I didn’t buy into the hype and I guess it was a good decision. It seems they still have to fix many things about this game. (Specially the buggy things in the PC port.)
Haven’t heard of it, either. But, then again, I only hear names of games that the grandsons play. I don’t play games myself, never found them enjoyable, just very frustrating.
I’m with @ELUNO. I didn’t believe the hype. I also have a pc and as long as there’s port problems, I won’t play. I have a feeling I would enjoy the game, but I plan on waiting to get it when it goes on sale. $60 is just too much for me right now.
Sales and active players have dropped like rock on Steam. My son pre-ordered on PS4, I pre-ordered on PC.
Game sucks. Nothing at all like was shown in “actual gameplay” previews, and certainly nothing like was touted by the game’s creator in interviews over the last two years.
@Pavlov what features did you miss enough to return it? I’m finding my experience very much like the trailer. Short of the not being able to see other people (which I’m VERY glad for), the games pretty solid. And we’re three updates in already.
@InnocuousFarmer it’s the fact you can put fifteen minutes in and actually accomplish something, ya know? Turn it on, mine some titanium, get in and out of the ship, and turn it off.
@vanslaterco My theory is that it’s more the opposite. I fall victim to recursion or infinite digression whenever I try to engage with any of its grind mechanics. I want to upgrade my warp drive -> need to mine nickel -> where’s nickel -> oh look, a crashed ship -> need to repair ship and then mine nickel to upgrade warp drive on new ship -> need inventory slots to keep current crap when I switch ships -> inventory management -> hey look, it’s zinc. can’t throw away zinc. -> more inventory management -> ok, where was… oh right, that ship -> Ooohh, Vortex Cubes.
I am loving it, still playing and still headed slowly to the center of the universe. I guess I am lucky though that on my PC if unlocked I get 100+fps solid. Have it set to 60fps for screen tearing and after the first 15-20 seconds of the gameplay have never had a single stutter. The only bug I have run into is one where I take off from the ground and am suddenly catapulted into space at -600u. Definitely entertaining instead of game breaking.
Found a planet that was breathtakingly similar to the trailer with a giant Brontosaurus type thing (with antlers) ran in packs with other smaller creatures.
Most people are getting pissed that it is not the same as was shown … keep playing. with nearly 19 Quintilian planets there is a lot of variation and searching for that right planet.
Those people that are doing actual chargebacks for preorders should be charged double. You bought something that was not done yet based on 60 seconds of video and think the company is to blame? Stop preordering games. period. No bonus is worth it unless you are going to play the game anyway, good or bad, quit getting sucked into media hype and be responsible for your own actions.
@Kirgen Exactky. I preordered it. But had, and did, have 100% intentions of playing it. The game could have just been me flying from planet to planet, jumping around with a jet pack, and looking at animals, and I knew I would enjoy it.
@Kirgen@vanslaterco I see why the game is divisive now and overhyped before but I’m liking it. It’s a chill game and new planets still wow me enough to not feel repetitive. It’s definitely niche though and the creator always seemed confused or embarassed by the hype since this isn’t something that would be universally liked.
PC port runs fine for me on high, the game is basically exactly what I thought it would be so I don’t feel like anything is missing (and the rage saying so confuses me). My only complaint would be $60 is a lot for a game like this but in another month I’ll have played enough to make that not matter.
@evbarnstormer Exactly, I have 27 hours (a lot less than I would like at the moment but being on call for work . . . ) that is about a $2 per hour cost SO FAR. I have a weeks vacation coming up and that price per hour will drop significantly. Compare that to a movie which is anywhere from $5-10 per hour and you can’t go back to it when it is done the first time… My purchase was well worth it for me.
@vanslaterco I to preordered it. Just like I have dishonored 2 preordered… because even if the game was complete crap I will be playing it to death and back again. However, there are quite a few big name games coming out soon that I refuse to preorder until I see what they actually contain (be that from twitch or youtube) and can form an opinion on the games for myself, not just the hype surrounding them.
@Kirgen I don’t preorder games, ever. Honestly, this is the first new video game I’ve EVER bought. I’m USED till I die. But this the game I’ve been waiting for.
I picked this up for the ps4. I would say I’ve gotten my money’s worth with many hours of play. I will say after two week after upgrading most all my stuff I am running out of things to do in the game. I’m hoping they add more content soon.
I like the game the only thing I hate is always needing more space so I just started selling everything and prioritizing what I want to build and doing quick fly overs finding the huts with the exosuit upgrades
Your not the only one that neglects familial time, with this game. Luckily, my kids play with me, or watch me play, then take it away from me. It’s a pretty cool game
Refunds are now being issued regardless of playtime from Sony, Amazon and Steam. Steam daily players are now below 15,000 world-wide. Sony has hinted in a press release that the refunds are to avoid class action.
Jim Sterling did a great set of videos around the game (plus a review that angered some fans so much they DDOS’d his site).

@ELUNO they’re three updates in on PS4, so I think they’ll be ironing out some bugs pretty steadily.
I wish I could say you’re the only but sadly you’re not
Never even heard of it, TBH.
@RiotDemon
It’s probably the third most hyped game released this year.
Haven’t heard of it, either. But, then again, I only hear names of games that the grandsons play. I don’t play games myself, never found them enjoyable, just very frustrating.
This is a game that’s filled with horseshit imagery and lies

@ninjaemilee definitely get it when it’s cheaper. 70% of the hype was founded. By the time they lower the price, it’ll be 100%.

Returned the Steam copy for refund and started a chargeback on Sony.
Fuck Hello Games in the ass, with a buffalo dick, twice on Sunday.
Fucking wanker bastard shitball motherfuckers.

@vanslaterco Sorry for the late reply - this pretty much sums it up for me.
Me too. I don’t understand why. I haven’t lost time on a game like that in as long as I can remember.
@InnocuousFarmer it’s the fact you can put fifteen minutes in and actually accomplish something, ya know? Turn it on, mine some titanium, get in and out of the ship, and turn it off.

@Kirgen
Products are never as good as advertised, but sometimes they do exceed expectations.

I love it! It’s the first game that’s really sucked my Life away in a long time. Also, I haven’t seen snow on a planet yet!

Being a cheapskate, I will wait until it hits 39.99 or lower before I consider it… but I am looking forward.
@thismyusername
Pfft, amateur. Being a real cheapskate, I will wait until it’s free.
Totally feel the same way. Perpetually feeling like I’ll stop just after the next monolith…Ok maybe one more
@Einherjar13 IKR same thing I do oh one more oh one more

Has anyone found the atlas pass
@astroglide I started working on it today, actually!
@astroglide First atlas pass is only after you reach the first Atlas Interface.
I then spent about 10 hours searching every ops an manufacture center for V2 or V3 and finally got V3 (yes, before V2)

@Pavlov and yet they won’t drop the price…
@thismyusername Denial. But most likely contractual obligations.
@Pavlov I heard the steam refunds were errors. No clue about the others. I’m too busy swimming in a toxic ovmcean looking at weird af jelly fish.
