Pure rubbing alcohol, I’ve found, leaves streaks. I’ve found that lens cleaners for glasses work well on phones and vice-versa. Can anyone attest to the glasses cleaning quality of these?
@shiranissosexy The trick is dilution. I’ve used roughly a 4:1 ratio of water to isopropyl (usually a 90% solution) with great results on laptops, tablets, etc… That’s how I dealt with equipment that came back to us in IT, either for cleaning before reassignment, equipment upgrades, or even just for routine maintenance before giving the devices back. Worked like a charm, and seemed to avoid the streaking of using higher concentrations of alcohol. Give it a shot
The ultimate no-no, which many have learned, but bears repeating, is using windex; DON’T DO THAT.
@2many2no@jayman007
The aegis is a shield carried primarily by Zeus in Greek mythology, which he sometimes lent to Athena. According to other sources, it was not a shield but rather an animal skin worn over the garments of the gods as extra protection. It bore the head of a Gorgon and made a terrible roaring sound during the battle. The aegis was forged by the Cyclopes in Hephaestus’ forge, and had golden serpent-like scales and a Gorgon’s head rolling its eyes. In some texts, it was mentioned that when Zeus would shake the aegis, clouds would cover Mount Ida and men would hide in fear.
In Greek, the word aegis has various meanings, including a violent windstorm, a divine shield, and a goatskin garment.
@2many2no@jayman007@phendrick@tomdina According to the latest Meh Style Manual (dated October of 1986), the preferred usage is: “Let me Wiki that for you”, with “Let me Wikipedia that for you” being reserved only for more formal occasions.
@2many2no@jayman007@tomdina I thought maybe it didn’t come from Wikipedia (it seemed a little less clipped than their usual phrasing) but was actually too lazy to verify that. In other words, I was just trolling. And you were trying to be helpful. I took the lower road; don’t let me slow you down.
There is no alcohol or ammonia. Its safe and works well. I have used the 6.76 oz model, and also a different smaller iClean (a black rather than blue sprayer) for several years. They work great. I use it on screens of course, tablets, phones, and monitors. But, also on eyeglasses and as a very safe dust/fingerprint remover on plastics/metal/vinyl electronic stuff like headphones, mp3 players, etc. I sell a lot of used stuff on ebay so go through a lot. I am mostly using Screen Mom now because it seems similar and comes in a larger 16 oz bottle. No alcohol, No ammonia. Safe. I just ordered the 6.76 ounce from morning save for a couple of bucks more. Bad timing. The cloths are very good quality…but not big enough to finish a whole bottle of spray…so Costco or Amazon Basic cloths for that.
@olsmeister clever but not true. I’m a cheapskate and would use H2o if it removed fingerprints as well. This stuff works great on my glasses. Water just smears the oil around.
@ggrochr@olsmeister According to their Safety Data Sheet, it contains between 25% and 50% (by weight) of citric acid and also between 25% and 50% of sulphonic acids and sodium salts.
@ggrochr It seems like it’s not safe to clean apple products with which is fine by me.
I ended up buying the 2 pack from meh, you basically getting 13 fl oz in two bottles with 5 good quality micro fiber clothes from a reputable brand for $15.
Also, my first meh order after more than a few “meh” votes in the last couple of years. I always enjoy reading the “description” though.
@olsmeister@rpstrong It is designed to remove oils, dust, from very delicate items like LCD screens, eyeglasses or plastic without damaging them. It does not dissolve stains, paint, etc.
I thought I was going to get all the stuff in the picture (except maybe the scary image on the last one). So I have to pick one or the other (or pay 2x)? Bummer.
Also are ScreenClean and IClean the same thing even though they have different names. I don’t like the name “IClean” because it means work for me. ScreenClean implies it cleans itself … much better… more time for online shopping.
What’s with the referral stats?
Are people really coming here from what looks like a sketchy Internet pharmacy?
Or are they spoofing clicks in order to get free advertising, knowing that idiots, such as myself, will click the link to try to figure out what the unknown site is?
I can’t decide on the two or five pack! My screen that I am using right now is so dang smudged I can barely see to type this. I really need one of these two. Screwit, the 2 pack, I might not actually lose the second one.
@rob55431 Funny story, my phone was pretty dirty last night, so I decided to pull one of these out. I was able to get one spray off, and then it wouldn’t spray anymore. I unscrewed the cap and realized the container was completely empty. Now I am going to check the other 4 and see if I am in the same boat as you.
@rob55431 So I just opened all 5 and 3 of them were completely empty. 2 of them had liquid, but they were no where near full. I am sure others have to have some empty ones as well.
@rob55431 I figured it out. It appears that the actual plastic bottles are starting to come apart at the seams. With one bottle if I turn it upside down it starts leaking like crazy from the corners from the plastic.

@arosiriak @shiranissosexy an IT guy that cleans/cares? You’re a rare breed my friend.
I can see clearly now the grime is gone.
I can see all mediocritees in my way
@hchavers
Gone are the smudges before my eyes
It’s gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright), shiny clean display
@schmani nicely done!
@hchavers Thank you! curtsies
I just use a little saliva and my t-shirt.
@Zeusandhera How do you get the Cheeto stains out?
@mike808 Lick harder.
@Zeusandhera I just said the same thing - you beat me to it!
WTF is Aegis?
@jayman007

It will clean your screen! And more!

It was actually www.greekmythology.com, but i understand the confusion since i didn’t include a citation. My bad…

@notrobocop Such a great show!
@chienfou @notrobocop Still miss it. Lost potential.
@chienfou @notrobocop You can’t take the Meh from me.
I don’t understand – shouldn’t these have been bundled with the poo-pourri?

@ggrochr It’s probably 100% dihydrogen monoxide.

@ggrochr @olsmeister Will it remove fingerprints from, say, a windowsill? (Asking for a friend.)

I think I had a bottle of this stuff that I got from Woot like 12 years ago. Does anyone else remember getting some from there?
@OGBYN I still have a bunch of the mini sprayers. Can not remember if I got them here or at Woot. The mini lasts about a year for my Ipad mini.
@OGBYN Yes, I think that is where I first tried them.
5-pack of 45ml bottles or 2-pack of 200ml bottles. That’s all.
Ahh, A CLASSIC!
Would this work well on eye glasses? I recently got them for the first time and hate them. So hard to clean!
@TBoneZeOriginal Works great on my glasses
@TBoneZeOriginal many eyeglass fabricators recommend you not use solvent-based cleaners (other than water).
@monkfish
Somebody needs to tell my eyeglasses place. They give you little bottles of spritzit and a cleaning cloth with your eyeglasses.
These screen cleaners offered today are perfect for your glasses @TBoneZeOriginal
@monkfish @TBoneZeOriginal @therealjrn Aren’t they the guys who sell you replacement lenses?

I suppose that if I pay $10 for it, I might actually use it.

Finally, something to spray directly in my open eyes to clean my contact lenses on the go.
/giphy vexing-teal-mouth

@Kenbo I can('t) see how that would work
@hchavers You’re probably right. It will likely (not) work as well as those air horns I used to clean out my ears.

@docgood Not a fan of anime but this show is pretty funny: It’s “One Punch Man” if anyone cares.
Meh. How about spit and a meh t-shirt?
Lol. Just use a microfiber and water
Sales been exactly half big ones and half little ones. Explain yourself and why you chose either size.
I have a smudge on my TV. I’ll wait till these get here to wipe it off.
I can’t decide on the two or five pack! My screen that I am using right now is so dang smudged I can barely see to type this. I really need one of these two. Screwit, the 2 pack, I might not actually lose the second one.
