The Meh button is what you press if you don’t want any of these drones. It can’t fly at all. It’s a bunch of pixels. Seriously, why do you people love it so much? It sucks.
Not. My. Fault. Some evil soul at meh HQ dreamed up that bit of ugliness and passed it out like a crack dealer on a street corner.
I have a Cheerson CX-10W, which I believe the MOTA JetJat Ultra is a rebranded version of. They look identical, with the exception that the Cheerson model is controlled with your phone, using sliding controls onscreen. It’s a bit awkward compared to using a traditional controller, but still fun. (I find the regular CX-10, which has a controller, more natural.) It’s pretty neat seeing a live view of what your drone is seeing. If you get close to the edge of the range, however, the live feed starts to stutter and drop frames. The price is good for what these are.
I have one, bought sometime last year.
It works decently, has a nice auto land feature.
The small flying time is super annoying.
I’ve used it 3 or 4 times. Haven’t touched it in months, and not overly tempted to.
@haydesigner The Ultra has a rated five minute flight time (assuming the battery is young), 25-30 minute charge time. So for uninterrupted play time, you will need a minimum of 6 batteries. I suggest getting a six (or more) port charger.
Quadcopters are hard on batteries. The capacity will shrink over time. When the battery reaches 80% of capacity, it will also have a lower maximum current. After the batteries go through 25 to 100 charge-discharge cycles, your flight time will be noticably shorter, and there will be noticably less power. Don’t be surprised when you need to buy more batteries.
@haydesigner@ncr100 I get my batteries through eBay if I have time to wait for shipping from China, or whichever US hobby supplier has what I want, if I want it faster.
New small quadcopter designs use a CPU with built in remote control radio. The older quadcopters have a separate chip for talking with the remote control.
Actually, it is a remote control transceiver with built in Arm processor.
That dramatically cuts down on the number of parts needed, and printed circuit board real estate required. The Arm processor can derive its clock from the radio, so one less crystal.
With everything on one chip, they don’t need PCB space or the chip pins for communication between chips.
@hamjudo While I don’t disagree with that on theory. In this case I stand by what I said. These are all based on the same design, each one adding features/enhanced battery as the models go up.
The price difference on amazon is due to the older models only being available by 3rd party sellers, who have them priced high compared to current market value.
Nothing gives the basic model a higher value than the top model. The middle model will also have a higher perceived market value since it adds a camera, however as the battery remained the same it significantly affects flight time.
@usr2284a The older model isn’t worth more, it just cost more to make. Some resellers actively adjust prices on old inventory. Other resellers set a price when they add something to their catalog, and rarely change prices later.
@ESQuireTech i have not been able to register this or get the app. Website does not work and I’ve been waiting 4 days for an answer via! Messenger. I haven’t had the time to learn to fly it yet.
@ESQuireTech For Android, I keep getting directed to “Tencent JetJat”, which matches the screenshots I see of people using an app for these, but I can’t get it to connect and see a lot of issues in reviews since last Android update.
Hoping someone finds/knows a good app for these - bought a couple for the fam so my Yuneec Breeze goes left unused for me .

More Droning on and on and on…
No phones just drones
All my little drones like this wont hold a charge anymore
@stoopkid If only there was some way to search for and buy things on the Internet, eh?
@stoopkid Did you keep them in the refrigerator?
This is clearly the correct choice
More toys! Keep it up.

Hoverboards,drones…boy if this was 3 years ago all of this stuff would be the in fad. Whats next Meh? Razor scooters and tickle me elmos?

This is a surprisingly not crap product for a Saturday.
They must not have many of them and feel they would sell out on a weekday.
But can I fit one in my wallet?
@mbimeh
/giphy costanza wallet
@nolrak but my wallet isn’t that big.
I have one, bought sometime last year.

@hamjudo @haydesigner great points, are the batteries readily findable? Recommended website?
Thanks for the tips meh-ers.

@hamjudo @haydesigner Thank you !
The drone wars are coming, the drone wars are coming. 1 if by land control, 2 if by IC A.I.
What am i missing the cheapest one on amazon is the most expensive here and vice versa…mistake meh?
@mellowirishgent 3rd party sellers for outdated products is what you are missing. The pricing structure here is correct.
@mellowirishgent @usr2284a Old designs are frequently more expensive to make.

These things are too small. If there’s ANY breeze at all, the wind will toss them around.
They’re also very hard to control.
$10 is probably the right price for this toy.
“You N’er Know When You’ll Need A Nano”
Yep, sounds like a great pickup line. “Hey baby, I got a nano.”
Cheap enough to buy, crash and trash.
Too bad limit is three per person.
@liammc just increased to 6. Buy more if you want 'em!
@troy
Only 6 ? Got three more, Wanted 3 of each… My kids love em. Was going to start them with the cheapest ones. Oh well two each child.
I sharpen the props, they make excellent electric Taint shavers…
@Bumplepimp do you stream the video too?
Purchased the “Ultra” before. Never flew straight and the calibration to level it correct flight errors never worked.
Has anyone found the official app for the Ultra? Are there substitute apps that are preferable?
@ESQuireTech i have not been able to register this or get the app. Website does not work and I’ve been waiting 4 days for an answer via! Messenger. I haven’t had the time to learn to fly it yet.
