@haydesigner@ircon96@pyroguy7 I agree – I hate the over-soft towels, and that’s the way most new towels come (especially the ones for retail sale where you can “feel” them in a store before buying).
You can find “industrial grade” towels that don’t have this sort of treatment first.
I remember finding some websites with tips on how to de-softify new towels to get them back to proper absorbency. Or, just keep using your old towels you’ve had for 20 years, and save $30.
@haydesigner@pyroguy7 I’ve heard some companies pre-treat their towels to make them feel softer in the store, but I’ve had towels that were washed several times without fabric softener but never got any more absorbent. It seems like the plush, velour-type ones are the worst.
@haydesigner@ircon96@pyroguy7
I agree about those velour-ish towels.
Here’s a method I read about the other day that’s supposed to strip out fabric softeners from towels: they said run a load with no soap, but hot water and a cup of vinegar. Then run that same load with hot water and a cup of baking soda. Dry with no dryer sheets.
I loathe fabric softener and dryer sheets anyway so I never use them.
@haydesigner@Kyeh@pyroguy7 Wow, with the seemingly endless number of hacks using vinegar &/or baking soda, I’m starting to think that the manufacturers themselves are flooding the interwebs with those articles!
As a yarn addict with some decent knowledge of weaving, this is actually a really good deal!
The “yarn-dyed jacquard” they refer to means that the yarn is space-dyed and then woven so precisely that it maintains the pattern to make it look like multiple colors of yarn are woven together worthy of applause, especially at that price. This is probably the most amazing deal I’ve ever seen on Meh!
@bass1193 never knew about that. must cost a lot to launch them into space first to get the best effect.
but seriously this technique sounds pretty cool (even without the space part). I bought the recent set that was 600GSM cotton. These are 500 which sounds like almost as “good” but “100 less.” How would these rate in the spectrum of quality towelness?
@pmarin gsm is a measure of the weight of the fabric. So these towels will be about 15% lighter than your 600 gsm towels. You may notice that they are lighter but there shouldn’t be a huge difference.
@bass1193 I’m ignoring that you joined in 2020 and only have two orders and letting this somehow sway me into a purchase. Got shipping for the month; might as well use it. Right?
@stinks I wish I’d had the money to get these! And i hope you don’t regret them lol! If I was to make them fot you by hand I would probably ask at least $500, and the pattern would be probably be nowhere near as crisp lol i hope they’re as cush as Meh makes them out to be! Only regretted the orders I got from morningsave
No Jacquard Print washcloths (substituted with plain gray in the cloth pattern of the other), hence the cheap price. Still a decent deal if you’re not a nitpicker.
These look like they’re that velour-feeling kind of towel, which in my experience don’t dry well. Still, I’d buy a set to get the rock climber and give the towels to someone.
IT SEEMS NO MATTER THE PRICE ;
The hanging loop Is probably hidden until washed, DON’T PULL IT!! It’ll morph into one of those loops that ends up multiplying into long strings & needs a frequent “haircut”. Classic corporate greed

What gets wetter the more it dries?
@yakkoTDI A blow dryer that really loves its job?
@awk @yakkoTDI slow clap
@awk @yakkoTDI A fluff nut?
Okay, it’s really soft, apparently.
But do they stay soft after a few dozen washes? That’s the important info…
@haydesigner IMO, super soft towels are overrated, since i find the softer they are, the less absorbent they tend to be.
@haydesigner @ircon96 that might be due to fabric softener in those cases, as it’s a bit water repellent.

@haydesigner @ircon96 @pyroguy7
True … at least they’re both cheap!
@haydesigner @Kyeh @pyroguy7 Yep, i think that might be why the hacks are so popular!
Are there bath sheets in this set? Nope. Move along. Nothing to see here. . . .
@Odysseus1001 Precisely my reaction.
@Odysseus1001 Was looking for queen bed size towels.
I am no longer a bachelor in need of towels. My wife has brought color to my life (and bathroom).
FULL COTTON!! This must be the Rapture!
@gertiestn Or is it the Mehpocalypse?
Is there a hanging loop? If so, where is it?
@sylvandoc Towels have hanging loops? I must shop at the wrong stores.
@lisagd IKEA has them. Standard equipment in Europe. Once you start using them, you never go back.
Ushaaaw! As, if!

Other colors are now 25-30 on Amazon…guess y’all scared ol’ Jeffy boy with this one

@blaineg So says the creator, thus any other opinion is invalid.
Does the mini, ripped hot guy come with the towels? If so, then that’s definitely a good deal!
@Trenn Yeah but then you’ll have to feed him and make a little-man-house and make sure the cat or dog doesn’t eat him.
@pmarin @Trenn Not a problem.
I was about to buy these but an extra $10 on tax and shipping is a deal breaker.
@Larry1977 Do you usually not pay tax?
@ParadisePete yes but that combined with the cost of shipping I don’t.
@Larry1977 @ParadisePete You pay for shipping?
@yakkoTDI yeah $6 per order. Not everyday do I find the daily item something I need to buy.

These might not feel quite as plush but I suspect that they still feel like what you’d get at a pretty nice hotel

At the price, it is a legitimate impulse buy.

If you are not sure where your towel is, best grab these before the planet gets destroyed.
