Why do most of the Amazon questions ask if it will work with specific model phones? Is there any modern phone that it wouldn’t charge? Seems like people don’t realize a USB port is pretty standard.
@clutchdude Or like @tcooper185 found, you can get it for $30 with free shipping at TMobile. Even at the same price as a VMP member (if it was $30), you’d be better off buying it at TMobile just because it would be easier to fix a problem in the future if one occurs.
I can’t believe I bought this thing. I weighs about a pound so it’s the heaviest battery I’ve ever bought. Sadly, it also took about 2 days to charge up and I haven’t used it yet. But I will feel safer when the next hurricane comes through and leaves me without power for 2 or 3 days and I can use this to charge my phone up so Words With Friends never goes lonely.
@lljk here is some stuff I found on amazon reviews
"Really Mophie are you kidding me this is not a fast charger fast for what phone? 2.4 milliamps doesn’t mean anything if the phone does not accept it phones like the Galaxy S7 Edge and other fast charging phones (htc 10, lg, motor, gs6, note (4,5,7)
Do not fast charge with this as a matter of fact if you have an original Samsung charger that’s not adaptive fast charging for Qualcomm 2.0 charges faster than this!!"
and
"but because of your misdirection telling people it’s going to charge their phones faster because of 2.4 amps is just an outright lie… it will not charge any Qualcomm 2.0 or 3.0 or any fast charging phones any faster than standard charging at 2.1 amps!!!"
@cinoclav snagged the same one for $12 earlier this year. Didn’t need it because my 13000mah anker powerbank that I spent $25 on 3 years ago is still going strong, but I couldn’t pass up the deal.
@Oneroundrobb Just analyzed the one you linked. I’m going to pass. Says, “With up to 2.4A of dedicated output, your devices will each receive the safest maximum recharge rate possible.” That means it’s a regular charge and not a quick charge.
The 3.4A maximum it mentions is the combination of a 2.4A output and a 1A output used at the same time maximum.
@cengland0 right, I can’t read. At 2.4 it’s pretty quick, but not “quick”. Like I said I snagged it for $12… Amazon puts both aukey and anker brands on sale pretty often.
Unfortunately, it’s $82.99 right now. I’ll keep it in my wish list and maybe get it one day if I win the lottery.
I like this one because it does support quick charge 3.0 and does supply 3A per port for non quick charge devices using some proprietary “PowerIQ” system.
@cengland0 I just charged it yesterday. I also picked up a RAVPower 6 port quick charger so I was waiting for that to see if it would really charge the power bank that quickly. Yup, a little less than 5 hours. It had arrived about 25% charged. Two really good purchases.
Or spend $30+free shipping over at TMobile today: https://www.t-mobile.com/accessory/mophie-powerstation-8x-rose-gold
@tcooper185 Good find.
Are they crazy with this price? Maybe for $10-$15.
@datruandi It’s 15,000 mAh, not 1,500.
@cengland0 maybe you did not follow recent price developments. Saw even 32000mAh for less recently (granted, from a vendor in Asia, but reputable).

Meh missed the boat on this one. A bit overpriced
@bruinscbr agreed. $30 would be a buy.

@cengland0 You beat me to it! I just got an email about this T-mobile
After buying a couple of 10,000 power banks for $10 each, I can’t imagine paying $40 for one 50% bigger. I’d rather have the two smaller ones for $20.

Okay, but what’s the amperage of its output?
Looks like 2.4 but charges at 2.1

$70 at Amazon. Yowza.
Um, no. Just bought a 20,000 mAh Anker with 3A/2.4A output for $30.
@cinoclav I’m interested. Can you provide a link?

This, however is a hard pass at $40…

@Oneroundrobb Thanks. Going to check that out now. I did notice it’s an AUKEY brand and not Anker as @cinoclav said.

@cengland0 It was this one, but it’s back up to $50 now. I caught it on Black Friday. Sorry, I guess ‘just bought’ wasn’t exactly spot on.

The Qualcomm quick charge version is $4 more

@cinoclav Thanks. Using your description, I found one that meets my needs (after clicking through to other items people bought):
