I just received four of these today: WyzeCam 1080p IP cam with 2-way audio, motion detection, local recording or free 14 day cloud recording… all this for $20 (plus shipping; the four I bought came to about $24 each).
This is not a sale or special offer price, but the everyday price. Also on Amz for $29.99 w/free Prime ship.
I set up one tonight and I am duly impressed for the price. Vid quality is very good, night viz is adequate, audio quality is usable… and the tiny size of the cam is impressive.
This is basically a Chinese camera, with a US based app and cloud service created and operated by Wyze. Setup was super easy, and the app is clean and intuitive. Definitely a “recommended” considering the price and features.
@f00l Oh, unlike most Chinese WiFi cams, these do not create a open SSID to connect and set up. Instead, you configure the app, the app generates a QR code, then you point the cam at the code to download WiFi settings to the cam.
@f00l Before it will read the QR code you have to put it in setup mode with a physical button press (not to suggest there wouldn’t be a way to initiate setup via net commands). Since the WiFi credentials are stored in the device there’s obvs a risk of hacking, but as I understand Krack, it cannot work that way.
@mflassy It will record upon motion detection (unsure about sound at this point) to the cloud and local SD card. Cloud recordings are available on a rolling 14 day timeline, though you can download recorded vids from the cloud. You can also record to a mobile device as you’re viewing the live feed. How often it is recording of course depends on how much activity is in the FOV.

For all these, I believe you have to “buy” the free Kindle book 1st, and at the same time, or later, buy the audiobook.
Don’t buy the audiobook 1st unless it shows the right price!
Follow the links at Slickdeals to the audible audiobook pages.
(Don’t purchase yet)
The on the audible desktop (not mobile) webpage, follow the whispersync-for-voice link back to Amazon. Get the free Kindle book at Amazon.
At the same time, or later, you should be able to purchase the audiobook at the prices advice.
More details on how to purchase are in the Slickdeals thread, if you need the info.
Here is the Slickdeals link to all of these audiobooks:
On some of these deals, the Kindle book is not free. But it is usually very inexpensive. And you normally have to purchase the Kindle book first to get the discounted audible price.
@therealjrn It has speakers, but you would have to adjust the volume level manually. Otherwise, no reason it woudln’t work with a cable box with HDMI output, or a streaming box like the Fire TV or Roku devices.
I received my new Asus monitor on Monday, finally set it up today. I am duly impressed. I didn’t realize, when they tout “ultra-thin no bezel design” just how sleek this would be. Great image, sweet design, decent feature set. Definitely a value for the price I paid. Since my PC doesn’t do 4K, the lack of that is a non-issue. I am pleased.
place oriented obsessions can be wonderful things.
Btw, thx. I prob won’t hit the film festival. Too much else to do. But nice to know it’s there.
When I was in high school, one if my fav Tex-Mex places still had hitching posts.
In a number of small rural towns, many DQ’s, Sonic’s, and fast food joints still have them. For the semi-rural kids who are too young to drive or don’t have cars.

@Nate311 At 9:20ish this morning amazon ‘corrected’ my country, and all these books doubled or more in price. Maybe there’s a hidden $100 dollar limit on these great deals? Maybe amazon ‘corrected’ the country for everyone? For example: Infinity Gauntlet for $2.20 is a great deal, but after my country correction, my price is $5.50.
Several books I purchased for $3.00 overnight now are listed at $7.50.
According to amazon’s own banner ad, the sale runs through today, so…
Amazon’s digital item sales are always “country specific”.
Amazon has to license the right to distribute the content country-by-country with the rights owner or publishing entity.
If the rights owner is a large corporation, sometime Amazon has to negotiate the rights with a number of different subsidiaries, each an independent negotiation, depending on in which country Amazon is seeking distribution rights.
This is a huge pain. There is digital content for sale in the US that people in other countries can’t even buy, and VV.
And the sales are country-targeted also. When a kindle or audible book (or a video or music) is discounted on the UK site, I can’t legally buy it.
If you circumvent this a lot, and Amazon catches you, they will cut off your account altogether and not do biz at all with you anymore.
This has happened to people in EU who tried to purchase from the UK site (separate rights)
I was informed I could not legally purchase audible books from the UK site (that aren’t even listed for sale in the US site : Amazon can’t get the rights for some reason).
I suppose you are in Canada.
I don’t know if someone in the US could “gift” something to you across borders. That seems unlikely? I don’t know the rules.
I think you might be able to set up a US account legally? Don’t take my word that this is ok. Do some research.
You would need a at least a US address, a US business or at least a US DBA, and a US-billing-address-based credit card or method of payment such as a US checking account that used the US address.
Even then, it’s tricky. I try to avoid dealing with these issues and just purchase scoring to the vendor’s rules.
Since I live in the US, normally not an enormous problem.
@f00l Naw. I’m in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Always have been.
I got the great prices on $104.60 of Marvel books, but when I switched to the next open tab, and hit buy, I got the green “we have corrected your country, you have not yet been charged” banner with the increased prices. The same banner appeared on all my open amazon kindle store pages.
My amazon home country is set to 'United States’
I double checked. I also tried my neighbor’s comcast internet, and verizon 4g (I have FiOS).
Thank You for trying to help.
@f00l I’ve stubbed my digital toes (get it?) on this issue several times. The maddening part is when the digital subscription to Times of London offers free ebooks and audiobooks to subscribers- but they don’t mean me.
Thanks.
This is great advice. However; all of these titles are still on sale, just not As on sale. I have no record of the previous offered price as all of my tabs reset after I got the alert. I’ve already saved hundreds. I’m gonna call it a win, and let it go.
@f00l …so I had Amazon call me…“Amazon reserves the right to limit quantities, blah, blah, blah…the banner I got is the only way the system is set-up to enforce those limits…I’ll reset your limit for you”.
Sure enough, I bought another hundred-odd dollars and got the banner again.
Now I just have to explain $222.56 of comics purchases to my wife.

Audible $99.50 for 1 year, all credits in advance offer still active.
I was cleaning out my old emails when I came across the Audible promo for a $50 discount deal which expired on October 25th. Just for giggles, I clicked on the link and the offer was still available, although not advertised anywhere. Here is the link I used.
This brings your monthly cost to about $9 after tax, with all 12 credits being available immediately. With some patience, you can leverage those 12 credits into 20 or so books by waiting for the “Two books, one credit” sales.
To be honest, this is only a $50 discount from today’s price, and historically DJI prices fall rapidly after the initial romance period of a newer product. Give it until January and I think you’ll see refurbs for $299 and new for well under $400.
We’ve been receiving Black Friday circulars for the box stores for an upcoming publication distribution. I’ve been looking through them, and TBH, this year isn’t really bringing any phenomenal door buster deals of particular note. I haven’t seen the Best Buy ad yet, so I guess there’s still hope for a $600 65” Samsung 4k tv, but so far I haven’t seen anything I’d fight the crowds for.
Well, there ya have it folks. Black Friday is officially dead.
Dammit, I really was hoping to replace my old Mitsubishi rear projection tv in the living room. That behemoth is nearly 6 feet high, 2 1/2 feet deep, and sucks up more electricity than my air conditioner.
They charge a 99¢ fulfillment fee to get your credit card information, that way you will get charged after your subscription is over if you forget to cancel.
@sammydog01 I haven’t read it in many years. My mom used to get the magazine when I was a kid. I loved folding the back page to see the hidden picture. Thought that was very clever.
Hopefully I’ll remember to cancel at the end of my two years, haha.
Win $300 to spend on your wish list at Audible:. Today (Nov 9) only.
Today Audible is having a sweepstakes.
No purchase necessary to win.
The winner will receive $300 to spend on audiobooks. The catch is that the winning $ can only be spent in audiobooks that are already on the winner’s audible wish list before the contest ends.
So enter the contest, and then add more than $300 of books you would like to own to your wish list.
I don’t know whether the winner receives $300 worth of monetary credit or $300 worth of Audible Credits (similar to the Audible Credits that someone who has an audible subscription receives.).
I didn’t read that far.
This matters, because it has an effect on the cost of the books somewhat, should you win.
So make sure your list contains at least 35 books you would want to own.
Books can be added to your wish list by clicking that button on the book page or on the search page.
Login with your Amazon account to enter.
If you have problems, give audible a call. The customer service is pretty good.
@f00l I’ve been preloading my wish list all month, but $300. won’t buy it all. I logged directly into Audible, where it gave me the link button to enter.
@f00l A friend sent me a used copy of AMS’ children’s book ‘Precious and the Puggies’, translated into Scots, per his direction. Published 2010, by Itchy Coo, in Scotland. They don’t have stuff like that in MY local bookstores.
“The Really Terrible Orchestra exists to encourage those who have been prevented from playing music, either through lack of talent or some other factor, to play music in the company of similarly afflicted players. The policy of the orchestra is to make no distinction between the various grades of ability and the various forms of music, or time signature. The RTO looks forward to a further lowering of standards, in order to underline its commitment to accessibility and relevance.”
The NYT article on the Really Terrible Orchestra isn’t a review. I saw the link and posted it here before looking at the article.
It’s kind of a “guest introduction”, written by Alexander McCall Smith.
I believe the qualifications for joining the orchestra are:
Have access to an instrument
Bring the instrument to rehearsals and performances.
Attempt to play the music. Or attempt to play some music or other, asking with the orchestra.
This is a factory refurb, sold by the “Official DJI Store” on eBay. By far the lowest price I’ve seen for a Mavic Pro. Considering it includes the (usually very costly) remote, it’s a bargain.
Added incentive: Shop eBay through 11/10 and receive 8% eBay Bucks on any purchase over $25 (that’s about $55 on this Mavic deal). There doesn’t appear to be any max cap on this offer, though the usual exclusions apply (real estate, industrial equipment and machinery, etc.

Here’s a pretty good summery from an Amazon reviewer of what Hourly History books are:
Quote from Amazon Reviewer :
Among those 1500 Amazon books on the Titanic is “Titanic: The Story of the Unsinkable Ship,” which is part of a digital publishing effort called Hourly History. This company, using uncredited individual authors, has published several dozen histories and biographies, all about 50 pages long, on Amazon. The company’s goal, according to their website, is to give readers a good fundamental overview of various topics in an easily digestible book that can be read in an hour. In the case of “Titanic,” their target audience would probably be people whose knowledge of the ship is at best the result of seeing James Cameron’s movie and at worse, could be summed up in a single paragraph. And, while there are certainly many excellent (and considerably longer) books about the Titanic readily available, such as Walter Lord’s classic “A Night to Remember,” many people simply don’t want to invest the time to finish a detailed account of the ship, but want more than they can glean from a Wikipedia article.
I would be lying if I said I had even the most rudimentary understanding of how Walmart pricing model works, but…
Gibson double cutaway electric guitar kit, includes FULL SIZE guitar, amplifier strap, instrument cord, spare strings and instructional DVD. Your choice of red or black body. Rollback priced at $65 with free shipping or in-store pick-up.
$65 for a basic full size Gibson is a decent value. Considering this includes a small amp and some extras, it’s a good deal.
BUT… here’s the capper: add a ChromaCast Pro green instrument cable using the “Buy together and save” selection towards the bottom of that page and the total bundle price drops to $60. Huh? Get more, pay less? IDK, but it is. I just ordered one for my nephew for Christmas. Out the door, incl tax was $65 total for the kit plus extra cable.
@ruouttaurmind Thanks, bruh. I got this to replace the crappy one I sold at a garage sale for $15. I also used about $5 in walmart savings catcher rewards as well as the remaining $10 I had on a rewards credit card from marlboro’s current promotion. (had to buy a walmart egift card with the $10 first then apply both the $5 and $10 gift cards at time of checkout. This bundle only cost me $50 something after tax!
/giphy guitar shredding
@medz Dang, I totally forgot about a $25 visa rebate card I got when I ordered some accessories for the Blazer! I should have used it on this purchase.
@ruouttaurmind Yeah, it’s tricky because you normally can’t combine credit cards for online stuff, but buying a gift card from the retailer for that exact amount is a good workaround. (because you can combine gift cards and credit cards) I used the first $15 of it for the Cards Against Humanity thing.
@medz I received this guitar yesterday. Overall build quality, fit and finish is exceptional considering the price. Except… the fret bars were poorly cut, leaving somewhat sharp edges along the ends. Swiping up or down the fretboard is uncomfortable, and could possibly even result in a few small cuts.
I’m considering methods to smooth and buff the ends of the bars without damaging the finish on the neck or fretboard, but IDK. I bought this for my 11yo nephew, but can’t really give it to him unless I resolve the issues.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ruouttaurmind Mine is still in the giant shipping box- please let me know what you figure out? I didn’t not want my daughter bleeding all over Christmas.
@sammydog01 You should probably open the box and check out yours. It’s possible, even likely that yours was manufactured on a different day or assembled by a different Chinese child who was paying better attention to the details.
@djslack I have to do this kind of thing from time to time with hot rod parts that are polished or powder coated, deburring or shaving a few hundredths for fit. I’ve had great success with a layer of painters tape, followed with a layer of duct tape to ensure I don’t go too deep and mar the polished or painted surfaces. Imma try it here, then should be able to use a buffing head on the Dremel. There’s a bunch of fret ends needing the treatment, so doing it by hand would take an excruciating amount of effort.
@djslack MSRP is $170, usually sells on sites like Musicians Friend, Guitar Center etc for about $90. I would be pretty bummed to spend $90.
@sammydog01, @medz, the final solution seems to be filing the fret ends with a flat file. Not enough control when using the Dremel.
First, I layed the guitar flat on the bench. I have neoprene mats for stuff like this, but an old towel would be fine. I did this flying commando… no masking on the wood surfaces. The thickness of the tape doesn’t allow enough clearance to do a complete filing.
I used a pair of 12mm wide files, fine and extra fine. I used the fine for cutting the bulk of the burrs, then brought it home with the extra fine. The fret material seems to be some sort of brass amalgamate, and it’s fairly soft, so it cuts easily.
I placed the file at a very slight angle to the side of the neck/fretboard (maybe 93*). I used my thumb to press the file firmly towards the fret end and worked the file slowly up and down, checking progress every few strokes. First with the cutting file, then the finishing file.
If you go slow and steady, you can avoid cutting into the wood. Remember, we’re not trying to create a masterpiece, so only remove as much fret material as necessary to smooth the fret end so it’s no longer sharp.
My files are better quality high carbon steel, and once I got the process down I could knock out about one end per minute or so. I finished one side of the fretboard in about 40 minutes. If you use cheap Harbor Freight files, expect that time to increase somewhat.
Anyhoo, I have a solution, so I’ve decided not to return to Wm.
Teavana has a bogo sale on certain items. Their perfect tea maker was included and shipping was free. They’ll be out of business soon so get them now if you like them.

Great 4K HDTV for HDTV watching and PC Gaming.
My Best Buy® Member
November 18, 2017
One day into using this TV and I must say this: simply put, this TV is fantastic with incredible “bang for the buck”.
The picture on the TV when watching it looks really good. There is also HDR Plus on this TV - which does add more color, snap, pop and brightness to the screen. While I did, as usual, have to use Expert Settings and set it to my liking - it now looks great and have adjusted it to how I like it.
For those who are PC gamers with PC gaming laptops, desktops, or other devices that support Steam, read this. This TV inside includes SteamLink support inside the TV. Go to your Samsung Smart Hub, download the SteamLink App, and you’re pretty much good to go on the TV side. Sign into your PC (desktop, tablet, PC, whatever), get Steam going there, get SteamLink App going on HDTV, and be ready to play some games.
With SteamLinking going on, running Mortal Kombat XL (Steam version) at 4K @ on a GTX 970 and all is great at above 30 FPS (frames per second) with no real framerate drops (i.e. SteamLink app said it was 0.16% drop, when running the app’s test for streaming) for me, this is fantastic. I will have to throw more games at this HDTV and with SteamLink App from the HDTV - but this is absolutely impressive right out of the gate.
I have plugged USB-based mice, keyboards, XBox 360 Gamepads right into this HDTV’s USB ports here…and the HDTV will notice them and work with them. You can use them to play games via Steam-link and even navigate Samsung’s Web Browser, which is great.
I do have my regular Blu-Ray Player connected to this TV - and while iregular BR players are only running at 1080p, it still works & plays fine; and looks like regular Blu-Ray quality. Great!
While I do wish there were more HDMI ports (there’s only 2 here) and maybe a few more USB ports - for $400 during these Black Friday Month sales, these complaints are very minor. Awesome HDTV for both watching HDTV on and especially to SteamLink games to stream them from a PC (or any device that has Steam) to the HDTV.
@f00l I am also happy because while I want a Black Friday price deal, I will NOT be going out shopping in that madness. I also usually find the low price tv’s they pull you in with are lacking many of the bells and whistles this one has.
I am amazed at how little money you can spend these days and get a very good television.
@mfladd The first deal I came to this site for was a 2-fer on refurbed Emerson 39” dumb TVs. $300 seemed like a great price back then (Q3 2014 give or take). FF to today and I can’t imagine paying more than $100 (ea) for a 39” refurb off brand TV.
FYI: I’ve found a few of these sale books with the “Get this audiobook for $1.99 when you purchase the Kindle version”, with a few of the Kindle versions being a buck or two, or FREE. So be sure to check for that before springing a fiver on the audiobook only.
@sammydog01 Uhhhh… I’ve lost track of the ones that meet the criteria. I didn’t purchase any because the stories didn’t seem interesting to me. But this is the last one in my browser history. Total pulp, but if it will pass the time commuting, prolly worth two bucks.
@ruouttaurmind I picked it up. I like young adult novels for long drives because they’re easy but the kissy face stuff gets old. This one will be nice.
@sammydog01 The YA books I’ve bought in the past have also been a bit humorous as well. If I want darkness and drama, I’ll turn back to my real life. LOL!
Woot has a Silhouette Cameo 3 Craft Bundle, your choice of black or pink machine bundled with some useful crafty stuff for $190. A fair price for the bundle.
This is the sort of machine @lisaviolet uses to concoct her incredible paper and mixed media crafty crafts.
Dyson DC34 Bagless Cordless Hand Vacuum $99 with free shipping. This is very tempting, I have a powerful hand vac but it’s container is only about a half cup, which renders it essentially useless. I think what I really need is a shop vac. That huge cannister would be great for all this pet hair. Zephyr sheds like it’s an Olympic event and he’s going for the gold.
Wow, so I switched my search to shop vac and found this Stanley 4 Gallon 4 Peak HP Stainless Steel Wet/Dry Vac for $20 on sale from $50, store pickup only. I’m buying one right now. They are sold out at all but one store here locally, looks like this is a leftover black Friday special.
@f00l I don’t use the crevice tools, just the big open-ended tube. I’ve never had a problem with my vac or the one I used to borrow from Bob picking up the pet hair, but I’m vacuuming hardwood floors, so no sticking to the carpet. I bought this little one at the Home Show, where it really would pick up a freaking bowling ball. It’s so powerful it almost bucks out of my hand when I turn it on. But I didn’t notice how small the container was when I bought it. It holds only a handful of pet hair. It’s great for vacuuming the car, though.
@moondrake Super Belle The Wonder Dog is also contending for the gold in the same event. I have good success with my Dyson, though using the hose is a little cumbersome. I have one of those little 6” vacuum powered rotating brush attachments for the couches and such and it does a decent job pulling the hair out of the upholstery. It’s a generic brand (Vacmaster) from Sears for about $10. http://www.vacmaster.com/1-1-4-turbo-pet-nozzle/
@RiotDemon good find. I’ve already paid for the little one at Walmart, I was actually just heading out the door to go and get it. If it will do the job for me it would be better as the smaller unit will be easier to store and tote around. I’m thinking maybe I’ll pass by the Lowe’s and pick up the bigger one also, just in case the little one doesn’t have the power for my needs. Then I can return whichever one of them I don’t want to keep.
@RiotDemon So I’ve unexpectedly just done my Black Friday shopping on this gorgeous Sunny Sunday. Both Lowe’s and Walmart still had their Black Friday displays up with all the special merchandise. I conducted my usual OCD buy two of everything (I call it Noah’s Ark shopping). So I ended up with two shop vacs, two DVD box sets (Game of Thrones and Arrow), two pair of floofy pajamas (Eeyore and Wonder Woman), two pair of cozy knit slippers, and two packages of undies.
@moondrake I do that too! I like to buy by twos! If it’s groceries, buy two bags of salad, two bottles of olive oil, etc. Online, I frequently buy by twos with the thought of one can be for my daughter.
“Noah’s Ark shopping” ha.
ETA: I’ve been consciously trying to buy just one of things recently. It’s hard. lol
@therealjrn Less frequently, at checkout I will notice that everything I’m buying has the same color box or label. It’s usually a color I am also wearing. I’m conscious of the doubles, that just feels right. The color thing is unconscious.
meh
I found a deal on some one-use alco testers. PM me for details.
@therealjrn
Pass. I don’t drink. Though maybe somebody else would be interested.
@mflassy
You could wander around the neighborhood trying to test everyone else …
@mflassy I thought I was the only adult on the planet that didn’t drink.
And how much do I owe you for a percentage of all the appletinis you don’t order??
@ruouttaurmind
I’ll be generous.
1% of the value of the cheapest one in Vegas.
@mflassy If I drank, they would be free in Vegas. So, ya, off the hook there.
@ruouttaurmind
How many tickets is a trip to Vegas?
@mflassy 10M tickets. Better start tossing the ol’ Skee Ball!
@ruouttaurmind
Hackable? Wi-Fi Krack hack?
@f00l Unknown at this time, but the cam downloaded a firmware update immediately, so hopefully that was a Krack patch.
@f00l Oh, unlike most Chinese WiFi cams, these do not create a open SSID to connect and set up. Instead, you configure the app, the app generates a QR code, then you point the cam at the code to download WiFi settings to the cam.
@ruouttaurmind
I dont know if that would prevent a theoretical attack or not.
But sounds better thanthe usual.
@ruouttaurmind
A bit confused.
It records snippets of video when it detects noice and sound? So it records all the time?
And those videos are available for 14 days?
@mflassy It will record upon motion detection (unsure about sound at this point) to the cloud and local SD card. Cloud recordings are available on a rolling 14 day timeline, though you can download recorded vids from the cloud. You can also record to a mobile device as you’re viewing the live feed. How often it is recording of course depends on how much activity is in the FOV.

Don’t buy the audiobook 1st unless it shows the right price!

On some of these deals, the Kindle book is not free. But it is usually very inexpensive. And you normally have to purchase the Kindle book first to get the discounted audible price.
Newegg (via eBay) is offering a Asus VZ279H frameless ultra-thin 27 inch IPS LED display for $135 with free shipping (and no sales tax to most states). A few dollars more than the AOC refurbished 27" offered here last week, but this Asus is BRAND NEW, not refurb. This same monitor on the newegg.com website is $200.
Asus product page: clicky here.
@ruouttaurmind Can that be used as a TV display? I have a cable box for tuning.

@f00l These are the best prices I’ve ever seen on these books.
According to amazon’s own banner ad, the sale runs through today, so…
@Nate311
I don’t know all the policies and laws.
@f00l
Should have read
“Three Kindle edition …”
Swipe KB hates me.
@Nate311
Call Amazon CS.
When you get the first representative, ask immediately to be xferred to a US based CS.
If need to, ask for an xfer to the Leadership Group (this used to mean something, it may not mean anything anymore).
Do not waste your time with an overseas, non-US based rep on this one.
Amazon can fix this, but I think you will have to sirnd some time in the phone with them. They don’t want to lost all your future digital sales.
Is anything about your payment method unusual?
They will want everything US based and addressed. You, your shipping address, all your payment methods.
I bet they fix it if you don’t do pestering them.
Every time you talk to them, emphasize that you want these items at the sale price.
Be sure to check that the sale is not ended.
If it is ended, emphasis that you tried to buy at the sale price, and amazon messed up your purchasing country info, so you could not get the price.
Ask them to fix the price or refund the difference for you.
If they don’t have a continuing not-great relationship with you from past events (this is very very rare), they will do all this.
@Nate311
Yeah but you don’t want this happening in the future with other digital purchases. Where they make an error on your country of residence.
So you want to fix this. Might as well be now?
If you wanna know current price, check Amazon with a diff browser (where you are not logged in), or check the Slickdeals thread.

@ruouttaurmind
Yeah I thought that offer was dead. Thx.
Anyone who has credits and gets down to one credit, will be offered a chance to purchase 3 more. Usually for under $10 a credit.
If you don’t get the offer in your browser, just call them. They’ve always done it for me.
Great during 2books-for-1credit sales (which usually offer a selection of 200-400 books to choose among.)
Last month I got a bunch of history stuff. Including, I think, Shelby Foote, William Manchester, and William and Ariel Durant.
That was a great offer.
As stated in this thread, I do not see the value of the DJI Spark Mini-Drone. But if it’s your jam, and you didn’t grab one here a couple weeks ago…
Target Black Friday deal: DJI Spark Mini-Drone for $400
To be honest, this is only a $50 discount from today’s price, and historically DJI prices fall rapidly after the initial romance period of a newer product.

Correction:
The NYT article on the Really Terrible Orchestra isn’t a review. I saw the link and posted it here before looking at the article.
It’s kind of a “guest introduction”, written by Alexander McCall Smith.
I believe the qualifications for joining the orchestra are:
Have access to an instrument
Bring the instrument to rehearsals and performances.
Attempt to play the music. Or attempt to play some music or other, asking with the orchestra.
They sound exactly like one would expect.
The public performances are commonly sold out.
DJI Mavic Pro, includes remote (that’s a big deal; you WANT the remote!) via eBay for $700, free shipping, no tax in most states.

(Slickdeals has a lot of discounted or free e-books mentioned each day. Many people ignore most of those that don’t have either good reviews or other notability; otherwise you can spend a fair amount of time and $ getting books and may be not much, that you may never have an interest in reading - even if the books are less than $1 each.)
However, usually some of them are quite worthy.
One of those LG Tone things is on sale. Was it @oldcatlady that wanted one? I was able to buy a white one- I think maybe most are sold out.

@sammydog01 It was I, and I bought a white one also. Thanks! @f00l might want one also.
@OldCatLady Is it nice? This was $17 refurbished. Which is a bit icky but I have alcohol.

Came here to post this.
(I already know own this. It’s a worthy “unreliable narrator” mystery.)
@f00l I have used the phrase “inaccurate historian” referring to a client in the past.
@therealjrn
Now I’m curious. Can you elaborate a little on what made this client an “inaccurate historian”?
Since you use there word “client”,
My Dad ran a small business his entire adult life. I fear I can guess.
@f00l “I never signed that. Nope, nope,nope.”
@sammydog01 Pretty close! It was when I was working in a drug rehab. “If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen.”
@therealjrn
@sammydog01
I’m sure there is an actual check that is actually in the mail in some alternate universe. Or in some filmscript.

I perceive that you possess the quality of “sceptical patience”.
@f00l Certainly, at the time. Nowadays…hmm…maybe not so much.

Note on these books:
@f00l These are great! Thanks!
@f00l maybe we need a new thread just for books/audible?
@RiotDemon Um. why?
@RiotDemon
Would be ok w me.
Perhaps could also be a book discussion thread?
@f00l Yes! Go for it!
@sammydog01
@RiotDemon’s idea.
Want her to create thread and intro the topic with her preferred tone and focus.
Ok, @RiotDemon? You up for this?
I do suggest not doing a monthly thread. A perpetual one. Unless it gets so long that we need a new one.
But that’s just a thought.
@therealjrn So people looking for deals on electronics don’t need to scroll through pages of books?

@therealjrn because books should be their own thing, and books tend to be discussed a lot more than other deals.

Buy together and save:
@ruouttaurmind Bought one for my child. I’m sure to be sorry. Thanks!
@ruouttaurmind mask off the fretboard with a couple of layers of masking tape them go after the frets with an emery cloth?
@djslack I have to do this kind of thing from time to time with hot rod parts that are polished or powder coated, deburring or shaving a few hundredths for fit. I’ve had great success with a layer of painters tape, followed with a layer of duct tape to ensure I don’t go too deep and mar the polished or painted surfaces. Imma try it here, then should be able to use a buffing head on the Dremel. There’s a bunch of fret ends needing the treatment, so doing it by hand would take an excruciating amount of effort.
@ruouttaurmind Duct tape over the masking tape is a great idea, I’m going to file that one away if you don’t mind.
It’s a shame you have to do your own finishing work but skipping out on labor must be how they get it to you so cheap.
Didn’t tag @medz properly, so, ya.
@ruouttaurmind thanks. Me didn’t have this issue

This is an absolute steal at that $400 price.
@mfladd
Losing it, are you?
But I believe it’s a great TV.
So, cool.
For the sake of transparency, in all fairness, I must admit that I have “lost it” over physical objects.
@ruouttaurmind Time and technology changes. Look back at the specs of an older computer, laptop or phone and their prices …
(Nevermind what storage used to cost 30-ish years ago …)

@ruouttaurmind Oh, man, this is going to be ugly. Thanks?
@ruouttaurmind I second what @sammydog01 said.
/giphy buried in books
@RiotDemon Done.
FYI: I’ve found a few of these sale books with the “Get this audiobook for $1.99 when you purchase the Kindle version”, with a few of the Kindle versions being a buck or two, or FREE. So be sure to check for that before springing a fiver on the audiobook only.
@ruouttaurmind Could you be more specific? That’s a lot of books to go through.
LOL!
@sammydog01
If a book at audible is labeled “whispersync-for-voice”, I always go straight to Amazon to check the combo price.
The best $ combos are usually going to be for classics.
@ruouttaurmind That is an AWESOME deal! Especially for the new colored ones.
@lisaviolet I paid $175 (no tax, free ship) for the machine, no bundle. There’s at least $30 value in the bundled items, so fair price for sure.
@ruouttaurmind Go to 2:15 - I made this card, it’s great.
@lisaviolet That. Is. AWESOME. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really like the thumbnail image for the vid too.
@moondrake I was thinking that Dyson looked heavy. Wheels are nice.
@moondrake
Can you get the tools to really grab the pet hair?
@moondrake Lowe’s has a bigger one, also a black Friday special. $40, originally $99. 6HP.
https://m.lowes.com/pd/Shop-Vac-12-Gallon-6-Peak-HP-Shop-Vacuum/50159065
@ruouttaurmind Damn. It’s $20 now. Oddly enough, the Dyson branded pet attachment doesn’t fit my Dyson allergy model.
@RiotDemon $13, no tax, free ship on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vacmaster-V1TN-1-1-4-Inch-Turbo-Nozzle/272933596815
I needed to buy a wall adapter for my Chromebook Plus. I was advised to look for a 45W wall adapter, but I didn’t like the prices.
Came across this deal:
iClever 7.2ft USB C to USB C 3.0 Cable + iClever 45W USB Type C Power Delivery Wall Charger + coupon code "ICPD45CC " = $13.99 for both items (plus Prime shipping).
The deal was adjusted.
CNET always delivers. This time it’s AMZN’s Cyber Monday deals. I just discovered that Prime members get even lower prices.
@OldCatLady do tell.
@OldCatLady Last year there were also a few Alexa order exclusives.
