So I guess THAT means i’m more older than I am younger…???
In 1980 I was a sophomore in high school, I was in the middle of my braces journey, (on my way to a pretty smile ) I just started getting rid of my “baby fat”, (I did the pink heart & black beauty diet) I got my driver’s license, (totaling my 1st car on Xmas day. whoops) met my first official boyfriend, (waiting until I was 16 was mandatory) and I could still walk without a crutch! What a WHOLE LOT of life & living between THEN and NOW!! What a exciting year!! Who knows what 2060 will bring? Let’s just hope we’re ALL still around to find out!!
BTW @mlbrink, what ever made you pick THOSE 2 years?
@Lynnerizer – we must be the same age. (I also couldn’t date until I was 16.) 1980 seems to be a theme around here and the thought that it was farther away than 2060 made me feel old last night. . .(sigh)
@mlbrink
I believe 55 is on the younger side of old! Don’t start sweatin the small stuff now, wait till you’re closer to 70 and covered with age spots, moles and wrinkles! 60 IS the new 40 from what I’ve been told! Lol…
I don’t know why, but reading that here made me realize (I was born at the tail end of '79) that I have just crested the hill and am now looking down. Man. Here I was enjoying a nice mehrathon.
Or maybe, (glass half full) it’s like that moment on the roller coaster where you get to the top of that first big climb and your eyeline goes from horizon to the big drop in front of you, and you simultaneously regret the choices that brought you here and are excitedly anticipating the twists and turns ahead.
I remember as a kid looking at 2020, the mid-point of my life expectancy, as an expiration date. Thinking that I better get all the things I want to do in before then. Because after that, like cereal, you can still eat it, but it gets a little less crunchy, and it still tastes okay, but it’s not the same, and you remember when it was fresh and crunchy and it’s just not as good as it was.
I was a weird kid. But I’m not sure I was wrong
@mlbrink@themutilator
Too true!
I was just about to use my favorite saying, because you’re not old, you’re not really even middle-aged, because I was a sophomore in college when you were born, and while there are more than a few days that I feel old, I am not old, and in fact, I may just be middle-aged, especially if we see some of the more promising studies on life-extension and health maintenance come to fruition.
You know, I was having a good time. We were all having a good time.
@rogerbacon yeah, but were you really?
Huh…I guess we are…your right…hmmmm
@sunnysideup22 Just sayin’. The 80s were a long time ago. . .
Not for all of us.
@ThunderChicken Kids today wouldn’t have appreciated the 80s anyway.

@Lynnerizer
Well, getting old does beat the alternative. . .
@Lynnerizer @mlbrink Old is 20 years older than you are today.
@Lynnerizer @mlbrink
I said that to an elderly friend, and he paused for a minute, and then said with great feeling: “Some mornings I’m just not so sure.”

@themutilator Just remember, “old” is anyone who is 20 years older than you and “young” is anyone 20 years younger than you. . . it’s all relative.

Oh, I almost forgot my age-dismissive saying, which is: I’ve got shoes older than you…
Hi y’all ! For me ( just passed 60 on the interstate of life ). I do crossword puzzles & Dad does Sudocu !
Cleopatra lived closer (time-wise) to the moon launch than to the erection of the Great Pyramids at Giza.
@PocketBrain Now that’s intriguing.
