I wasn't getting too specific cause I often cause others to fall into a comatose state when I explain the differences between the three and then how translation makes non-native English speakers seem unaware of the differences when actually it's a different word structure. Got a few the last time following the Meh marketing strategy. They are so cheap, they said. You can throw them off the cliff with you while you jump, they said. I am yet to jump off a cliff but I tested this in slightly more safe environment of my living room and it seemed to worked great. Oh, and I used these while snorkeling and it survived, as did some great underwater footage. So, I found that the waterproof case works!

I bought a Nabi Square HD really cheap at their site and bought a second one. Made for kids but better build quality and removable screen. Haven't tried the housing. Very sharp lens.
@radi0j0hn funny I just received another nabi camera I bought on Amazon last week. This is my fourth one,two I gave as gifts and two are mine. Used the nabi as a dashcam and have used under water great little camera for the $$. I ordered the Midland 1080 today and if it's 80% as good as the nabi I'll be very happy.
Of all the things, Meh. You go and do something like this........AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!!!!! Finally I remember why I check the app every night.
Midland gave me one of these a couple years ago and it worked really well until the waterproof case was not so waterproof. The frustrating part for me was not knowing if the battery was charged or not. Here is some video I shot with it using a mag mount on the roof of the car.

Anyone else with valid credit cards and an unusually high credit score have any experience with "oops, let's try that again because that card was declined" errors when attempting to order?
More importantly, does anyone else know the hangup and potential fix?
I've tried three cards, a non-VPN computer, and still none of my orders go through. I contacted customer service but they're not around until the morning and I'd really like to get one of these for my little one to use on his bike.
@dwallace123 Just a guess - could it be that your meh address on file is not the same as your billing address so it is getting declined? Perhaps something like that?

They had issues with their matching algorithms or software, and customer service had to manually approve my Billing Address.
By refurbished.... Does that mean they just wiped the blood off from the last "action" hero who used this to tape their attempt at bad-assery? Is there a bio-hazard sticker on some of these?

1080p out, guess I'll give the cheaper one a shot. Was looking to add a camera to my bicycle yesterday actually to help out with some of the BS I run into on my commute.
Just a quick update for everyone that purchased. We've run in to a bit of delay in getting these shipped out so you won't see any movement until next week. We'll be back with more details as soon as we can.
@indigo Make sure it's a fast one. When I got mine originally, I tried one just laying around and the video was very jerky. It was losing frames. I thought the camera sucked or was defective or something.
I then tried a faster card, class 10, and it worked fine. Not all class 10 cards are the same but all of mine did seem to work.
Note: I bought the 1080p version. If you have the 720 model, a slower chip might still work but I don't know.
@klev The biggest size you can get- 64 GB microSD (that's what the specs say is the largest card you can use). It should cover you until the battery dies.
@cengland0 Question, was that a regular microSD, a microSDHC, or a microSDXC? I am looking at a SDXC class 10 card, but I'm having trouble determining for sure if it will work, the product specs are a wee bit vague on it, and make it appear as though only a standard microSD card will work. @sixsmith I just tested it for you. Used an SDXC 64 GB PNY "Hyper Performance" U3 card and it worked perfectly on the 1080p Midland. No skipping or jerky video.
@indigo I just had a Samsung EVO 64 microSDXC class 10 delivered from PrimeNow and it doesn't work in my 720p model. Just flashes red meaning the card can't be read. Bummer. Even thought the user manual only shows up to 32gb, I read other comments that it would work so I took a chance and lost. No worries though as I also ordered one of those ION cameras from Woot the other day so hopefully this card will work in it.
That stinks,Tom Hanks and me are working on a flick that's due to hit the theaters in July,we needed this camera asap. Looks like I'll have to let Tom out of his contract. Film making is a very difficult business.

I bought this as a gift for one of my rugrats and gave it to him on Saturday - and today I realized it should have come with the waterproof case - alas his didn't - just the mount kit (which I thought included a case). Any belated help? Worst 'case' I guess I can find one online (I also know mailing support might be a better option but saw this thread ;) )

I just bummed myself out even more. Being in New York (which sucks in general) I have a 50/50 chance of receiving things before the weekend if they send them out on a Monday. I just realized with Good Friday, there is pretty much zero chance I'll have this for my Easter weekend trip. I do understand and am not upset, but a bit saddened.

@newcreature My most recent two meh orders arrived 1) two days before & 2) one day prior to the delivery dates noted on tracking. Neither tracking update ever reflected the change--only that it had been delivered. Then the camera arrives, but expected extras as an apology for late shippung and all. I see a lot of meh-ers were wanting swag. I'm much more reasonable. All i expected as a freebie was an actual employee in the box. Now i know damn well an employee is worth less than a few cheapo stickers. But you couldn't even do that. You didn't even send me a freebie intern.
Hell, i wouldn't have complained if you had shipped me a corporate officer. My expectations are that low. But i expect something. Now i know a CEO, or tech chief, or CFO is worth less than a damn sticker. Worth less even than an intern! Less than a department head!
I got mine today, with the case. but there were no stickers. what happened to the swag? i hate to sound ungrateful (actually i dont care what i sound like, you cant hear me anyway) but you said there would be swag and someone else said stickers. c'mon.
Anyone having trouble with drivers on this? Windows 7 and the 720p camera. Two PCs failed to find drivers for it, and the website doesn't seem to mention any, unless they're hidden or I'm blind, both of which are likely.
edit: nope, even weirder. The record switch needs to be engaged for it to be seen by the PC. OK then.
@cryomancer199X I also can't seem to find drivers after a quick search, but it does use SD cards, and standard video formats- so what would a driver get you over popping in an SD card?
Mine arrived. I complained to meh immediately after opening the package because I ordered 1080p, and camera said 720p. After dinner I realized it was the correct camera, just an incorrect battery door. Refurb joy. ;)
@klev Inside the battery compartment there is a small label with the correct model number, and plugging it into the computer via USB also identifies the correct model number.
Ordered 2 1080p cameras. Got them and saw one said 720p. I said to my friend wtf, thought meh was chill. Friend said go straight to the discuss my purchase section and harass meh employees immediately until this travesty is corrected. Saw comment from other buyer about incorrect battery door, found out the staff at meh cannot read. 720/1080p would sleeper camera again.
@username I have 2 of the 1080 ones, the batteries last around 1 hour 50 minutes on 1080 mode usually, the 720 I just received lasted around 1 hour 15 minutes in 720mode.
I ordered 2 of the 720p cameras. One works mostly ok (sound a bit out of sync, needs good lighting, but expected quality for the price) The other shows me 3 orange lights and does nothing. Using battery and SD card from the working camera didn't change anything. Leaving it plugged in overnight didn't help. Ideas?
@chienfou Midland is going to honor the warranty, I've just got to pay shipping, on an $18 camera... I'll do it though. It's lightweight, shouldn't cost much to ship.
@elparx no they charge with no card (I am up to 2 1080s and one 720)... if it helps I did warranty with midland on a 1080 last time and it was pretty hassle free... and the postage is pretty cheap as they usually only want the body (without the battery, cases, cables etc).
Have you tried flipping the switch back and forth while its connected to the cable just to see if you get any flicker?
@elparx another test for you... if I remove the battery, plug it into the charger, and flip the switch to the back (off) I get a single green light... do you? If so it might just be a bunk battery.
Ok, so how do you turn it off and on when in the waterproof case? The big button on top of the case doesn't connect to or move anything. It just slides back and forth.
@puttysan Off... (the case actually has some plastic thingers that shove it to the off position).
I take it it is not turning on for you when you have it in the case and slide the button forward but it does work when it's outside of the case?
If that is what is happening check the case (take camera out and see if the magnet is present, it should be at the back on the underside of the button on the case, a little metal rectangle).
If the case is missing the magnet let midland know... if the magnet is there then the camera might have lost its' sensor... contact midland and let them know it wont turn on when in the case.
I had this happen to me... my original (last time they sold it) 1080 one wouldn't work in the case either... midland had me mail the camera body only to them and they sent me back a nice working one.

However the battery life for me is TERRIBLE and getting worse. It last like an half our, I've even switched it to the lower quality with the same results.

I've gotten a few asian cheapies for review, and the Nabi was better at stills and videos.
However, I don't use it as an "action" cam. I use it for the near 180 degree view.
It's funny, as my experience with any camera made for "kids" is usually very old technology inside a cute case.

does anyone know if this can do loop recording? (ie automatically delete/overwrite oldest recordings with newest recordings)
@tjamesturner it does not... but it does record while you have the usb cable connected to a power source, which helps with the dashcam concept.

Mine can't read a 64 MB SD card, does fine with 32 MB. (Well, one of the two cameras, the other has issues.)
@indigo I just had a Samsung EVO 64 microSDXC class 10 delivered from PrimeNow and it doesn't work in my 720p model. Just flashes red meaning the card can't be read. Bummer. Even thought the user manual only shows up to 32gb, I read other comments that it would work so I took a chance and lost. No worries though as I also ordered one of those ION cameras from Woot the other day so hopefully this card will work in it.
That stinks,Tom Hanks and me are working on a flick that's due to hit the theaters in July,we needed this camera asap. Looks like I'll have to let Tom out of his contract. Film making is a very difficult business.

Hey there, Meh team here with an update on that Midland Action Camera you purchased.
We messed up and mistakenly listed that these would be accompanied with a waterproof case when in reality we didn't have any. We've spent the past few days turning over every rock we could to find some cases for you. After all, what good is an "action" cam that's not waterproof?
Sorry about the delay here but we're happy to report that your order will be arriving as intended and we didn't have to send you a sad email filled with excuses instead. These cases are set to arrive on Monday and we'll do our best to have your order on its way home the same day.

I bought this as a gift for one of my rugrats and gave it to him on Saturday - and today I realized it should have come with the waterproof case - alas his didn't - just the mount kit (which I thought included a case). Any belated help? Worst 'case' I guess I can find one online (I also know mailing support might be a better option but saw this thread ;) )

I just bummed myself out even more. Being in New York (which sucks in general) I have a 50/50 chance of receiving things before the weekend if they send them out on a Monday. I just realized with Good Friday, there is pretty much zero chance I'll have this for my Easter weekend trip. I do understand and am not upset, but a bit saddened.
Why didn't you ask us if we even wanted the case? I would have opted for a discount and saved you some trouble. I already have one which never gets used in the case. Now I'll just have three cases sitting in a drawer:(

@newcreature My most recent two meh orders arrived 1) two days before & 2) one day prior to the delivery dates noted on tracking. Neither tracking update ever reflected the change--only that it had been delivered. If it doesn't arrive before your departure, I'll take one for the team & head to Hawaii with a GoPro & get you some great video while you wait at home for your cam to arrive. You're welcome.

Received my 720 camera, since you people couldn't hold out with stock till 4 am when i woke up after being asleep because i was sick, and you wouldn't do this one little thing for me.
Then there was the massive wait.
Then the camera arrives, but expected extras as an apology for late shippung and all. I see a lot of meh-ers were wanting swag. I'm much more reasonable. All i expected as a freebie was an actual employee in the box. Now i know damn well an employee is worth less than a few cheapo stickers. But you couldn't even do that. You didn't even send me a freebie intern.
Hell, i wouldn't have complained if you had shipped me a corporate officer. My expectations are that low. But i expect something. Now i know a CEO, or tech chief, or CFO is worth less than a damn sticker. Worth less even than an intern! Less than a department head!

Anyone having trouble with drivers on this? Windows 7 and the 720p camera. Two PCs failed to find drivers for it, and the website doesn't seem to mention any, unless they're hidden or I'm blind, both of which are likely.
edit: nope, even weirder. The record switch needs to be engaged for it to be seen by the PC. OK then.
@cryomancer199X I also can't seem to find drivers after a quick search, but it does use SD cards, and standard video formats- so what would a driver get you over popping in an SD card?
@dashcloud well it would let you use the camera as your card reader, basically.
but yeah, try turning on the record while it's wired up, that found drivers no problem.
@cryomancer199X Yep.. the "record" button is also the "on" switch for when it is connected...today's mantra is "only $18"
Mine arrived. I complained to meh immediately after opening the package because I ordered 1080p, and camera said 720p. After dinner I realized it was the correct camera, just an incorrect battery door. Refurb joy. ;)
@sdb how did you figure out its indeed 1080p
@klev Inside the battery compartment there is a small label with the correct model number, and plugging it into the computer via USB also identifies the correct model number.

Ordered 2 1080p cameras. Got them and saw one said 720p. I said to my friend wtf, thought meh was chill. Friend said go straight to the discuss my purchase section and harass meh employees immediately until this travesty is corrected. Saw comment from other buyer about incorrect battery door, found out the staff at meh cannot read. 720/1080p would sleeper camera again.
something tells me batteries will suck in these.
anyone did any testing yet? will it record for an hour at least?
@username i have managed 40mins at 1080p with half battery. Should last an hour
@username I only got a half hour of recording before battery died. Gonna try the "SD" setting next time and see if that improves.
@username I have 2 of the 1080 ones, the batteries last around 1 hour 50 minutes on 1080 mode usually, the 720 I just received lasted around 1 hour 15 minutes in 720mode.

Recording dates on the cam all are Dec 31, 2012. Is the same for anyone else? Any idea on how to correct that?
@klev Mine are a different incorrect date. I think 2009.
@klev might need to google, these cheap cams have a config text file that can be put on SD card to reset the date (usually)
I ordered 2 of the 720p cameras. One works mostly ok (sound a bit out of sync, needs good lighting, but expected quality for the price) The other shows me 3 orange lights and does nothing. Using battery and SD card from the working camera didn't change anything. Leaving it plugged in overnight didn't help. Ideas?

@elparx if you have another mini-b usb cable try that to eliminate a bunk cable.
Is the battery flat or puffy?
@thismyusername Tried another cable, battery is flat, not distended. Is it possible that it only charges with a card in it?
@elparx no they charge with no card (I am up to 2 1080s and one 720)... if it helps I did warranty with midland on a 1080 last time and it was pretty hassle free... and the postage is pretty cheap as they usually only want the body (without the battery, cases, cables etc).
Have you tried flipping the switch back and forth while its connected to the cable just to see if you get any flicker?

@elparx another test for you... if I remove the battery, plug it into the charger, and flip the switch to the back (off) I get a single green light... do you? If so it might just be a bunk battery.

Ok, so how do you turn it off and on when in the waterproof case? The big button on top of the case doesn't connect to or move anything. It just slides back and forth.

@thismyusername Does the camera need to be in the On or Off position to start?
@puttysan Off... (the case actually has some plastic thingers that shove it to the off position).
I take it it is not turning on for you when you have it in the case and slide the button forward but it does work when it's outside of the case?
If that is what is happening check the case (take camera out and see if the magnet is present, it should be at the back on the underside of the button on the case, a little metal rectangle).
If the case is missing the magnet let midland know... if the magnet is there then the camera might have lost its' sensor... contact midland and let them know it wont turn on when in the case.
I had this happen to me... my original (last time they sold it) 1080 one wouldn't work in the case either... midland had me mail the camera body only to them and they sent me back a nice working one.
I'm surprised that the video is as good as it is! So far everything is working fine.
Got mine and have been using it as a helmet cam for my motorcycle:
However the battery life for me is TERRIBLE and getting worse. It last like an half our, I've even switched it to the lower quality with the same results.
