Offer up
4Tell me what you know about it or if you’ve used it? Somebody I know told me that that’s the go to where they live now for any type of selling of junk or whatever that has some value or not. I don’t use Facebook at all never had an account never intend to so Facebook Marketplace has no option there and we all know that Craigslist is the work of the devil so just curious what people think

I’ve been successful using nextdoor to sell stuff. Aka Facebook for all the Mrs Kravitz 's in your neighborhood.
OfferUp is less popular than FBM by volume here, but it’s adored by people who want to haggle.
OfferUp isn’t bad as a tool for getting rid of your crap or buying other people’s crap. The only issues I’ve run into more recently, is getting response from people who say they are interested and then they ghost you. I don’t remember what it was, but I had something up for sale a while ago and got quite a few responses and after negotiating a bit they looked at where I lived and said I was too far away for them to come get it. I don’t have a negative opinion about the app. Just a negative opinion about people in general, lol.
@jaybird I suppose you’ve seen this classic?
@Kyeh lol, I hadnt seen that. That makes perfect sense these days unfortunately.
A friend was selling something for almost nothing on one of the sites and got someone trying to haggle then demanded he deliver it for free. People can be pieces of work.
@jaybird This is why I absolutely hate holding yard sales. We held one yard ago for my mother and an old woman wanted to haggle over a 50 cent knit hat. When I said no, she just took it and ran off!
Each community is different. In my area Offer Up used to be great, legitimate buyers but not so many anymore. FBM now has all the traffic, including all the flakes and rude people too.
Why not sign up with a fake name and identity and then try it out.
Good luck
I bought my car off OfferUp! I was the only one
stupidbrave enough to consider it after multiple price drops because it was dead … that I got running in 25 minutes. It’s less anonymous than Craigslist, so that’s a positive IMHO. Haven’t done any selling, though; just buying. A few, we just met up in a public place.

I’ve used craigslist and nextdoor. Plenty of no shows. As a result I give them 24 hours and tell all other responders that I will let them know if the person is a no show. Ignore the ‘will you ship’ scammers. Then there are the ones who show up and then try to get you to come way down on the price well beyond what you are willing to do. I just walk away then.
Stuff gets so buried in facebook. At least around here there is so much on it. I have tried their marketplace and never sold anything. Had it for the same price on the other two and sold. Probably a local market issue.
I tried to sell on it last year but never had any luck, probably my area. Everybody around here uses FBM or nextdoor but I refuse to do social media. My brother had really good luck with it years back In Portland.
I did get lots of instant hits with my sell’s that were fake people asking me to send them a code (I guess so they could access my phone or something idk).
@Star2236 It’s a scam so that they can use your phone number as fake ID to get a GVoice number that isn’t trackable back to them. Scammers all the way around.
When I got robbed in 2019 this is where my stuff was sold and the police were able to arrest someone before I got home from my business trip. So… yes?
@capnjb So, did you get your stuff back, did the thief have to pay restitution, or were you just happy to collect the proceeds from the sale?
Or, None of the Above?
