@medz *thought. Seriously, we have a foscam in there now along with a audio-only baby monitor (more reliable than foscam audio stream) as well as one of those "outdoor" remote temperature sensors so we can see what the temp in our wee one's room is. Her room gets a lot of sun in the evening, so it's hotter than the rest of the house. 3 devices in one!
@studerc I stupidly spent a lot of money on a baby cam over at woot. I was suckered that it was the #1 sold on Amazon, and cheaper than amazon. I should have just invested in an IP cam. The one I bought is great, just not $150+ great.
If this was cheaper say 5 dollars i would buy one ;) I would find it useful to make sure my father can always yell at my mother, put the camera on him and when he yells for her hopefully she has the receiver otherwise bah well at least it wasn't 35 dollars!
@yakkoTDI also, double cookie for you as I see you are a fellow TDI owner, be it Audi, Merc, Bemer or VW, TDI owners unite! Mines a Jetta 2012 jetta, love the darn thing... cheap to maintain and awesome gas mileage
This is good if your mom comes and watches the kid and DOESN'T have a smart phone. I mean, even grandma's have smart phone's these days, but you never know.
Sweet! I've been waiting for an easy way for the NSA to monitor my baby. Thanks meh! Edit: Nevermind, this isn't the internet of things, it's just radiowaves so it's whatevs.
Baby monitor? I see a fishing rod monitor - so I can eat pistachios and watch reality TV while my bait looks for a mouth to swim into down at the dock.
Wow one comment in 6 hours? So according to the warranty link, this is made by Binatone but branded a Motorola (which makes sense since Motorola went out of business 4.5 years ago). That said it actually seems like a decent warranty, they cover you for a year, even if the batteries leak or loose capacity more than 80 percent. However I found a strange section which I will paste below which makes me question their attention to detail:
"What will BINATONE do? BINATONE or its authorized distributor at its option and within a commercially reasonable time, will at no charge repair or replace any US and Canada 1-888-331-3383"
That is pretty cool they can repair two whole countries, but I am a little nervous about being replaced...
@mehdaf Not so sure they are out of business. They split into two independent companies: Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. I just bought a Moto360 watch that is made by a Motorola company somewhere.
I like how the antenna (seen on the last picture) makes it look like it has a tiny robot penis. Leave this thing on overnight and in the morning your speaker dock is pregnant.
@medz I totally have to remember that next time in court. "That was just my temperature sensor, your honor! It has to stick out for science reasons! I was only being scientific and have no idea why the water park security guys overreacted like they did!"
Ugh, my other baby monitor died, so I semi-impulse bought this one without checking the reviews.
Terrible monitor--first the worst: It has a connection alarm so that if it loses connection, it beeps (THREE times). Pretty standard. But it loses connection every 10 minutes or so and you CANT turn off the beep. So if you're a light sleeper, you get to hear it beep all night.
And then in the middle of the night when you fiddle with the menu to try to turn off the beep (you can't), if you change ANY settings, the parent unit goes through a scan cycle to find up to 4 baby units. As it scans, it will beep EVEN LOUDER and wake up your irritated spouse who will glare at you with that "why did you buy this bargain bin piece of junk" look.
I think the best option to solve your problem is get a long range+best quality Baby monitor.That will be the only helpful thing for you to have at this stage so do not waste time and do 1 time investment for Good quality Baby monitor to have an on him/her.

Pretty sure all of the foscams I've bought from y'all could fit any future need I could possibly have for this. Pass.
@telepheedian i though the same, but it has a temperature sensor!

Oh my...a baby item? An actual baby item. Too bad I'm using a DropCam for this very purpose. Diapers, Meh...I need diapers....
@studerc Cheap diapers. Lots and lots and lots of them. I have 2 in diapers. Oh the poo.....
@studerc I stupidly spent a lot of money on a baby cam over at woot. I was suckered that it was the #1 sold on Amazon, and cheaper than amazon. I should have just invested in an IP cam. The one I bought is great, just not $150+ great.
@lichme I bought my DropCam off @thumperchick. It has been working quite well and ill be able to purpose it into something different in the future.
@studerc I'm so glad that worked out well for you guys.
@studerc Did you clear the DNS, proxy server stuff? Thumperchick might be spying on you!

This is great when you have older kids and you need to know if they are headed to mommy and daddy's bed room
@somf69 What could possibly be doing mommy and daddy that they would need such a thing for kids to avoid the bedroom?
@jareza Duh. Wrapping Christmas presents.
@jareza "wrestling"
@yakkoTDI, man alive, "Wrapping Christmas presents" is immediately my favorite new euphemism.
@haydesigner ..."but mommy and daddy that looks more like UN-wrapping Christmas presents"
@somf69 Enough "wrapping Christmas presents" and you'll need more baby monitors. Win-win!
@yakkoTDI you sir, win the internet, have a cookie
@yakkoTDI also, double cookie for you as I see you are a fellow TDI owner, be it Audi, Merc, Bemer or VW, TDI owners unite! Mines a Jetta 2012 jetta, love the darn thing... cheap to maintain and awesome gas mileage
But the baby doesn't come with it?? Meh.
Pirate Neckbeard always gets top billing.
No baby arm? Really?!
@tomvarela IK,R?
Lots of terrible reviews on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MBP621-Digital-1-8-Inch-Infrared/product-reviews/B00MA8LTS2/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=helpful&reviewerType=all_reviews&filterByStar=one_star&pageNumber=1
How far from the camera can you get and still get reception?
I'll do you one better - I'll sell you a baby for $25
This is good if your mom comes and watches the kid and DOESN'T have a smart phone. I mean, even grandma's have smart phone's these days, but you never know.
Aw, pirate baby. I want one.
Sweet! I've been waiting for an easy way for the NSA to monitor my baby. Thanks meh!

Was hoping for a familiar manniquen to make an appearance on the sample image

@mehdaf You might need a matching US and Canada set, however.
The Product Designers had fun with that antenna on the baby unit. Or is that baby unit on the baby unit?
@RedOak You have a dirty mind. I like that.
The Amazon reviews say this thing is small and a piece of junk.
@brentnice That's also what she said.
@medz you have no idea
I like how the antenna (seen on the last picture) makes it look like it has a tiny robot penis. Leave this thing on overnight and in the morning your speaker dock is pregnant.
@Starblind That's the temperature sensor. It has to stick out so it doesn't pick up heat from the unit itself.
@medz I totally have to remember that next time in court. "That was just my temperature sensor, your honor! It has to stick out for science reasons! I was only being scientific and have no idea why the water park security guys overreacted like they did!"
@Starblind Well, temperature is one of the reasons why human males have external reproductive organs.
All baby monitors are unreliable s**t, but this one is at least cheap. Why not.
