@chienfou@craigthom@heartny I find that bitter (but I do like cacao ‘coffee’ over regular coffee; both are bitter, and could use milk, I just prefer the cacao aroma)
@heartny@medz@Salanth@unksol
Yeah - some restaurants have started serving “pot pies” that are just the filling with a puff pastry topper on it; good, but not really a pot pie, IMO.
@heartny@Kyeh@medz@Salanth@unksol Cheddar’s pot pie has been top-crust-only for ages, but they’ve also reduced the size of them so much that I’d need two. Before Marie Callender died, her restaurants made one of the best pot pies available. Three days after she passed, they were barely average. I haven’t been back since, and all of the locations near me have closed.
Though they are mostly sweet (and succulent), peaches, apricots, and pineapple have a savory profile on their own (pineapple can also be lightly brined in salt water to remove some of the puckerishness, but also making it more savory).
Something salty.
One that activates the flavour saver!
pig ears from costco
a head of garlic is nice
@Mehlachi
Is chocolate savory?
@heartny Salted chocolate kinda is…
@heartny @shahnm salt’s a flavor enhancer
… until you use so much it becomes its own flavor.
Cocoa butter on the other hand…
@heartny @pakopako Salt is my favorite food group.
@shahnm Chocolate is my favorite food group.
@heartny Chocolate is savory if you don’t put sugar or any other sweetener in it.
It was used in a savory, spicy drink for thousands of years before the Spanish put sugar in it.
@craigthom @heartny
Or like this:
@chienfou @heartny I wouldn’t call someone with that much sugar in it savory, but OK.
“cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, sugar, soy lecithin emulsifier, natural flavor, vanilla extract, chili extract, and soybean”
@chienfou @craigthom I use 100% cocao powder in my smoothie. Does that count as savory? Or just bitter?
@chienfou @heartny is it sweet?
@craigthom Nothing added to the cocao powder. It’s just the powdered beans. Smoothie itself is not sweet.
@chienfou @craigthom @heartny I find that bitter (but I do like cacao ‘coffee’ over regular coffee; both are bitter, and could use milk, I just prefer the cacao aroma)
Sunflower seeds
Something chocolate or something ice cream.
@Kidsandliz Thing 1 + Thing 2 = chocolate ice cream…
@Kidsandliz @shahnm
Not savory, though.
@Kidsandliz combine that is perfect!
@Kyeh @shahnm It may not be savory but I will savor it.
/showme savory family size chicken pot pie, steaming on a break room table. Nancy from HR is secretly impressed
@mediocrebot hell yeah
@medz That looks wonderful. I hope it has a bottom crust.
@heartny @medz Why does it need a bottom crust?
@heartny @medz @Salanth it doesn’t NEED one but I also prefer my pot pies to have full crust. The sides/bottom bake differently and are good.
Argumentatively is it really a pie without the crust? Or is just soup casserole with pastry topping? Regardless Id be happy with it

Pot-laced potato: the twice baked potato that bakes you back.
Though honestly, I would eat a mozzarella log, no questions asked.
/showme a delicious savory snack with chocolate
@mediocrebot looks like a Hershey’s Take 5
Something cheesy
@craigthom NO, Everything Cheesy!
Something fruity
@hchavers Like You?
@hchavers what savory fruits?
@craigthom @hchavers Tomatoes are a fruit.
@hchavers @Salanth There are culinary fruit and botanical fruit.
When discussing food, nobody calls tomatoes or cucumbers or chiles or black pepper “fruit” (except people who think they are being smart).
@craigthom @hchavers if we’re being snarky, avocado.

@craigthom @hchavers @pakopako
And there’s watermelon pickles.
Something with a salty crunch.
Bacon. Meaty, savory, crunchy, salty, yum.
@werehatrack You can almost never go wrong with bacon.
/giphy bacon
@werehatrack It turns out
\giphy

I blame the .
/showme bowl full of savory nuts. Guy just told a twss joke and is winking
@medz you meant Deez nuts I assume
/showme fried pickle canoe
I guess it secretly has a motor underneath, and he’s using the pole to run the controls.
@xobzoo
It’s best if you don’t overthink these things!
Krispy Kreme
@somf69 Maybe if you get one that’s got bacon crumbles on it - does Krispy Kreme do that?
@Kyeh @somf69 It’s Canadian, so yes of course
@Kyeh @pakopako @somf69
What’s Canadian… the bacon or Krispy Kreme ?
@Kyeh @somf69
According to their website, no. And I’ve never seen it at one of their locations when I’ve helped pick up a load of them.
@chienfou @Kyeh @somf69 yes
