What limits these to carrying only wine, as opposed to other libations?
In my younger days, I would occasionally show up at a party with more than a couple bottles of booze plus my favorite mixers (which themselves were sometimes alcoholic, such as Lochan Ora; Lord, I wish I had bought a dozen or more of those and put them away when they were more available than currently].
Sure could have used a couple of these back then.
(But I’m pretty much past all that now…)

@Kyeh (Sorry about the slow reply. Was going to be back in early afternoon to check out Mehrathon offerings, but got caught up in computer rabbit holes. Looks like I didn’t miss anything much. First time in a long time I didn’t buy any junk to go with the IRK.)
IMO, Drambui and Lochan Ora are about as similar as Ginger Ale and 7Up, or maybe 7Up and Mountain Dew (i.e., maybe a lot, maybe not, depending on whom you ask). They were generally used for the same drinks, just depended on preference. My preference was definitely for the LO. It was only slightly more expensive than the Dram, back when I drank a fair amount of such things.) I originally ran into them in recipes for a Rusty Nail, which I got quite fond of, taste-wise. It got to be my favorite mixed drink. My wife didn’t care much for it, but liked the mix of Crown Royale Apple and Crown Royale Whiskey so we sorta shifted to that. But she much preferred just an occasional glass of wine for at home drinking.
The last bottle I had of Lochan Ora got taken when I was single to a neighbor’s party for a bunch of grad students, along with a bottle of Chivas Scotch. They must have thought they were in heaven and finished both my bottles. I easily got more whiskey, but couldn’t find the liqueur when I shopped.
A couple of years later when I got married, I asked a (3rd?) cousin of my wife’s who had several package stores if he would hunt up a bottle or two for me, as a wedding present – just find them, not buy them. He said he checked with his distributors and couldn’t find it available anywhere.
According to Google, Chivas quit producing LO about 2010, but it was more than 15 years prior when I could no longer find it, including in big chain stores in Dallas or Houston. So I’m not sure about that claim. Also, the given reason for not being produced was it was too expensive. HUH? Cadillac’s are expensive, but people buy them. And people are still willing to pay a lot for LO. Remaining bottles are sold online at hundreds or thousands per bottle. So, smh.
Let me know if you find a bottle. I’ll also throw in a bottle of Chivas.
ItMT, I won’t refuse a Rusty Nail made with Dram, but it will be second-tier, IMO.
For 10 bucks why is the IDK still available? I’ve already purchased it so it’s a little late for regret. At five bucks it was always a race to get one.
@f00l@gator3853@TimW When I checked about half hour ago, IRKs were still for sale.
But you can buy a couple only if you have a couple of accounts here.

After sharing 2 bottles of wine I think I’d be ready for a nap, not romance.

@phendrick Is that kind of like Drambui?

@gator3853 IDK either
@gator3853 @TimW
wish I had bought a couple
Specially, since they’re insulated to some degree
But I was up all night and then slept all day and then didn’t wake up in time
Various excuses but that sort of teenagers’ schedule for my day/night exist in this case, but they’re stupid and I won’t mention them
