTDI it’s good to let your kids get a little dirty (to build up future resistance).
Unless you’re in a filthy or dusty area (near endless coal fires or a house with 12 cats as examples) where the incredible amount of “particles in the air” creates a very-real choking hazard. At that point, close the windows and build as many filters as possible so the smoke or fur or dander that does leak through gets trapped by the filter.
The “filter words” to keep in mind:
Much like a faucet water filter has layers (coal, sand, metal), air filters have a metal/plastic mesh layer to grab big lumps (fur) like a screen door stops insects, a coal/carbon layer to grab smells, sometimes an electric-static layer to grab smaller dust (like a Swiffer brush uses static), and finally a HEPA certified paper/cotton layer like the ones in surgical masks or construction masks that’s a really fine mesh layer to block microscopic germs.
You need to change out the HEPA and carbon filters because they will get clogged. They can be washed, but it’s more trouble than it’s worth; imagine washing your paper towels out to reuse them and hoping they don’t break during the scrub.
HEPA rated filters trap germs (mold too)
Carbon filters trap smells (cigars, farts)
Static filters tend to be metallic parts of the machine with a little electric current running across them (to create that static cling for dust and hair).
And then there’s the visible-to-the-eye mesh (plastic or metal) that really prevents bigger sharper things from poking holes in the other layers.
You can DIY filters if you buy bigger ones (for industrial air conditioners or the like) and saw out the right shapes (and tape the edges together; the carbon layer will be “saw-dusty” when cut).
@pakopako thank you for taking the time to write that. While I usually research stuff like this, I’ve been very busy so this information is extremely valuable, helpful, and much appreciated.
I’m in…I need one for my basement. For some reason, old guys (me) sweat a lot when working out, which produces a not-too-pleasant aroma. /showme morbid-delightful-turtle
@tohar1 look for carbon filtration systems for pot farms and processing rooms. None of the home filtration systems have enough carbon to make a difference.

I went to purchase and told me try to process payment again so I did and it loaded forever and said success review order and had two separate orders showing and u charged me two times in account I will most definitely have a negative balance and daily late fees sadly I really hope me pushing the cancellation dies the job and not take my money cuz I’m sure they won’t pay my late fees that being the website problems with payment
@troy Is the warranty with Meh? If not, then I don’t have a warranty because Okaysou is bankrupt. I went to their website, and there is no place to register the air purifier.

I miss those iPod shuffles. I still have an old one, but the battery is SOL.
@haydesigner Me too!
@haydesigner Battery replacement for those is surprisingly easy. And a replacement battery is only about $15 on Ebay/Amazon.

You’re gonna need plenty of these with all the coal power plants starting back up because of “AI”.
/showme Drunk cat relaxing nice and cool with Hepa filters running whilst AI caused climate change reaks havoc outside.
@DrunkCat That Alfred guy ruins everything.
@DrunkCat I thought the coal plants were starting back up due to A1 not AI.
@DrunkCat @Eron It’s because there’s been a sudden demand on steak sauce since Linda McMahon was interviewed on a completely unrelated topic.
@DrunkCat A fresh smelling environment might help you win them back. Get a bunch of these to remove your noxious shits smell.

anyone know if these take the same replacement filters as the similarly sized Coways?
tried looking for replacement filters, not available amazon, company website will not connect.
in essence, no bargain, sorry
@jhoytphoto they linked to a set of replacement filters though, not made by the same company but there are a couple different filters on Amazon that are compatible with this purifier.

KuoH
@jhoytphoto @kuoh Wait, replacement motors? Like, the fan motor? That isn’t usually considered a replaceable part…
@jhoytphoto @kuoh Where’s here? (for the filters)
@jhoytphoto @kuoh Duh, found it above.
@jhoytphoto Where Amazon? Amazon.Timbuktu? Because at Amazon.com they have a lot of filters going from $26 up
@jhoytphoto @PooltoyWolf The motor also comes secured and wired to a complete replacement housing in case the buyer is not mechanically inclined.
KuoH
@jhoytphoto @kuoh Do…do they expect the motor to fail…?
@jhoytphoto @PooltoyWolf Yes, ideally outside of the warranty period.
KuoH
@jhoytphoto @kuoh That is a new level of planned obsolescence.
@jhoytphoto @PooltoyWolf New? Where have you been for the last 30 to 40 years?
KuoH
@jhoytphoto @kuoh Expecting a customer to replace an AC motor in an air filter as if it’s a consumable part is new. That is above and beyond typical planned obsolescence.
@jhoytphoto @PooltoyWolf But that wasn’t the question you asked nor the expectation.
KuoH
@jhoytphoto @kuoh “That is a new level of planned obsolescence” in my above reply was directly referring to the concept of expecting the consumer to replace an AC motor in an air filter, which is absolutely true.
Sorry for any confusion?
@jhoytphoto @PooltoyWolf The only expectation is that the motor will fail. They all fail, eventually. However, you may be reading more into this thread than I originally expected.

@jhoytphoto @kuoh Just annoyed at society’s continual slide further and further into wastefulness. Nothing personal.
@jhoytphoto @kuoh @PooltoyWolf
I believe he’s saying just buy another whole unit as a backup …
@jhoytphoto @kuoh @Kyeh That would make so much more sense!

Okay, say you.
But exactly WHO are you, again?
I got really exciting thinking that speaker docks were back.
@jsh139 I thought Meh scored some older ipods.
If it had a huge, glowing red center I absolutely would have bought one.

@aboodii If your baby is dusty please bathe it.

I just found out that this company filed for bankruptcy when trying to register for their 2-year warranty. Thanks a lot, Meh.
@jinnovator1 This is why we advertised it with a 90 day warranty.
@troy Is the warranty with Meh? If not, then I don’t have a warranty because Okaysou is bankrupt. I went to their website, and there is no place to register the air purifier.
@jinnovator1 Yep, the warranty is with us!
I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase. Great price, fast shipping and delivery. High quality product.
