Oh Fuuuuuck!
21Is anyone else having a “moment” with their new M pillow?
I haven’t purchased anything from meh in a long time because… I do massage and I don’t make enough money to be spending it on stuff I don’t need.
Apparently I kneaded this pillow… or it kneads me… oh. my. god.
I own a very nice Human Touch massaging chair (which I purchased second hand at a steal). The massaging fingers don’t travel down far enough on my back, like I want it to. The m pillow is performing some magic on my sacrum as I type this. It is completely silent and has a gentle touch about it. I can almost feel two thumbs rubbing me. The heat is penetrating and I can’t wait to use it further up my spine, but especially on my neck.
I am literally moved to write this. I hope someone else out there feels me and feels their pillow feeling them… wow… thank you meh… one of my favorite purchases ever (I sleep with two comforters every night tho, so they are definitely the bomb).
I’d like to add that it was packaged and delivered efficiently (although now my delivery person knows I bought this, since it’s not inside another box. But the materials inside are very nicely done. I’m really impressed. I’m really glad I splurged for this as it may help me stay in business. Happy Ending to a Meh M Pillow Purchase!

I love happy endings.
Now I want one and they’re $59 on Morningsave. Boo.
@sammydog01 you’re VMP so you get 10% off there plus free shipping
https://morningsave.com/deals/m-cushion-premium-plus-18-massage-pillow-with-bonus-matching-decor-pillow
@shawn Do Casemate bribe coupons work on Morningsave?
@therealjrn I don’t see anywhere you can enter a coupon code.
@Pantheist darn
@therealjrn the automatic 10% off for VMPs takes the discount slot on MorningSave.
@shawn darn
@shawn I later realized they were 50 something instead of the 30 something I remembered because this batch only comes with the extra pillow. So the mark-up isn’t as much as I thought.
@shawn
You’re making me want to go back and re-read the Casemates Kickstarter email sent to legacy VMPrs.
Did the email claim the code for three Casemate K bribe coupons was good on all Mediocre sites?
@RedOak technically they might still be good, they simply can’t be combined with other discounts.
@sammydog01 Wait? Did we get coupons yet? Did we get info on it? I am really bad about checking the emails I get from meh
@mfladd Yes, we got coupons the day before Casemates launched. I used one on my shirt. If you can’t find your email I’ll post the code- it’s tied to our accounts. (I assume you kickstarted casemates and aren’t just trolling me?)
@mfladd I got mine Sunday the 14th.
@sammydog01 @therealjrn Thanks! I’ll take a look.
@jbartus
I don’t recall that disclaimer anywhere in the fine print.
While I’ve gotten close, I’ve not bought anything on Morningsave (had hoped the coupons would change that). So when the default 10% VMP discount populates the promo code field, you’re saying that default must be replaced?
@RedOak it’s not a field you can replace. More like a line item.
@sammydog01 We can’t use the coupon with the morningsave vmp discount on that site? Wait…I thought we could use the coupon on any site. If I missed something let me know, because I haven’t read everything here - skimming
@mfladd @shawn said you can’t use the coupons at Morningsave. Maybe if you ask him nicely?
@sammydog01
@RedOak per what @shawn said, it would seem so. That said this all strikes me as very much a first world problem where people want to have their cake and eat it too and keep the box it came in. The items for sale by Mediocre are already sold at a steep discount, there’s the 10% VMP discount, plus free shipping for VMPs, and on top of that people want to add coupons. I’m as much of a bargain hunter as the next guy but come on…
@jbartus Morningsave items are almost always marked up at least 10% over Meh prices if they have been sold here. Look at the encore page. So I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
@jbartus “first world” aspersions melodrama aside, apparently some folks don’t delve into the depths of yankee-Scot frugality as others.
Shipping is most definitely not “free” for VMP members. Depending on the frequency of purchases, shipping might be at reduced cost, but it is not free.
One suspects, post first 18 months of Meh (when the launch $ were still flowing into deal prices), the number of legacy VMP folks buying every single month has dwindled.
Words have meaning. If the K-VMP-coupon offer said coupons were not usable on Morningsave or that those same VMPrs would give up their 10% discount to use a coupon then so be it…
@sammydog01 MSRP? Other retail comps? Please. And that ignores how often that 10% discount can result in a better price than the original Meh offering.
@RedOak being a VMP member and paying the fee every month is a choice. If people aren’t getting their money’s worth out of it that’s on them. Hell, as far as I am aware Mediocre is still, in an example of extreme unnecessary generosity on their part, happy to refund the last month and terminate the deal if the membership hasn’t been made use of. God only knows how often people used to brag about gaming that particular system back before signups closed.
As far as the coupons go I went and checked and the email delivering them specifically cites their ability to be used on Meh and Casemates with no mention of Morningsave. That said if you’re really so put out by the whole situation I’d imagine that support would probably arrange a reversal of your KS pledge, they tend to be generous like that, case in point being how VMP benefits keep getting extended to new ventures. It’s not like they needed the funding anyhow, they’ve as much as said Kickstarter was an interest gauge coupled with a marketing initiative where Casemates is concerned.
Frugality is one thing, milking the cow until dust comes out is quite another.
@jbartus … was going to leave it at that and agree to disagree, but the facts got in the way…
Actually, here is the full paragraph, copied from the (for me, 12/28/2017) original Legacy VMP Casemates Kickstarter email specifically mentioning Morningsave:
Some folks appear to be under the doe-eyed, worshipping, impression Mediocre is a philanthropic organization with the primary objective being to - out of the goodness of its heart - hand out profitless subsidized deals. Oh well. Words still have meaning.
@RedOak The email I cited was not the one you are referencing. Seems to me you have a somewhat legitimate complaint in that regard since it was explicitly stated as such (per your statement, not worth looking up that email on my end). Calling @shawn and I’ll toss @ThumperChick and @snapster in for good measure.
On the topic of the aforementioned extreme unnecessary generosity, I am under no delusions as to the function of a company such as Mediocre and maintain my position. There is no reasonable expectation or obligation between a company and a subscriber that, should the subscriber through their own actions or inactions not utilize a subscription they’ve paid for, entitles that subscriber to a refund for the unused subscription. The company fulfilled all of their obligations vis a vis providing the subscriber with access to the benefits of that subscription, it was the subscriber’s choice not to make use of those benefits. It is an action of goodwill and generosity for that company to then reimburse that subscriber for the month in question. It would be like demanding that the landscaper not bill you for mowing your lawn because you were on vacation and couldn’t make use of the lawn.
@RedOak The morningsave inclusion in the original email was an error. It’s simply not possible to use a coupon on MorningSave for VMP members. Sorry about that.
@Thumperchick tossing this out as devil’s advocate here. Is there any recourse for VMPers who may have backed the Kickstarter on the basis of the aforementioned inclusion? To err is human, naturally, but some might have backed on the basis of that perceived promise and feel they’ve been sold a bill of goods.
@jbartus
it would appear we have different ways of understanding business entities and perhaps will never agree. But the intellectual exercise has been interesting.
I have no idea of whether you have owned or managed a business.
“Extreme” customer service can be a very intentional and calculated, even selfish, business practice having nothing whatsoever to do with “generosity”.
One company I managed had a customer is always right philosophy. It sold hospital related products.
One morning a medium volume customer called up frantic they’d have to stall surgeries as they had run out of our products. This was before FedEx existed. I jumped in the car and drove the $100 order 250 miles to the hospital. On a micro basis, it was a loser sale. I assure you I did not drive 500 miles round trip in one day, leaving the business, out of “generosity.”
It blew away the customer. They didn’t buy more stuff - they already used our stuff at a natural rate. But I t likely solidified their loyalty to us when our competitors came knocking on their door.
Six months later we got a call from a new customer. They knew someone at the first customer and asked who would be a good source for the products we sold. The first customer referred us, repeating our get them out of trouble delivery story. And did it again later for another new customer.
Our customer is always right policy was a selfish wish to build loyalty and gain new customers. Something any new startup would be smart to implement.
@Thumperchick that is an unfortunate blunder.
@RedOak
I would say that “extreme generosity” can sometimes be a valid business practice.
Those successful businesses who exercise that attitude in carefully- thought directions no doubt intend to stay healthy as profitable businesses.
I have known some businesses who practiced some forms of extreme service and “above and beyond the call”, so to speak.
Their customers knew this.
A few customers always tried to game this practice to the nth degree. The business expected this, and adjusted prices and services for the would-be “game-everything” customers accordingly.
@RedOak you seem to like taking the position that I am under some kind of delusion as to the reasons a company might make decisions. I understand very well the value of a reciprocal goodwill relationship between a company and its customers. That it makes good business sense to take actions that make customers happy does not, however, negate the fact that Mediocre chose freely to enact such a policy, which is a generous one as they are under no legal compulsion that I am aware of to do so (IANAL). Nor does it absolve customers who choose to abuse this policy to game the system by playing subscription tag.
Not that it’s particularly relevant but the customer is always right philosophy is problematic in practice. There are circumstances in which customers can, and are quite often, objectively wrong. Most companies will bend over backwards accommodating them despite this as, as discussed, it’s good business sense to do so, but on occasion it is quite reasonable to ‘fire’ a bad customer. It doesn’t really apply to the example you provided of course and believe me I’m very much an advocate for good customer service (just as I’m an advocate for good customer behavior).
The example you provided is an example of great customer service and I applaud your company for helping that customer out. I do however wonder if things would have necessarily transpired in the same manner if you hadn’t been selling medical supplies to hospitals with lives on the line.
@jbartus you win.
@jbartus MSRP? Are you kidding me? We were talking about whether coupons good at Meh are good at Morningsave. The MSRP is irrelevant. And items at Meh that are less expensive at Morningsave? Damn few- stuff that rolls over to Meh Encore is almost always 10% more rounded up.
The reason Shawn quoted for the coupons not being available om Morningsave? Was it MSRP? Because stuff was cheaper over there? Because they would lose their profit margin? No, it was because they didn’t have a fucking place to enter the code.
/8ball Is trying to reason with jbartus like smashing your head against a brick wall?
Yes
@sammydog01 jbartus is in a mood today. You see right up there she decided to switch sides and “play devil’s advocate” with @tHumperchick to continue fucking arguing about shit. Just tell her she wins the fucking internet today.
@sammydog01 Here - this ought to help
@jbartus Have you ever posted over in the “Politics” tab on Fark.com? It might satiate this unease your feeling with not have enough shit to argue about.
@therealjrn “She”? Nope, nope, nope, he’s on your team. Congratulations.
@sammydog01 yay.

It all seems normal to me.
@Barney Your new nickname is Olive BTW
@Pavlov Meanie.
/image code is bad you should feel bad
@sammydog01 I was talking about a general discount from retail pricing in the vein of people wanting to pile discounts on top of discounts on top of discounts. You’re the one who shifted it to try to make my statement solely about products Mediocre sells on Morningsave alone and somehow make the discussion only about Meh Encore products and price differentiation thereof.
/8ball is taking to sammydog01 like talking to someone who listens to every fourth word of what you say then fills in the blanks with what they think you were saying as suits their agenda?
You may rely on it
@therealjrn I was presented with evidence that supported the position that the coupons should be able to be used on Morningsave. If the statement was made then it was made, simple as that. Arguing against the position once it had been established that official statements supported the idea of being able to stack discounts on top of each other would be tilting at windmills.
@jbartus you win.
@therealjrn (Shhhh… we’re in timeout.)
@sammydog01 I have searched all my emails and I cannot find one that has coupons. I am a vmp backer at casemates. Can you send me a copy of the msg? Are the coupon codes individual or group codes that are in the system for backers? Thanks.
@mfladd Try VMPBRIBE. I think it was the same for everyone- you can use it 3 times.
@sammydog01 Thank you, I will give it a try when I find something. I would use it for the massage pillow on morningsave, but…
@mfladd I forgot to point out that if you got the $60 membership the coupon may work 4 times. Or not. Give it a shot. It was in the email.
@sammydog01 Now is your chance!
@lichme Bought one at Morningsave- thanks for the thought.
@sammydog01 Oh, thank you! I will.
@mfladd @sammydog01 only if you backed it early enough. Mine says 3:
@mfladd @sammydog01 @Seeds
FYI for everyone - If you try it and it doesn’t work, those codes are tied to accounts.
I really want a version of this that is rechargeable instead of needing to be plugged in. I would love to be able to use it occasionally in my desk chair, but I’d end up tangled in power cords.
Definitely buying another if they come back again. I got it yesterday and had to start it back up (20 minute auto-shutoff) 5 times last night. My back hurts today, but I can actually move! Awesome buy.
Fine, okay, I bought a set on MorningSave. I figure I’ll hurt everywhere after upcoming knee surgery. I’m pretty sure I can claim it as a medical expense. Maybe insurance will pay for it.
@OldCatLady I wish that either the colors weren’t so weird or that there was a white one you could but a cover on. None of them will go with my living room at all.
When’s the knee surgery?
@sammydog01 Pale blue stripe and the pale green aren’t bad at all. March 21st, with lots of PT before and after.
@OldCatLady You talked me into the dark blue stripe ones.
@sammydog01 Almost twinsies again! I got light blue. Speaking of which, I might need some new shoes.
@OldCatLady Are Crocs bad for your knees?
@sammydog01 I hope not. I’ll ask the PT folks. They’re easier to get on and off than lace-up sneakers.
I approve of this thread title.
@jkearney would approve as well
@shells! Whoa! You haven’t been around here posting since the Show Yourself thread. Glad to see you are still around
@mfladd Thanks! So dang sweet of you to remember and mention this. I’m still a lurker lol.
But alas, this site brings out the compulsive shopper in me, (or the beer drinker - I participated in the first meh beer exchange). So I check it and go.
I really wanted to re-VMP with casemates, but I could see my future: more money spent on meh stuff AND lots of yummy wine. I talked myself out of it. Then I went and bought this pillow, which I’m thrilled about.
Hope you’re good and staying cool!
@shells I remember you (lurker or not).
Staying “good” is not a word that is usually used to describe me, unless the eViL or havoc I am into is something people find pleasurable
I blame you for this thread, because I may have to purchase this pillow if you found it so wonderful that you had to come out of lurker mode to post about it. Add the fact that you are a massage therapist and I may be sold.
By the way, my back hurts
@mfladd, Haha, yes I like Evil Good! It’s right up my pleasure alley, along with Greek Key M(assaging) Pillows that sends tingling warmth up my erector spinae.
Sorry to hear your back hurts, but truth be told, everyone’s back hurts most of the time (as they age) which is why we’re having this 18" Pillow talk.
I also like that if you buy this pillow, and you use it, you’ll think of me. I accept your blame.
Happy Friday and Happy Mmmmmm Pillow Rubbins!
@mfladd I bought one. Darn @shells. And I wish I had bought one when I didn’t have to buy the decorative pillow too. But I predict that it will make me so happy that shells will be my new most favorite person. @shells I’ll let you know your status when it gets here.
@shells Well, now you are just teasing my erector spinae talking like that. I may have fibbed a teency bit about my back hurting just to score a massage. You have to appreciate the eViL effort I’ll go to to get a rub. And I will think of you when the “magic fingers” of this pillow go to work (it doesn’t require quarters does it?)
I am “this close” to pulling the trigger.
It doesn’t help that @sammydog01 has now purchased it since we have some strange mediocre purchasing connection. @sammydog01, I think @shells needs to come out of lurker mode more often. I need a new plaything here
@mfladd @shells I know why I know why
Also, you shouldn’t say erector to him.
Oh my. I didn’t know this site had become Penthouse Letters!
@ELUNO I never thought I would be writing in to you…
Received my 3 today - boxes didn’t make the trip well, but pillows undamaged … & WOW, what a great buy these are! The hubs tried one to see how they worked & the smile said it all. Also very pleased with the quality of the pillow(s) materials & assembly. Anyone considering purchasing, don’t hesitate. Re: coupon - have never noticed any code in my daily emails to try … where should I be looking for it?
@scfd0766 Unless you paid to be a Kickstarter for the casemates.com site, you shouldn’t expect an email.
@cengland0 - Ahhhh, thanks; thought I was loosing it, there. Have been a VMP since almost the beginning, but we simply just don’t drink wine in our house. Hopefully MEH will let us have a crack at signing up again when they open a site for “stronger spirits”. Cheers!
Well I was pleasantly surprised. Box came taped such that nothing would get dirty. Considering I have gotten 2 boxes not taped enough - one empty and one who knows - both fukos (and yes meh took care of the empty one), this was definitely a meh well done tape job. Box was smashed up but still completely shut.
Plugged this in and the smashing didn’t appear to break it luckily (hopefully it will keep doing its thing). As others have said - this thing is actually decent. Haven’t tried the heat, just using the roller function right now (only just plugged it in, not even had it going the 20 min cycle yet. Higher quality than I expected. Still would love one of those $4000+ chairs as they are really ice, but for what this cost, it is worth it.
Unfortunately this was supposed to be a present for my sister and I was just making sure it worked based on meh’s recent history with items. Now I am struggling to convince myself it still is my sister’s present LOL.
@sammydog01 Did you purchase this yet? I am interested in seeing what you think.
@OldCatLady Thoughts on yours?
@mfladd It’s kind of painful. I put some padding on it and like it more. I love the heat. So, yeah, I’m happy I bought it.
@mfladd Would certainly buy again. I put a plush towel folded double on it, because the motors are powerful. The 20 minute session is about right. I’m undergoing serious PT pre-knee replacement, and I crawl home whimpering and use it.
@OldCatLady Best of luck with the replacement. I have rehabed enough hips and knees in my prior life to know you will be just fine
@OldCatLady That should make your rehab easier, right? Let us know how it goes because I already lost the link where you gave us the surgery date. I should write it down.
Expecting to be reading a lot of books after the surgery? Let me know if you find any good ones.
@sammydog01 Thanks, I hope it will. It’s the hospital and week in rehab that worry me. Am lining up everything that looks interesting. Audio, text and about 8000 songs on AMZN music. I’m taking one or two Fires, and a BT eye shade, and a few earbuds, and a couple power banks, and a USB charger or two. I have NFLX etc. plus AMZN. And a half dozen Meh shirts. And Alexa. And a paperback or two.
@OldCatLady You will be quite busy in the hospital. If they have the same schedule as the one I worked at you will have OT 2x day and PT 2x day. And you will be up and walking the day after surgery as long as your vitals are fine.
They have already determined that you will be going to in-patient rehab for a week?
@mfladd Yes, a week in what I am told is just like a spa. Walking same day, discharge 36-48 hours. The PT staff has gleefully demonstrated with a plastic knee what will be done while I am sedated.
