Poor build quality... buttons stick, not compatible with my HTC Android phone (Android 4.0.3) and tech support that, although friendly, was not at all helpful.
@medz From reading the comments from that sale it seems I wasn't the only one. There were a handful of others who had sticky buttons. I was most surprised by the lack of compatibility with Android 4.0.3 considering it was said to be "Android compatible". Only after talking to Meta support did I discover that means the app will run, and you can set the frames, but most notifications won't work. So basically that takes the "smart" part out of Smart Watch.
@communist Good suggestions. I have a very strong eBay rep with 100% seller feedback. I don't want to risk that rep on a sketch watch for a measly sawbuck. I'll eventually have a yard sale and hopefully dupe some sucker there. :-)
@somf69 true story - earlier this year I was waiting to eat at a breakfast place with my SO and family and there was a crane game that a few people had tried without any luck. I step up, toss in my quarters and…BAM teddy bear on the first try. I hand it over to my niece, but hey...I still have one play left. BOOM 2 for 2 back to back teddy bears. Legitimately one of the proudest moments of my life, felt like a big damn hero.
@Ryaneil I remember back in the mid 80's having about 40 of them in Diners and Bars. Till ths day I still remember that 5 pounds of quarters equals $100
@versabox I got the Strata and use it everyday now for work. Only minor complaints from me, mainly on the app cutting in and out occasionally. Old Galaxy Nexus phone running Android 4.4.2
@versabox same tho. Notifications came in with a significant delay sometimes, pulsing and vibration after I have already answered a call sometimes. It was super inconsistent and not stable.
The thing had way too many bad quirks. I really like the way the display works, buts that pretty much it. It did teach me that I want a good smart watch at least...
@midcontrast I don't think PMs are available on meh forums (or at least I haven't figured out how to send one.) Could you email me at jonathan@heartslunchleague.com to set up details?
Nice, but I already have my MetaWatch from the last deal, so meh. I'll tell my friends that this is available tomorrow, assuming these don't sell out instantly.
Picked one of these up from Staples back in April for $80, just for the heck of it. Screen is much better than the Meta Frame and it definitely has a unique appearance. The band is proprietary since it's integrated into the watch design and is rubber/silicon. That's about all there is to say about it. Pass unless you just want something unique looking.
@Froggy I bought it on a whim hoping that the OS level "accessory apps" feature will connect and at least push notifications to my One M8 WP. If it doesn't work, it's off to eBay.
@Froggy Got mine today and no dice. While it does comnect, it turns out, you can't even get past the set-up without the companion app, which we already knew wasn't available for WP. Ahh well, I knew the chance was high it wouldn't work. To be fair, the watch seems really nice.
@fyreblazer Well that sucks, thank you for reporting back. I have a Microsoft Band, it works great with Winpho but I figured for $50 this might make a great gift for my girlfriend who also has a Winpho. Oh well, I'll keep saivng my pennies for another Band.
Phew! the Stainless strap model sold out before i could buy one.... I can't wear non-metallic watch bands. my skin ruins rubbery bands within a year, and leather(or cloth straps) is(are) too sweaty...(my body puts out way more moisture/humidity than most (apparently). in the winter/autumn, i can fog up the car windows by myself, just sitting there listening to the radio, and eating some variety of sandwich.)
I ordered the stainless steel. I know the description says watch bands can be changed, but one Amazon review said not so. Anyone have this watch in stainless. Can it be changed to a leather band?
Still waiting for over a month for them to fix the stock quote applet. All it says now is "loading". It worked fine when I first got the Frame here at the last sale with the exception of not being able to display the DOW though the S&P 500, etc. had tickers you could enter to display their quote.
Hardware build quality of the frame is nice but the proprietary strap on these make this a step down so "no go" (especially because of the poor applet fix turnaround time if EVER and notifications are nowhere near the speed or consistency of the Pebble which are instantaneous to when my phone gets them which is the whole purpose of a smartwatch). In fact, the notifications don't even seem to work at all since my last recharge. Hmmm. Will have to see what's up with that when I get a chance to tinker. The Meta line are definitely NOT "set it and forget it" smartwatches like the Pebble.
Was lucky to have gotten a Cowboom deal on the black Pebble for $39 a month ago and a black Pebble Steel for $59 which should be arriving in the next couple of days. Ironically, the Pebble Steel also has a proprietary strap though a steel upgrade is readily available for $20.
@iggy71 Stock app is working now, it came back on for me about a week ago. Maybe you need to update the app of reload/reset everything. I see the DOW average using ticker "DIA". it just shows the number with a decimal place, at the moment the 18,108 point Dow shows on the watch as 180.18, only a minor annoyance.
@ParadisePete For comparison, a can of tuna typically weighs 150 to 170g. So it might be a good idea to first strap a can of tuna to your wrist and see how you like it. Then add some weights to it.
Bought the other one for $15 then it got chewed up by my gf's dog. I actually felt relieved that I didn't have to wear it anymore. The facelift on this one doesn't justify buying it again. Meh...
Can anybody comment on the battery life of these things? And the battery life of the phone while connected? Does the Meta App need to be running the whole time?
@Willijs3 can't promise the same experience for today's version, but I've found the watch battery lasts about 5 days and it seems to suck down my phone battery about 10-20% per day more than without it.
@Willijs3 If it's similar to the frame model sold before, battery life on the watch is 5-10 days depending on how many notifications you get. The app has to stay running constantly and on my iPhone 6 Plus I'm losing an additional 5-10% battery per day.
@Willijs3 Like the others said, my Meta Strata usually lasts 5-7 days on one charge. It's really easy to keep it topped up forever too, since you can just plug it in when you go to bed each night or something. I'm going to guess that since these watches are brand new, their batteries will be at least a little better than the batteries on the (refurbished) watches in the last deal.
Also, the app does need to run in the background of your phone in order to keep the watch's widgets up to date. I haven't noticed a decrease in my iPhone 5S's battery life from having it running.
@Willijs3 Similar experience as the others. About 5 days of battery life. And yes the app tries to stay alive in the background and sucks up some phone battery. And if you use a widget that requires location services (weather, etc) then it will really eat into the phone battery.
After using the (Meh) $15 Frame for a couple months, I'd say it has been the first tech gadget I've bought in a while where if it broke, I'd say "meh".
The entire experience has been meh. Handy in concept, but that horrible screen requires too much wrist-twisting to read and many of the fonts are too small for the meh-solution. And the dearth of apps and development-support make for more meh.
It has been an interesting experiment and I suppose I'm now in meh-bonus turf with it until it dies or I forget it in the drawer.
I mostly like my Meta Strata. I am lousy at discriminating sounds, so I had to keep my phone in my shirt pocket. That made it loud enough that I was pretty quick at realizing it was my phone going off. With the Meta watch, I can tell because my wrist vibrates (most of the time, as @midcontrast noted above, it isn't reliable).
The Strata is the model rated for use in shallow swimming pools. I have a shallow back yard pool and I use it every day that the weather allows. I'm not interested in these models only rated at 3 atmospheres.
When my Strata dies, I will probably buy a Pebble Watch.
@communist There really are paint pens in any color you want, including silver. Go to Michael's Arts and Crafts. Wear a disguise if you're afraid of being recognized.
@OldCatLady All the Michael's I have ever been in are run by women with comfotable shoes. I've also found that the people that use paint pens generally steal them. :( Which is probably why they try to charge me $28 for a 14"x17" Strathmore sketch pad.
@RedOak there's not really very many people I want to talk to, at home or away. :-) what I don't understand with this device is: it requires that your cell phone is near by. is there anything that it does better than simply using an app on your phone?
@ekw For me, it's not so much that it does anything better than a phone app, so much as it provides a more convenient display for simple notifications than my phone. It's a lot simpler to glance at my watch if I'm getting a call or received a text message and see if it's actually important.
buttons are unresponsive 99.875% of the time, bluetooth connectivity is more moody than a teenage girl, and it wiped out its own set up after fighting with it for 4 hours today.... it would have been nice to get a mediocre watch at this point, this one doesnt even come close to being that good.
@ErikRL At least you got yours to do something. Mine just says "Welcome! Let's get started >" and pressing any button makes it reboot. I should have just bought one of the refurb Pebbles on Woot.
This watch is tricky to set up. It's not intuitive at all...and no quick start Guide is included. By trial and error I got it paired with my phone... The watch by itself won't do anything until it's paired.
I think that's right. What I would do is to work on the watch along with your phone. Turn on bluetooth on your phone and you should see the Meta as a pairing option. Then, once it pairs you can download the Meta app through Google Play. ...and THEN the watch will update. It took some tinkering, but I have it working now and I'm enjoying it.
@sourhead Hmmm... I never see the watch pop up in the device list on my phone. I've tried every combination I can think of. I'm pretty sure it's just DOA.
I'm too lazy to read through aaaaallllllll of the comments and am wondering if anyone bought this after having purchased the previous, $15 smart watch and how they compare in terms of functionality. Thank you.
@joelmw I have both. The M1 display is easier to read. It has nicer watch faces but you can only do 1 mode per screen. There is not as much customization. I have the stainless m1, and I was able to swap out the band with a stainless mesh one. I do get compliments on it. The biggest annoyance and I had this with my $15 one, is that it will lose bluetooth connection. I cannot seem to find an auto connect on the m1 like the old one, so after realizing that notifications are not displaying is when I see it lost connection. To re-connect I have to open the app which is annoying as sometimes it doesn't connect. I have even gone as far as re-installing the app to try and get it to re-connect. Since this happened on my $15 model, my guess is it is a design flaw. I am still wearing it, hopefully the issues work themselves out.
@derek17j Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm surprised both that there's less customization and only one mode per screen. The M1 does seem generally more attractive. How are the buttons? I get along fine with my Frame but the buttons are sometimes sticky and seem poorly designed. Again, thanks for the info. I'm still seriously considering checking out the M1 if it comes up again--especially if they drop the price. Although I was hoping for more and different types of functionality and customization.
So the M1 does not have the option to re-connect automatically if it loses connection. Or am I missing something?? It is getting annoying that it will lose connection and stay not connected until I manually try to get it back. (sometimes it takes a while) Usually when I realize it is not connected is when I see that I have multiple unread emails or missed calls because my phone is silent at work. Just today sitting in my office I have probably re-connected a few times. This is getting unreliable. I'll have to write to the Co.
Has anyone else with a DOA watch actually gotten into contact with Meta yet? I sent them an email a week ago and aside from an initial response asking me for the model number, they've been silent. I've sent two more emails to both their sales and support addresses since and haven't gotten a peep back.
To each their own, stylewise, but I thought I'd pass along that there's a reasonably compatible silicone band available in multiple colors. Has the "speed pins" just like the original band so that you can easily switch without using tools.
I contacted Meta about my connection problem. They emailed asking my software version, phone model, etc, so hopefully they are looking into the issue. Right now I have a digital watch that gives me the Weather and the Red Sox score. Those 2 things work great. But I havent gotten any notifications all day today even though it is linked by BT. Might just dump both my Meta watches and put the $$ towards a better product.
I need help on turning on my Mets m1 after sometimes ,it keeps writing Welcome! Let’s get started but whenever I press d navigation button it will just display Meta logo “D GIANT M” and loop back to d welcome! Show… I’ve gone through so many PDF and Google search ,no clue on what to do…I’m Thinking of to unscrewing it but I’m scared to destroy d smart watch… Pls help me,… Adesinaadewale28@yahoo.com

I got burned on the Meta Frame. Fool me once...
Poor build quality... buttons stick, not compatible with my HTC Android phone (Android 4.0.3) and tech support that, although friendly, was not at all helpful.
@ruouttaurmind You must've gotten a bad refurb. My frame is great! No sticky buttons and works wonders with my Nexus 5 Android 5.1.1.
@ruouttaurmind why not sell it on ebay or to a fellow meh-xican
@communist Good suggestions. I have a very strong eBay rep with 100% seller feedback. I don't want to risk that rep on a sketch watch for a measly sawbuck. I'll eventually have a yard sale and hopefully dupe some sucker there. :-)
@ruouttaurmind or you could sell it to me for $15 + shipping :P ... if you're interested, email me eminemjones@gmail.com
meh..ta
coming to a crane machine game near you.....
@somf69 You say that like its a bad thing... I've still got 5 of those old clean sweep cranes
@Ryaneil Except that somf69 was talking about the Meta being a booby prize IN the crane machine and NOT akin to a crane machine. RIF.
@Ryaneil I remember back in the mid 80's having about 40 of them in Diners and Bars. Till ths day I still remember that 5 pounds of quarters equals $100
I got the refurb Meta Frame when it was $15. It's almost completely useless.
@versabox That how I feel i used it for 2 days and gave up on it
@versabox I got the Strata and use it everyday now for work.
@midcontrast I got one then too, but I lost my charger. Any chance you're sick of yours and would send it to me your charger clip if I paid shipping?
@aleminopuy Yeah man, you can have the watch too if you want. Can you PM here? If so shoot me a message
@lljk they look terrible and have miserable reviews. I wouldnt give one of these things to a friend none the less tell them they can buy it for 50
I bought the Meta Frame just for the leather strap....
I love the metaframe i got last time, wear it every day. if this was like, 35 id bite. in fact id totally take a refurb at 35. I'm cheap.
Love my meta frame. I wear it everyday Can't seem to find a reason to upgrade though.
MetaFrame has been perfect for me so far. Endured much of my clumsiness and has been nifty. As such. I'm content with the $15 one. >.>
Noooooope.
No purple...
@Barney …for that alone
@JonT Meh...
Does this mean Meh will soon have a Segway? Nice. I've been waiting for my VMP thingy to pay off.
@gertiestn can you put a speaker dock on a segway??
@eeterrific Don't know. Hum a few bars & I'll fake it.
I wear my Frame everyday as well. Get a bunch of compliments too. I may see if my buddy wants this so I can get the stainless one...
I know it doesn't mention it in the specs, but is it compatible with Windows Phone 8.1?
Not taking the chance for 50 bucks... nope, not this time.
stainless is already sold out, meh
Boo. Stainless steel ran out mid-order for me. Meh.
Stainless steel may have a higher selling price, but it looks pretty yech.
Bought it. Watched Youtube review. Canceled order. Meh.
@TehChrisReed lulz
I'm a little weirded-out that it shows the time of day (i.e. "am" or "pm") next to the date and not the time. (As in, "06/05 pm").
Is that a European thing or something?
@pepsiwine I think its just a line below. The am / pm still correlates to the time
@pepsiwine Naw. There's no time in Europe.
@pepsiwine From the "here's four pieces of information just make sure they're on the screen somewhere" school of interface design
I need one with that feature that tracks how many deviants who prey on young children there are in the vicinity.
@thechinglish scope out the competition eh? Smart(watch) man
@phunkfan02 *pedometer
Phew! the Stainless strap model sold out before i could buy one....
@earlyre Thanks for the very informative one star review. Can you provide another detailed one for the watch now? lol
@iggy71 Looked like a metalic face and silicon strap
@iggy71 obviously i can't... it sold out brfore i could buy it!
Is this where I show off my kickstarter edition of my pebble watch?
@thismyusername Pictures, or it didn't happen. I missed the Kickstarter by a day, so way bitter.
@PocketBrain That sucks.. I was tempted by the color one, but this one still works great so I held off.
@thismyusername corrected image (cleaned it up ;) ):
@thismyusername ZOMG, it's gorgeous!
I ordered the stainless steel. I know the description says watch bands can be changed, but one Amazon review said not so. Anyone have this watch in stainless. Can it be changed to a leather band?
meta.watch website was down and stainless sold out so keeping my meta frame in service.
Want to buy but cannot for the life of me figure out how to change my payment method.
@benf_dc When you click "Buy It" click in the box under "How are you gonna pay for this stuff?" and enter your new card number.
@thismyusername I hope that's sample data. Also, you're card's expired :)
@ACraigL I don't believe any CCs are prefixed with 8, I'm also guessing that exclamatory red octagon means it failed a Luhn check.
@ACraigL Considering the card number is "Boobs Boobs Boobs" I'll assume it is indeed "Sample data" ;)
Still waiting for over a month for them to fix the stock quote applet. All it says now is "loading". It worked fine when I first got the Frame here at the last sale with the exception of not being able to display the DOW though the S&P 500, etc. had tickers you could enter to display their quote.

Caveat emptor on this deal.

@phonorad Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Even if they worked great, they're still fugly.
Please check the weight of the watch again.
•Weight: 303 grams (311 grams for MW4001, 411 grams for MW4002)
ipad mini 3 weight 331 grams, and ipad air 2 weight 437 grams.
who will want to carry ipad air on their wrist?
@kodiak97 I agree that would be a heavy watch but that is what the manufacturer's website says it is too. http://meta.watch/collections/smartwatch-all/products/mw4005
B&H Photo says 3.0 oz (85.0 g)
Too bad the steel is out...
1 pound is 454 grams. So if this thing weighs 311 (or 411!) grams, you ain't gonna like having it strapped to your wrist.
@ParadisePete For comparison, a can of tuna typically weighs 150 to 170g. So it might be a good idea to first strap a can of tuna to your wrist and see how you like it. Then add some weights to it.
So Mehta.
Seriously, nobody had thought to post that before me?
I absolutely have to get this... oh wait, sold out of black and silver. Meh.
@PocketBrain how about the 2nd post - the first post following the first post?
@RedOak I spelled it different! :-B
@PocketBrain Also, that was one of the first jokes made back during the first MetaWatch deal.
That may be the ugliest watch I've ever seen.
Any color you want! As long as it's white or red.
Bought the other one for $15 then it got chewed up by my gf's dog. I actually felt relieved that I didn't have to wear it anymore. The facelift on this one doesn't justify buying it again. Meh...

What have I done, I already have the $15 Mehta Strata. I wanted the Mehta frame, so now I order an Meh1, an hour after I hit the Meh button, oh well.
I mostly like my Meta Strata. I am lousy at discriminating sounds, so I had to keep my phone in my shirt pocket. Ok quick question i have my smart phone in my belt holster and explain why i need a smart watch also ? jus wonderin ty in advance
@mellowirishgent Don't have to dig your phone out of backpack/purse/pocket as often.
@mellowirishgent If you don't think you need one, you don't. Don't buy something you don't think you need.
Yesterday, someone asked me if I got an Apple Watch yet. I told them I stopped wearing a watch when I got an iPhone*.
*I actually use and Android phone but i thought it would make the point better by saying iPhone.
@ACraigL I'm not sure that comment was long enough to justify having its own footnote.
@darksaber99999 Really?*
@darksaber99999 *I do.
So glad its sold out (yeah, no red!)! I waited too long to get the stainless and now can't blow another $50! Again, I love my Metawatch Frame for $15!
it shows that i could get red only now, so yea i will pass
@ozob Seriously. Spent 40 minutes trying to get into the website on mobile and there's only a color no sane adult can wear in public. Ugh.
Is there anyway to make the red look silver?
@BrandonBlunk
@BrandonBlunk try a sharpie
:( Which is probably why they try to charge me $28 for a 14"x17" Strathmore sketch pad.
no cell phone; no shits given.
@ekw that surely must suck when you are away from home with the increasing dearth of pay phones.
@RedOak there's not really very many people I want to talk to, at home or away. :-) what I don't understand with this device is: it requires that your cell phone is near by. is there anything that it does better than simply using an app on your phone?
@ekw I think that phone connectivity is exactly the point. Without it the device is simply a watch. A crappy watch, but still a watch.
And yes there are better, also a lot more expensive, smart watches available. But they likely don't belong on meh without a severe discount.
@ekw For me, it's not so much that it does anything better than a phone app, so much as it provides a more convenient display for simple notifications than my phone. It's a lot simpler to glance at my watch if I'm getting a call or received a text message and see if it's actually important.
@lljk you're going to check your watch to see if you should answer your phone?
@ekw With a smartwatch, you can!
My watch went from TX to TN to MD, and back to TN. Gotta love smart post.
defective watch out of the box.... weak!!!
buttons are unresponsive 99.875% of the time, bluetooth connectivity is more moody than a teenage girl, and it wiped out its own set up after fighting with it for 4 hours today.... it would have been nice to get a mediocre watch at this point, this one doesnt even come close to being that good.
@ErikRL At least you got yours to do something. Mine just says "Welcome! Let's get started >" and pressing any button makes it reboot. I should have just bought one of the refurb Pebbles on Woot.
@ErikRL shoot us a line at https://meh.com/support and we'll help you get this worked out.
@JonT i did a few hours ago
This watch is tricky to set up. It's not intuitive at all...and no quick start Guide is included. By trial and error I got it paired with my phone... The watch by itself won't do anything until it's paired.
@sourhead So it's ready to pair on the welcome screen?
I think that's right. What I would do is to work on the watch along with your phone. Turn on bluetooth on your phone and you should see the Meta as a pairing option. Then, once it pairs you can download the Meta app through Google Play. ...and THEN the watch will update. It took some tinkering, but I have it working now and I'm enjoying it.
@sourhead Hmmm... I never see the watch pop up in the device list on my phone. I've tried every combination I can think of. I'm pretty sure it's just DOA.
@cjrhoades Did you download the app?
hmm...did you download the app? Maybe I did that first
Yeah, I have the app, but apparently you need to have the watch paired to your phone before it'll do anything. I cannot get it paired.
Is it just me or do the couple and car on the Metawatch homepage look like they belong on the set of Gattaca?
http://meta.watch/
This is not necessarily bad thing. Gattaca is one of my all-time favorite (top ten at least, maybe top five) movies.
Amazon Product Page
With a little tinkering, it's reversible. I think it looks quite a bit better with the textured side out.
