Great price, but this is a no buy. This thing does 1080p/30fps in an era of 4K video. Even for 1080p, 30 frames a second is underwhelming. Also no mention if this includes the controller. Flying these things from your smart phone is not an excellent experience.
Again, great price in comparison to other sellers, still the specs just don’t match the price.
@ruouttaurmind yo man! I’m good, busy with (3) kids. Can’t say that I’ve had much flight time with the Mavic. Also haven’t been anywhere close to being interesting enough to film/fly. Every time I want to take to the skies, the damn thing needs a firmware update. By the time that’s done, the opportunity fades, I suck.
The Spark is interesting though, but agreed, this is not really a good deal w/o controller, and needs to be another $100 off!
@sportykev Also, the spark is readily available for $450 from several sellers, including Best Buy with immediate local pickup or Amazon with 2-day ship. Plus both offer extended warranty options. So there’s that.
I went through the 3 kids thing myself a few years ago. Raising my exes children was… a challenge to my budget and my hobbies (and my patience). It had it’s own rewards though.
@frd1963 Even if my final output is 1080p (it usually is) 1080p quickly falls apart in post. Filters, zooms, effects, even simple color processing really excels with more image data to start with. Most notably, zoom/crop or image stabilization on a 1080p sequence often becomes unusable, whereas 4K almost always produces a fine result.
@mehcuda67 That is usually the case for me too, but today I came to that conclusion on my own. I spent part of the afternoon realizing that there is painting and landscaping work that needs doing and I don’t think I want to do it myself, which means I need to ready the checkbook for incoming battle damage.
@djslack Great way to access those roof or chimney repairs that need to be done. Or if there’s any obstructions in the gutters. Everyone needs one for home maintenance! (Just about anything can be justified)
@RiotDemon Maybe she ought to leave it in there. Along with a few dozen more eggs. That girl needs to eat a sandwich or something. Apparently she spent all of her grocery budget getting those boobs inflated.
DJI Phantom 3 Standard that does 2.7K video, has 3 axis gimbal and real controller is often available refurbished (by DJI) for $349. Phantom 3 has longer battery life, much more stable in windy conditions, a great drone IMO.
If you’re a regular Meher, you’ve likely never heard of this particular drone or even this brand at all, in which case you’ll need to do some research and comparison shopping to determine if you can justify adding a $400 drone to your life. Or you’ll just hit the Meh button to keep your streak going and immediately close this tab. Don’t think we don’t know.
@khearn that could prove VERY costly to the drone pilot! Grounded Army helicopter, replacement of damaged main rotor, repairs to window frame and transmission deck, and possible fines from the FAA. $$$$$! Plus a visit from some serious officials. Unenviable position to be in, to say the least.
$400 for a drone? No way! I’m a sucker for a good sale…but “cheaper than other places” for something that is way overpriced is still overpriced! I mean…I was even considering $50 worth of candy corn because I was such a sucker for a sale on a melted block of corn-goodness…but Meh crossed the line with this one.
@dude Mavic is a significantly different craft. Mavic does 4k vid, 3 axis gimbal, nearly double the flight time, longer operating range… loads of other differences. Just because your Mavic is awesome, that doesn’t make Spark great.
DJI only offers warranty to authorized dealers. Products purchased from unauthorized dealers are not subject to warranty services.
Before making your purchase, please search the seller’s name here to ensure that they are an authorized DJI dealer.
@mwarren I’m not all that surprised that the manufacturer’s site hasn’t updated to include us for our limited time offer. I can tell you that the warranty information is correct as I see it on our end.
want a drone or RC airplane, car or truck?..BUILD your own, learn the hobby and vehicle and enjoy an accomplishment…RTR crap in RC is a no go. (yes, i build and race RC cars…been all over 3 continents doing it in 20 years)
@fastharry Isn’t that like, time consuming? If I was retired I’d totally be on board… but having to work, and like take care of kids and the house or whatever, when I have free time, the last thing I want to do is stuff.
Interesting. Kind of want it, but can’t afford it. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to afford one, you know when I can’t find a good deal in it. And then, technically I still won’t be able to afford it. Yup, sounds about right to me!
Can someone explain the “not stolen” reference? Is it referring to something in Mehstory (Meh History) that I’m not familiar with? Or, is it simply stating that this is a good price and that these didn’t “fall off a truck”?
Out of all these comments, not one about the product, seems everyone is trying to show how clever they are (Me included) some are funny some are not so funny, Then, of course, we all check back to see who stared us or commented back, I mostly, always come on to buy but enjoy the commentary, I want this drone, I watched the video how you control the drone with hand movement, wow, @ 200 I’m a buy all day long. I think I can find better things to do with 400 bucks but ty Team Meh for Stepping out of your comfort zone, Why do I have a strange feeling we will be seeing this every 30 day’s or so? hmmm LOL. Good luck on the new location hope you grow out of that one very soon also.
