My wife has a similar clock radio with a charging pad. There have been several times when it wasn’t set on there just right and the phone didn’t charge.

I don’t know about why it needs to be linked to the phone, other than combining two things into one, but I still have a digital clock. Don’t want to have to look at my phone every time I just want to check the time. The thermometer is also a nice touch

On yet another note
I have had several woot accounts at various times - the original one I had for years before it was sold to amacrap, one i made to buy a t-shirt several years later, and the one i have now.
I was in a different browser than usual and hit the above link and logged into an account i haven’t been in in over 5 years. the one from the t shirt i think.
