@ruouttaurmind
She and I are referring to an audiobook discussion. With spoken word, extreme fidelity is not really relevant. Many older audiobooks were not, in the old days, even recorded in true high fidelity. Many audiobook cd’s are ripped at low-Fi. Nobody minds.
It’s cool. And audiobooks and spoken word media stream very well and will prob sound decent on these.
And if you’re getting your music from Spotify or similar, aside from the fact that it’s really hard to get good fidelity in any earbuds (individual fit is critical, and even then it’s nothing like cans), what do you care if your buds didn’t cost $800 and have the name “Sennheiser” or similar on them? For streaming? Spend $15 (my philosophy).
If you want decent musical sound from bluetooth, one thing to look at is the over-the-ear bt cans from Sony. Frequently on sale for $100 or so.
These are $15. Perfect for my daily use unless they suck. Amazon reviews say they don’t suck. Hope that’s true.
@f00l Thanks for your input. I primarily (only) listen to audiobooks. Oddly, I find low fidelity tracks distracting. For example Douglas Adams Dirk Gently books are only available in low-fi versions and for whatever reason it bothered me the whole way through the book. When I download my audible stuff I always choose the highest quality for this reason. I just upgraded the Bluetooth dongle in my car ( The old one was Bluetooth 2.0; the new one is Bluetooth 4.0 and have really appreciated a dramatic improvement in the sound quality.
@ruouttaurmind
Currently using an old but good set of LG Tone 750’s for audiobooks.
If I like the book I stop hearing the snap crackle hiss or whatever. I just get into the book. Am I pretty tolerant of low-Fi books also because I know they’re low/Fi but still great recordings. Part of my mind just says “ok cool” and goes forward.
I can listen to Scourby narrate all day. The recordings are crap from ye olde days, but that voice!
@Stumpy91 Yeah, if you’re not already VMP, this is only $5 off the Amazon price (I’d say you also get a month of free shipping with VMP, but I, too, am 0 for 2017 so far…)
Though blue at Amazon is $50! Sheesh. I wonder why tooth colored is so much less expensive.
@AmazingChicken yes. Perhaps Motorola (Lenovo?) isn’t even aware these weren’t already put into consumer hands and they were sourced from a third party. Maybe because a stack of pallets was discovered in the corner of a mega-store like Walmart’s warehouse (perhaps even a corner of Motorola’s own warehouse?).
Either that or the pallets were discovered in a stolen goods warehouse bust years after they were stolen.
@ruouttaurmind They hate us now. They’d rather spend their time concocting stupid-ass schemes to appease the east coasters than give a damn about the demographic that made them successful in the first place.
Not saying that “sparkle” is added in any way, but if the music has fine detail in it then you’ll hear a lot more of it.
if you have to feel around for the end call button, the person on the other end is going to hear ALL OF IT since the microphone is right beneath it. Lots of loud rustling noises. Oops. Not enough for me to list as a full-on downside, but still… kind of annoying.
I see these now come in blue, which makes me even more sad that they don’t come in red. You see, I have a sickness. A sickness which has yet to be defined (or even acknowledged) by Science, in which I have an overwhelming love (some, like my wife, would say “unhealthy obsession”) for black things with red trim, or red things with black trim, or… well, you get the idea. If these came in red, I’d sell 4 of my 5 pints of blood (or at least my black/white Buds) to get a set. Maybe one day.
Oh, and it uses some Apt-X protocol for things to sound better that apparently isn’t or wasn’t Apple supported.
Based on the teaser e-mail, I was really hoping it was another electric toothbrush. I missed the one last week. Don’t know how much longer I can go without brushing my tooth.
@werekong no. Redundant with your profile. The lack of a V next to your username indicates you are not paying for VMP. That and the fact that you’ve placed a single order.
Don’t get me wrong - even tho I’ve probably ordered 3 times over the past 3 or 4 months, meh most certainly drained their launch promo/deal subsidy budget long ago… based upon the deals now vs the first 12-18 months. Meh ain’t what it used to be.
@RedOak Now that’s kind of different, a site making up a profile instead of the person providing it…I probably wouldn’t have known, since I checked it out for the first time as a result of your comment. Talk about Big Brother watching…
The fact that I said that I probably wouldn’t consider paying for VMP made it obvious that I was not a VMP member…why even mention the absence of the V next to my username? …it’s as though you’re implying that I was passing myself off as a member when I wasn’t. I really don’t get your point. Perhaps you misinterpreted mine, as well.
4 pm inventory vanished before my eyes. Added one to cart, went to check out, Meh said my credit card expiration was invalid (which it wasn’t) and then OOS. Disappointing, and debating the future value of my VMP.
I bought these for under 20 refurbished on Yugster and they work great. Just search Motorola SF500 on Ebay, under $20 and free shipping. I drive a delivery Vehicle 6 days a week and can leave the phone in my truck with little to no interruption of stream at long distances. I run them from 8 a.m. till 3-4 p.m. Missing this deal is, well…just Meh.

@szadourian This site has one item for sale per day, and occasionally, if an item doesn’t sell out, VMP members have an additional 6 hours to buy it. Most people watch the site at midnight EST, and (hopefully) buy that day’s item. These headphones, BTW, are wonderful, and I only wish I’d bought more to give as gifts.

Bluetooth offerings are back!!!
/giphy thanks meh
Damn. Still 0-fer-2017, meh.
@huja Me too!!
/giphy twinsies
@huja they are trying to shake off all the VMPs so they can make that sweet sweet shipping money when they sell something we want.
@thismyusername I’m actually fascinated to know the process and numbers they crunched to come up with the new VMP policy.
@huja what’s the new VMP policy?
@stinks vmp is no longer available to new members
@wickhameh Looks like that’s as of March 1? https://mediocre.com/forum/topics/last-chance-to-join-vmp-is-closed-to-new-members-after-this-month
Apparently someone does read the discussions. In for one. @f00l, comments?
@OldCatLady
Already recommended them for you in the book thread. Bought some as backups since cheap.
The form factor is perfect for audiobooks.
Hope sound battery comfort pairing etc are decent.
If not, I’ve spent more on bad meals that left me either hungry, unhealthy, or both.
Btw i didn’t checkout the controls. Perhaps they suck. But they prob don’t.
On quick inspection the controls look adequate. So keeping the order.
@f00l No concern RE: BT 3.0? Low fidelity innit?
@ruouttaurmind

@f00l I hadn’t heard from you and thought you might be taking a break. Now I wonder what other desirable items might show up IRT some threads…
Fugly as yuck
Heads up
I’m always up for cheap headphones…in for 1. This just became my work set.
The white product on a white background looks bad on my phone.
i see the picture of them is white, but i’d pick them up if i could get them in black…
@mistarnova Tomorrow’s meh item: black spray paint.
@mistarnova Sharpie.

@stinks I’m a long standing VMP member since back in the day when it seemed worth it. Not so sure why I am VMP now.
Crap, I accidentally clicked the meh button, breaking my multi-month streak of not clicking the meh button. Time to delete my account I guess.
@awk This better not be a bamboozle
@awk I did the same thing!

Perfect form factor for audiobooks if you are always on the move.
Unless you hate this form factor of course.
/giphy gorgeous-pleasant-boundary
What good is that when Motorola apparently refuses to warrant these?..90-Day warranty by Meh.
@RedOak probably cause they’re an old release. Soon’s I saw the ends I thought “mehmehmehmeh”

short warranty might be better. seems like they crap out fast, if at all, according to Amazon reviews.
Not exactly accurate. Motorola specification sheet states up to 10 hours.
@ruouttaurmind i charge it every 3 days, use it on my commute to and from work
Fucking breaker. Ugh. Just take my fucking money, Meh. I’m here. Sell me one. Fuck the east coasters.
@SpenceMan01
Wow that was fast. Looking at the map, blame Montana.
@f00l Most in MT look to be going to somewhere on the edge of the Canadian border. Shipping relay point for Canada?
@ruouttaurmind
There’s a thought. To Calgary or Regina or someplace kinda nearby you think?
Don’t have very many to sell, apparently…
@robson Well, not to the midnight crowd anyway. Look for the 8am allotment to be double or triple this number.
@ruouttaurmind They hate us now. They’d rather spend their time concocting stupid-ass schemes to appease the east coasters than give a damn about the demographic that made them successful in the first place.

Anyone know if these have the software that will read your text messages, etc as they come in like the LG ones?
I have yet to see a product/item on meh that would make me to want to consider the paid membership.
@werekong the content of your comment is redundant.
@RedOak Because others have said the same thing? …so, I’m not the only one.
@werekong no. Redundant with your profile. The lack of a V next to your username indicates you are not paying for VMP. That and the fact that you’ve placed a single order.

Was this deal sold out? If yes, do you still any left for VIP members?
@szadourian VMP members have to purchase it on the same day, or in the six hours after the next deal starts if it’s not sold out.
If there’s any left after that, it probably goes to morningsave.com, to be sold on another day here, or whatever else they feel like doing with them.
@RiotDemon @szadourian
