Oh hi there! It's been a while.

60

Hey y’all, @JonT here!

So…how are y’all doing? You look good! Have you lost weight? Is that a new haircut?

So…what’s new?

FYI: this is going to end up being a stupid-long post, so either buckle in or jump to the TL;DR.

If you’re newish to these parts and don’t know who I am, I used to be the Community Manager for these very forums (and the rest of the Mediocre empire). I posted discussion topics and news, dropped the ban hammer when necessary, and helped put together the first five or so Fuku/Fukobukuros, in addition to a bunch of other odds and ends like making videos with @chadp, @moose, and @hollboll (one of my favorite parts).

First, I want to apologize for not following through on the promise I made that I would still hang around the forums and participate all the time.

As it turns out, when it’s been your job to do something for hours and hours every single day, as fun and cool as it is, it’s hard to keep doing that thing when you’re not being paid to do it anymore. That isn’t meant as a slight to y’all, I still believe that you’re the best online community I’ve ever been a part of.

On top of that I think I just needed some distance. Leaving was a tough choice for me.

Then I had to deal with some health issues that required some intense surgery and a long recovery. I’m still working through the end of it and even though I’m fine now, it was all-encompassing for a few months there and I didn’t feel like interacting much at all while I was still in the thick of it.

Now that my excuses for not participating on the forums are out of the way, I want to give some updates on what else I’ve been up to.

The new job is ok, but it’s safe to say it’s not as fun. Not a single person has sent me beer or toilet paper. However, I am working on transitioning to a new role that I’m excited about. Cross your fingers.

We got a puppy! It was a dumb impulsive idea! He’s a cattle dog mutt named Memo. I love him and he is a treasure, even though he can be a total asshole.

Here’s an album of the handsome pup.

He was two months old when we got him, which is young enough to ensure that we get to deal with all of the worst parts of having a puppy like biting, potty training, and an endless amount of energy early in the morning and late at night.

If you’ve never had a puppy before and things like ‘having a life’ and ‘going out and doing things’ are important to you…DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GET A HIGH-ENERGY BREED PUPPY! We learned this one the hard way. At the very least do your research and know what you’re getting into, because we sure didn’t and we’re paying for it (literally) now.

Of course it’s also all worth it and I love that little bitey bastard to death.

The wedding is rapidly approaching. We’re less than five months away at this point and because life was on pause during my recovery, we’re behind on some of the actual planning. I’m sure it’ll all come together and be wonderful. Your collective invite will be in the mail soon. That’s a joke. You can’t come, sorry.

I’ve been watching Game of Thrones, Preacher (only the first episode so far, no spoilers pls), and all of Curb Your Enthusiasm for the first time. I’m playing Enter The Gungeon, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch.

That’s about it. Not too much has changed but it feels like everything has between the puppy and my recovery. I’m so glad to see the community going strong, I’m still immensely proud of what I contributed to it during my time here.

Feel free to ask me anything and I’ll do my best to answer. Obviously I won’t be able to talk about any behind-the-scenes business-y stuff, and I still won’t tell you when the next Fuko is (I don’t know).

TL;DR: Wanted to come back and say hi, went through some stuff that kept me away for a while, got a puppy, AMA.

Love y’all.
