I want to take another flight with my Uncle Harry in his Cessna. He used to fly from Las Vegas to Laughlin, have breakfast and throw a little money in the slots, then fly back, a couple of times a month. He loved that plane, and flying with him was always a treat.
As a pilot without wings (sold my last airplane, a fork-tailed doctor killer (aka a V35B Bonanza), some years ago), a BFR, or current medical, I miss flying, the fabled $100 hamburger, and the conversion of money into noise.
I’ve looked at clouds from both sides, seen the glory many times (pilots understand what that is), as well as navigated the interiors of many, many of them (instrument rated), and on the whole enjoyed the journey more than getting to a destination.
Still a member of AOPA, I keep up, and watch a lot of aviation videos on YouTube, where to me an instrument flight in IMC is interesting and entertaining in keeping the scan and situational awareness going, instead of being worse than watching paint dry.
I consider occasionally getting an LSA and getting back into the air, if only for short, mental health trips. I love to fly!
Some are car crazy. Me? I’m a wing nut, now and have been since I was a wee tyke riding on the crossbars of Bob Buckley’s bike to view LaGuardia from across the marshes and all the army planes coming and going back during WWII.
It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve been on a plane. I really regret when I was a kid, not going on my dad’s cousin’s seaplane. I was so damn introverted I was scared to go on the plane because it would just be me and him and I didn’t want to have to talk to him. I would jump at that opportunity if it happened again today.
I just want to stay home and watch the helicopters that fly overhead.

The National Aviation Day (August 19) is a United States national observation that celebrates the development of aviation.
@ThunderChicken. Looks like you made a bot buddy. I’m jealous.
I’m a day late but my boyfriend and I are going planespotting today!
