Thanks in for one.
I had forgotten that vmp gets free shipping and 10% discount over there. Neat. Is there s listing of all VMP benefits?
@connorbush Yep - they’re listed on the membership page.

I have never heard of this… I just got 2! One for me, one for a friend. Wine for everyone!!!
Sidenote: I currently have 6 bottles of wine under my bed from Nocking Point…
@MzSooze better under your bed than under your mattress LOL
@Kidsandliz Very true!
Thanks @conandlibrarian. MorningSave virgin no more for me too. I can’t wait to use my $5.40 wine opener with my $5 headphones to drink my $14 bottle of wine.
@ACraigL I see no $5 headphones…!
@connorbush sorry… meant the boom swap ones from a few days ago on meh.
This was my first purchase, too. I’m putting them in my car to give to the next two friends/family members who have crappy corkscrews.
I don’t drink wine, but I’m tempted to get it for the random bottle I cook with. I wish the other thing was a stopper instead of a pourer.
I just bought one at the dollar store though, doh.
@RiotDemon You could fill the pourer hole with sugru, oogoo, or silicone, and voila! Stopper!
@djslack haha, I came back to respond to myself that I’m sure I could fill it with the resin I have… But you beat me to it, thanks.
I have yet to buy anything/want anything from morning save, but I keep checking.
I prefer a waiters corkscrew, but you did get me to check the site - and they have steam cleaners! Was about to go rent one, for the same price I can buy one at morning save. Thanks, Meh!
@MrGlass why is the waiters corkscrew better, if I could ask?
@RiotDemon For reference, a waiter corkscrew is one of these:
Simple and compact, you screw it in like a normal corkscrew, and then swing the hinged metal flap down so that it is parallel to the cork. Then instead of struggling to pull the cork out, you can easily use leverage against the wine bottle.
It is simple but effective. I’ve seen too many people struggle to figure out how fancier corkscrews work. I’ve also had fancier corkscrews (particularly discount ones like that on morning save) fall apart in my hands. A waiters corkscrew is so simple to make, its hard to get a truly bad one. Waiters like them because they’re compact/light enough to fit in a pocket.
They’re super cheap, and I’ve seen wine companies give them out as promotional items. Ask your local liquor store, they might have a free one.
@MrGlass I actually bought a waiters corkscrew at the dollar store recently on a whim because my last corkscrew broke when opening a bottle a while back. I had no idea how to use it, and haven’t needed to open a bottle of wine since. I just figured I better have one on hand in case my brother shows up with wine one day for him and our mom. I mean, we’ve opened a bottle before using a drill, a screw, and a pair of pliers… Your reply is really helpful, thank you.
Almost every review I’ve found for this was a paid review. Quite annoying. I mean… It’s $6, not like it’s a huge loss if it sucks.

@RiotDemon probably because it was a $50 corkscrew
You’re not alone!

@jbartus I finally got to test it out on a bottle of wine today. It was a little fiddly to get the cork started, but I think I usually have that problem anyway due to lack of wine drinking around here for practice. The ratcheting action very easily pulled the cork out.
I kinda regret not buying two since its no longer for sale.
@RiotDemon I bought three, they’re functional but nothing special IMHO. Just another take on the butterfly corkscrew concept with completely unnecessary ratcheting introduced. They’ll do the job but I expect them to be comparatively fragile in the long haul.
@jbartus with the lack of wine I open, I imagine mine would last into the next century.
@RiotDemon heh. My point was simply that they needlessly complicated the design for a sales gimmick. They’re definitely functional.
@jbartus I think it might of been slightly easier than a butterfly to open, but that’s just me.
@RiotDemon
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I dunno, I’m personally a big fan of the waiter’s corkscrew myself, these were for my mom.
