Not-so-fantasy Football: Pick 'Em League
5Any interest in a cash money pick 'em league? Thinking something like a $20 buy-in, would run thru playoffs, pay-outs dependent upon sign-ups.
Basically, all you do is pick the winner of each football game this year, and some people will win money.
If you're new to / afraid of fantasy football, this is a little more reality-based. It's a fun way to stay aware of the general NFL happenings, adding some motivation to your RedZone viewing.

Hmmm. I might be interested. I was terrible at the only thing I've tried that was remotely close to this. I usually avoid throwing away more than $10 when I expect to fail.
Does the actual picking happen on a weekly basis? Are playoff games weighted more heavily than the regular season? (See... I know nothing.)
@christinewas we could potentially lower the $amount. Yes, you pick weekly. I was thinking we'd drop each person's lowest scoring week in case people forget to set their picks once. Good question about playoffs! I don't think so but I'll have a look.
I am intrigued.
I'd be interested, but not in putting money on the line. If you'll let me I'll play for the competition and then when I win you can just give the prize money to whoever had the highest score among those who actually paid in.
@jqubed fair enough. Most responses I've received are "meh. sorta into it" so I think we'll go ahead without $ and with an open invite. Details to come.

@jaremelz This is much easier than Fantasy Football. You just have to pick which team will win each game of the season. It goes week-by-week, not picking every game at the start of the season.
@jqubed Well, I went and joined. Ugh, I've been led down a dark path and I blame someone.
I'd love to join but Yahoo and I have a long standing feud and I can not access it. They hate me and I hate them. And I don't think I'll ever forgive them!

@christinewas Not sure when you posted this exactly but the setting says 5 minutes before the game. I guess that means the designated game time and not actual kickoff?

@becca Yeah, I was cutting it really close. It was less than 5 minutes before the scheduled game time.
The sad thing is that I was trying to pick my Broncos to win. (More of a loyalty pick than an I-think-they-will-win pick.) But, since everyone picked Carolina, I guess it worked out.
@christinewas From what I remember last year the rankings were based on whoever remembered to fill out the sheet every week.
