so No electric bulb? what if you run out of tea-light candles? I suppose you could gather twigs and leaves from the forest, and kindle a tiny fire… or “stems and leaves” from the latest shipment from Mendocino brought in by 1974 Toyota Corolla. Oh wait, college flashback from 40 years ago. what, it’s legal now?
@pmarin@PooltoyWolf
Yeah I was wondering about that. And also, I wouldn’t think a tea light would last long enough to get a lava lamp hot enough to make it do it’s thing but apparently it does.
@Kyeh I was a college student in 1970, so I know what a hippie gaggle looks like in real life. My eyes still have nightmares! (And no, I never owned any of the aforementioned clothing. Or the lava lamp.)
@rockblossom I actually liked the look But I was a pre-teen/early teen and of course everything the older kids were doing seemed so cool. I really liked the London look, the neon colors and psychedelic patterns.
Glad I checked and saw this, what a cool idea! I really hope it works as advertised, and I can use regular tealight candles when the included ones inevitably run out.
This thing actually works really well! I bought one on a whim, hoping but not expecting it to work right…but it does! The heat from a tealight candle is enough to make the ‘lava’ flow and shift around for at least four hours, and the flame even provides enough light to give it that classic lava lamp look. Plus, since I don’t have to plug it in, I can place it almost anywhere. I love it, glad I grabbed one of these!

Ok this is cool.
@sammydog01 Seconded.
Lava lamps are so hard to dispose of.
@Artimid can’t you just toss them in the ocean?
@Artimid Why would you want to dispose of a lava lamp? They are eternal.
Groovy. Tempting too.
@heartny For reasons I don’t understand, earlier today I had a craving for a Mike Myers: Austin Powers movie.

A can of sterno might work too!
@pmarin
@Lynnerizer Good idea!
@Lynnerizer @pmarin Too large! The good news is tealight candles are very cheap and easy to find.

Nope. Owning this might result in an urge to wear a big peace symbol on a chain, a peasant blouse, floral bell bottoms, and platform sandals.

@rockblossom
Would that be a bad thing?

@Kyeh @rockblossom To paraphrase Austin Powers, it’s back, baby!
@ircon96 @rockblossom
I love it!
Lava lamps and cats are a bad mix.
@werehatrack So true…especially with an open flame!

I found a video.
@sammydog01 Far out!
