Need Cat Videos
7I have been sending Cat Videos to colleagues at a school I work in. I do this mid-day on Fridays, to help folks make it thru the last hours of the week. Some people have been amused by this.
So far I have been using videos that I’ve stumbled across, largely in these forums. I understand that there are many cat videos on the Internet, and I could search them out. However, I would rather select from a curated list. Could you please put your favorite cat videos in this thread?
Thank you.

Cats … on the internet? Well that’s unheard of …

@conandlibrarian Woo! Just look at you go!
@sligett
If you are serious, go to YouTube and search for “cat”. You won’t run out soon.
Also google for the “Cat Video Awards”.
Start here:

Or start here:

All Henri’s vids are worthy.
@f00l More serious than about Speaker Robots. Specifically, the search on YouTube is what I want to avoid. Thanks for your pointers!
@ELUNO
@ELUNO you responded to her eHarmony profile, right?
@ELUNO
Flakey as all get out, but a huge improvement over many Wall Street bound MBA’s - the type who go all sentimental and teary when they imagine themselves robbing all the grandmothers and grandfathers and orphans in the world.
@RiotDemon If only she had this enthusiasm for tarantulas…
@ELUNO
Cats can have that kinda enthusiasm for tarantulas. Tho it can be kinda a “love 'em and leave 'em” approach from the kitty side.
@f00l So I should marry a cat?!
@ELUNO
I know just the cat for you.
@PlacidPenguin !!! Do go on…
@ELUNO
Nah. I don’t want to put the cat in the horrible (yet funny) predicament scenario of having to turn you down.
@PlacidPenguin Aww
@PlacidPenguin
@ELUNO
The cat would enjoy that funny yet horrible predicament.
/giphy "cat rejection"
@PlacidPenguin Maybe a cougar?
@ELUNO I can give you a recipe for cooking tarantulas if that would make you happy…

@RiotDemon Aw. Thanks!
I like these cartoons.

@RiotDemon Yes Simon’s cat cartoons are great!!

Developer Outsources Job to China so He Can Watch Cat Videos
http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/01/17/developer-outsources-job-to-china-so-he-can-watch-cat-videos/
Warning, he got caught. Prob would have gotten caught anyway. But he was almost at a “please catch me” level of carelessness.
@f00l This guy is my new hero! Paying someone else 1/6 of your salary to do all your work while you surf Reddit, Facebook, and cat vids? Genius! They should have promoted him.
@2many2no
Hmmm. I think the basic idea was that he outsourced his work -
and violated his contract -
and violated his company’s security arrangement with their clients -
and lied to everyone -
and left obvious traffic from China (he could have communicated with them and collected their outsourced code at home and loaded it himself or something - he could have tried) -
he fedexed his security credentials to an unknown Chinese company -
he watched videos all day -
and best of all, he left the subcontract invoices on the hard drive at work. !!!
Among other issues.
Did he wear a t-shirt that said “catch me” also?
Not a winning plan. The article I read at the time the story hit indicated that the Chinese firm had provided excellent quality code. Of course none of it could be used without some sort of extreme audit, if at all. The company may have had to kill a lot of other possibly tampered or copied code and compromised architecture also and just start over.
I hope the employing company re-thought their security ground-up.
I imagine “Bob’s” career trajectory took a turn of some sort.
@f00l Oh, I see the company’s point of view in this case, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t rewarded in any positive way for what he did.
But sometimes if you want to find the most efficient way to do something, you assign it to the laziest person around to find out what shortcuts and work-arounds they’ll devise. Maybe you can’t use all of the ideas (for various reasons), but any efficiencies derived are a bonus, and it’s way cheaper than hiring a “consultant.”

My go-to video
@conandlibrarian 559+ minutes of joy. Can’t wait for my color changing/pulsing lightbulb to try it out with this song.
@conandlibrarian That’s actually preferable to Benny Benassi.
But in the long run, this cat and mouse game will make you go daft.
Thanks to all who have posted. I haven’t had time to watch them all yet, but I see there’s terrific material. Keep 'em coming!
More dog than cat, but an old favorite.
Dog and cat team up
And just cats.
How could I have forgotten the cat vs cucumber videos?
@moondrake If you hadn’t posted one, I would have
I find this one rather mesmerizing:
@heartny Yay! Thank you for my cat video of the week.
Hi all. Just bumping this thread so see if there are more cat video ideas. The final audience is often elementary school classes (if the videos are interesting, the teachers will show them in class).
Many thanks.
@sligett You do know you’re on the internet, right?
/youtube 10 hours of cat videos
@narfcake But given how long I spend just looking at a daily deal site, it would take (has taken) me days to find an acceptable cat video. I’m looking for help in curation.
Thanks for your contributions!
@narfcake Oh, and I shared this 10 hour compilation as this week’s video. Thanks!
Last week, I shared this –
This week, as we prepare for April break, I sent this:

Thanks, @narfcake
This week? I don’t know yet. Any ideas?

And that gave me a chance to educate the staff in how to view a video speeded up:
But what shall I do for this week? Any ideas?
