Name change options
1I think it’s weird that your name is stored with your address and your address is stored with your billing info. I recently attempted to update my name, but found it difficult to do without updating legally all my information. Can’t I just say my name is Ora now and not have to jump through such hoops?

I believe the address/billing being tied together is in case your account was ever hacked, the hacker wouldn’t be able to change the shipping address but still use your card on file.
@Ignorant But how does it help to stop me from updating my name?
@DoctorOW because your name is tied to your billing info, since that’s the only time it would be used on meh.
@Ignorant Also, for the record I’m not trying to be a jerk to you or anyone else at Meh. I just think the task I’m trying to accomplish should require a lot less work than it did. I’m not really that angry, it’s just really annoying.
@DoctorOW jerk.
@Ignorant Oof. My bad.
Doesn’t the billing name have to match the name on the credit card exactly? Did you legally change your name and also inform your credit card company of your new name?
@cengland0 Billing name and shipping name are separate. FedEx does no checks for legal name before delivering.
@DoctorOW I know FedEx wouldn’t do any name checking before delivering (unless it was a package requiring a specific signature) but I was referring to the billing piece. Many merchants do a name and address verification check during the purchase phase of the transaction. I know this because I worked for the credit card company (In early 1990’s) and was on the receiving end of those calls.
Now electronic (AVS) methods of verifying that data exists. Meh does this verification because I’ve seen many threads posted about people trying to purchase but meh declined the transaction due to name and address verification mismatch. Usually the AVS service will still approve the charge and return a code that shows how close the address matched or not matched. The merchant then decides if they want to risk the purchase or not because they would be the one charged back for any fraud that may occur.
The billing and shipping addresses don’t need to match on meh because I’ve bought many items here to ship to other people in different states as gifts. But at the very least, your billing name and address must be the same as what the credit card company has on file.
@cengland0 No the names don’t have to match. You can bill to a different name. Se the screenshot below. It’s being shipped to Ora, but the credit card name is Olivia.
@DoctorOW Didn’t I mention that the name only matters in the Billing section? I don’t know what new information you’re trying to prove with your image.
