@ItalianScallion@tweezak not always possible; I’ve been paying AT&T for years that they keep crediting me for (with credits I don’t use) and they haven’t cancelled my payment (I should just dispute this with my credit card and make them have a charge-back).
@ItalianScallion I can sympathize. I needed to call them once and couldn’t find a number anywhere. The other day I learned something though. I needed to call for a locate so I could dig. I think it was the website that arranges for all the utilities to come out that had customer service numbers for all of them. Maybe that could help. Alternatively, arrange on the website for someone to come out and check your modem or whatever. When they get there hand them the box and don’t let them leave until they’ve terminated your service.
@tweezak I don’t know how getting a technician could help. They presumably don’t have anything to do with accounts, so they wouldn’t be able to do anything about cancelling. And how would I possibly keep the tech from leaving? Physically block them? Lock them in?
BTW, my original comment was an open question. I did persevere on the phone for well over a half hour to cancel my service. Of course they tried to talk me out of it by saying they could reduce my bill then pushed back on hard on my “none of your business” answer to why I wanted to cancel. (It was because I was moving and wanted to get the new customer deals at the new place, which I did.) I can remember if it’s a national or my state proposed law that would require cancelling a service to be as easy as signing up for one. Funny that the only thing Comcast won’t let you do online regarding your service is to cancel.

@ItalianScallion It’s a service. Just stop paying them.

@tweezak And then they report me to the credit bureaus for non-payment and my credit rating takes a big hit.
