@ceagee sorry just read the post from last month..update--no I am "punished" enough -- seriously my mother fell yet again this time had to go to ER by ambulance (she fell again this past Monday and broke her ankle) .. She had surgery yesterday and isn't doing well at all -- she is having bad reaction to medications and talking crazy --I stayed at the hospital with her all last night so thats how I managed to grab fubu bag last night (as I was up with her and didn't get any sleep).. Did I say it sucks to get old and for ones parent to get old..Thanks for your kind message though wishing my mom well.

@ceagee Meh. I was doing pretty well, but got my ass handed to me this week. I'll be back though, damnit.

@ceagee One of my Beginner B mates has 22 points with only one player left (with a predicted score of 0). It could be worse.

@ceagee I am in both leagues, because I was the last minute filler player (after I was mistakenly left out, even the guy who signed up after the deadline was included, and I was not). The person I filled in for in B posted they were at some appointment, I offered to make them second owner so they could play my crappy draft picks, and they haven't contacted me back!

@joelmw @Bogie has AJ Green (34 points ! ) who selfishly took away all the catches that left my TE zero. Well, except for the one that didn't count because of the lame call by the refs. Still zero is zero.
Perhaps @Bogie is a ringer ?

Actually I have an outside chance if my kicker (GB) can make 15 points. (14 to tie) Somehow I think that is unlikely, but you never know. Of course if you added in the TD I ( and Eifert ) were robbed of...... But we don't seem to have a league rule on that.

@ceagee I tried to make the teams similar so that I would have to read less player news, but it's only about half the same.

@ceagee Ugh... yes... sorry. Was supposed to help out. Been on my third straight week of overtime at the job and kids got sick. I can come up with more excuses, if those aren't quite enough. Sorry!

But, but, buuuuuut, I did look over you team that first week and thought the lineup looked good. I was even halfway through writing something on the wall/comment/whatever for the matchup. That said something was still open in an old browser tab... so... you know, expect to receive that in another four weeks.

I promised some help. You've actually been doing pretty well on your own; I've been watching some. Keep doing what you're doing. The projections can help get an idea of how a player will perform, but they're just estimates based on whoever the person is writing them (though ESPN does a decent enough job at it). Other indicators that can help point towards success are relying on the hivemind... check out the rate of people who are starting a particular player, and, when it comes to adding someone you maybe be interested in, look at the ownership percentage.

We're starting to get into the bye weeks, so make sure those gaps are covered. If you have to drop somebody you like in order to cover a hole, try to make it one of the less valuable players on your team... you probably know who those people are by now.

The great thing about fantasy football is once you get over that initial learning curve, it's accessible to almost everyone. You really don't have to obsessively follow teams to get a good idea, thanks to all the resources available on a good site like ESPN's (I prefer Yahoo's, which has a little bit more, in case you feel like cross-referencing).

Most importantly... don't beat me. Because, you know... reasons.

I hate that one of my best isn't playing til Monday, so I have to gamble on his Q or put in a P. The other is the Sun. night game so I already decided to put in the P for his Q.

@ceagee I saw that you picked up John Brown, whom I'd dumped. I'm already regretting that and not looking forward to when you play him against me.

@ceagee In my other league, my big scorers didn't show up. I'm up by a half point. He's got Odell Beckham playing tonight. Maybe he'll get hurt getting off the bus.

@joelmw I didn't play Beckham this week b/c his is the big Q. That's why I picked up Brown. So it worked out, thanks for that ! I don't know if they have put him in or not, so you might get lucky. I couldn't wait to see.

My other big Q that I took out was Dion Lewis. He only got 3 pts. I put in McCoy for the Bills coming in as a P off several weeks off and he had a nice 15. However Stewart, who has done nada all year for Car. had a big week at 19 and was on the bench. Ya never know.

But now Sanders is injured -- Left the Denver game early, but still did well. They have a Bye next weeks. Hoping that gives his shoulder all it needs to put him back in.

Which brings me too... next week half my team is on bye. Going to do some shopping. Got anybody else you want to drop ? : )

@ceagee I don't share that well. I was the youngest, and a bastard, so I got used to being special. I'm generally a good kid and highly ethical, and I'll share if I have to, but, yeah, it's just not something I've ever been really good at it. At the same time, I generally don't presume to be shared with.

It's only made worse by the fact that my experience shows that most too many people don't give a shit about the stuff you share with them, either not taking care of it, not using it properly and respectfully, not returning it, not communicating about it, presuming on the demonstrated kindness.

Now, if you mean "share" as in just giving stuff away, I think I'm at least average in that regard.

But this is a game. And I'm supposed to win. So I won't give you shit.

@Bogie I think there is a day of the week there, and that's when you get them, unless it's a free agent and then you get them right away.

@Bogie 3am-ish on whatever morning is indicated in the pending claim or player info page. Most waivers clear Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, from the weekly games. But players dropped by other teams also go on waivers whenever they are dropped. Just look for "Status: WA ([day])"

@christinewas Is that because the person that dropped can change their minds? I don't understand that whole waiver thing either. It just makes a delay a pain in the ass. No one I have asked for hasn't gone through.

@ceagee It gives everyone a chance to snag dropped players without having to keep an eye on league activity 24/7. Waiver priority determines who gets the first shot at a player. (Based on reverse standings in the meh leagues, giving the losers a little hope.)

But doesn't someone go off the list of "available" once someone snags them ? So how do you know someone has picked them up and is waiting for it to come through ? This seems a bit complicated.
Plus, I think most of us are too polite to really care if someone else wants someone I'd be like ok.

@ceagee I assume that if someone with a better waiver number asks for that player before the deadline they get them and you don't.

@ceagee Free agents also go on waivers after their games start each week. Because of this, most players come off waivers (get processed in a waiver claim or become a free agent) on Wednesday mornings. Other players come off waivers a day or two after they have been dropped. (Whatever the league waiver period is.)

@sammydog01 Yeah. Whoever has highest wiaver priority gets their top claim. They then go to the bottom of the priority list and it moves down to the next person and so on, eventually looping back to the first person (allowing multiple claims). If it gets to you and the player you want is taken, you obviously don't get them. I've put in as many as 15 claims in one week and gotten only one or two of the players I hoped for.

@ceagee You never know who tried to claim whom, with the exception of claims that are successful. Basically, at 3am(-ish), the computer goes through all of the players coming off of waivers. People with waiver claims essentially take turns picking players. Only... The computer sorts it out.

I'm really tired, or I'd give a much clearer and more concise explanation. Chances are, I'm just making it seem more complicated. Sorry!

@christinewas You lost me a couple posts ago. No worries. I've never not gotten anyone I've requested. But I think that's b/c our league is pretty laid back.

@ceagee No. All players on waivers will continue to show as available until waiver claims process. You only know who you have claimed. Well... and you know someone has claimed whicher players they end up getting. But all failed claims remain hidden.

He played three guys on bye one week (and lost--to me). He won't make it through the playoffs. God, I hope he doesn't. He's due to lose this week and should drop to third. The person I'm playing this week started two guys on bye.

And one of the people who makes the most changes has been at or near the bottom all year. He's currently 2-4.

I lost My QB right away (Tony Romo) Lucky to have picked up Carson. And lots have been out for several weeks at a time.
Sanders hasn't done much the last 2 weeks. They activate him, but he has been listed Q or P. I think b/c he's still nursing injury and they haven't had close games, they haven't been playing him much.

Is it b/c I don't follow this sport much that there seems to be more injuries than usual, or are there ?

@AttyVette Well you have a kicker and a TE and and I have a RB tomorrow night that will decide it between us. I am currently 10pts ahead. I think I got really lucky that I had 2 players do really well, cause the rest has sucked. I had 4 players get 5 or less points.

Guess the Colts were tired of "horsing" around in Baltimore!

@AttyVette I wish they'd just pick a city and stick with it. And then it's really crazy that the Oilers moved to Tennessee and then changed their name. Then Houston got a new team, but couldn't be the Oilers, even though no one was using that name. So now they have some lame name and I call them the Oilers anyways.
As for the Baltimore Colts --My much ( really ) older sister had a poster of Johnny Unitas on her wall and as her bratty little sister I drew a mustache on him. Boy did I get in trouble.

And yes I screwed up my activations. I should of had Lewis (NE) in as RB and Manning. Oh well..... Hindsight and all that.

@ceagee ..the Houston Texans couldn't be the Houston Oilers as I heard the owner Bud Adams ( of original Houston Oilers) required that name to be retired (taken off the list) for Houston when they were awarded a new NFL franchise team. I understand not wanting Tennessee Oilers for football team name but Houston loved their Oiler team ( think love ya blue days). I like the Texans but my favorite team was always Dallas Cowboys.. Dating myself but I grew up watching Roger ( the dodger) Staubach and Walt Garrison ..later Tony Dorsett. Loved watching the duels between Bob Griese and Roger Staubach. I always knew to watch the last two minutes of the game, as that's when the Cowboys usually would pull out a win on a Hail Mary pass .Awww those were the days.

@ceagee haha true ...I actually have two Corvettes, an 82 charcoal and silver ( bought used in 88) and a 2014 Velocity Yellow. Lol I love sports cars and thankfully my spouse doesn't mind:) and he could care less about driving or owning sports cars:). Yes I am an attorney and I use to be a prosecutor...years before that I worked 13 and 1/2 years at refineries/ chemical plant as an operator. ( First female chemical plant operator at local Texaco chemical plant). Also, I previously worked as a correction officer before becoming a prosecutor. I know more of my life story than anyone else cares to hear about but I've never fit in a specific category ...heck I still play video games and started when my son was a little guy. Just beat Halo 5 Guardian when I was home this past weekend and have the New Call of duty ordered that comes out this week! Guess I am like Peter Pan and I'll never grow up.. My DD btw isn't my Corvettes but is actually a red 350 z..I've put 182,000 miles on my z and of course, do not want to put all that mileage on my vettes.
( video gaming is a release from stress for me as well as this site..mom is still in skilled nursing facility (SNF) with broken ankle and my father fell last night and banged up his head, hurt his left hand and skinned both of his knees). I drove in Last night to check on dad. I am now at SNF so dad can go home and rest .. He looks terrible but when I am not here with mom, he has been staying here)

@AttyVette @sammydog01 @ceagee I'm a guy and, actually, I kinda hate football, for a variety of reasons--especially the NFL. Though I do admit that it's difficult to not admire particular aspects and moments of the game.

But on the whole, I'd have to say that it's too apt a metaphor for so much of what's wrong with American culture.

Fantasy football is really all about the numbers for me. I pick up bits and pieces incidentally about the players and teams, but I don't really care about either.

@ceagee nah...this is how it always is at this point of the season. That is why stocking up on rb's early is a good thing. Especially handcuffing backups that are good. If someone had Freeman at this point they should have had Coleman. Lacy - Starks, D Murray - Mathews, other handcuffs are not always worth it.

@mfladd Matthews has a big O for a concussion and Saunders has a big O for about 3 different things.
