Now on Kickstarter - Artisan Wood Gaming Products
2I am not connected to this kickstarter group in any way other than being a customer, but for anyone who likes dice or tabletop gaming you should check this out! Wyrmwood Gaming has a new kickstarter for a magnetic dice tower, as well as a dice tray and dice vault. I love this company! I backed their last kickstarter and got a few dice vaults (Aromatic Cedar for me, and Zebrawood for my brother), and the craftsmanship and quality were amazing! They really stand behind their products!

Dice Towers are the epitome of Meh.
@DrunkCat They are also selling the dice vaults (wood carrying case) that they had on the previous kickstarter.. They're awesome! I haven't even played a tabletop game in a decade or more, but somehow I've become addicted to dice related kickstarter projects!
@kadagan Oh no those are actually really awesome, but it would've marred the joke to have added that.
Damnit, there's purple heart… there's pink ivory… might actually break down and get one of the vaults (can't see myself using the tower)…
@brhfl This was unlocked in a stretch goal (posted in the first update) It's too pricey for me, but it's the most beautiful wood I think I've ever seen!
@kadagan but how did they get the bacon into the tree
@Lotsofgoats That's the magic of it all!!
@kadagan That is truly wild…
@brhfl I love purple.
@Barney Me too, buddy, me too.
Dang, that's nice. My inclination, though, is to learn to make one myself rather than shell out hundreds of dollars for a set.
@harrison Yeah, even their cheapest set is $150 It's definitely an investment! If you're good with woodwork, it probably wouldn't be too hard to make your own, but that's not my specialty by any means ;)
@kadagan Mine either, honestly! I'm still learning.
What the hell ARE those??
@Bingo
@Bingo basically a dice tower lets you easily roll dice for boardgames without letting them go all over the place and fall off the table. They're super neat! I love playing boardgames but haven't had a chance to play as much as I've wanted to lately.
@JonT Or more cynically, dice towers keep people who limply tip dice from their hand and call it a roll from being accused of cheating.
@kadagan @JonT Jesus Christ that's a ton of money just for something to roll dice. Which I can do with my hands. And I don't have problems with them flying off tables and stuff.
@Bingo If you wanted a cheap dice tower, they are easy to find (http://amzn.com/B00SM90O9S), but this is more about the quality and craftsmanship. I think that's where the word "Artisan" came into it.. haha. Not for everyone.
@kadagan Yeah I totally get that. I mean, I do a lot of woodworking and build musical instruments myself. That just seems like a case of serious overkill and inventing a solution for a problem that doesn't exist (Again going back to 'My hand seems to be perfect for this as is'). That said it is some beautiful work.
@Bingo you've obviously never played boardgames with someone that sucks at rolling dice ;) Plus some games require you to roll a whole shitton of dice at once, and dice towers solve both of those problems (that I assure you do exist).
@JonT Summoner Wars sucks anyway ;)
@Bingo I'm with you on this.
@JonT if someone sucks at rolling dice, give them a plastic cup a-la Yahtzee. Way cheaper. If the problem of rolling off the table exists, put a small tupperware square container on the table. When it's done doing the dice job, it'll hold snacks.
I showed this to a gamer friend at work and he told me to look up Aaron Cain, who makes custom wood deck boxes for card games. His "switchblade" model is super cool. Skip to 1:20 for the payoff.
