Meh Wine and Site Issues That Carry Past Midnight
3So I got my gf hooked on Meh.
She gets home the other night, decides to order the wine. It’s about 11:50. She hits the Order button.
Site is super, super laggy. Takes forever to get to the next page.
She battles through and perseveres. This continues through the entire order process.
Eventually, she finally gets to the final ordering page. By now it’s just about midnight.
Hits the confirm button to complete the purchase. Site continues to be seriously laggy.
By the time the page refreshes, it’s now after midnight and comes up with the ‘Oh sorry, this sale has ended’ error message.
BOOOOOOOOO!
She sends an email to Customer Support via the website. General gist of the message is ‘Hey, you had this one minute ago. Your site was super slow to process and now you say you don’t have any more??’ which, let’s face it, is a valid point. It’s not coming in the next day wanting to order this - it’s ordering on the right day just due to site performance issues, the transaction carried over to the next day.
After a couple of days the reply came back that she was out of luck but check back maybe it will be sold again.
There has got to be a better way to address this kind of situation. It’s understandably left a really bad impression for her. She didn’t tell me about this until last night otherwise I would have snagged a case for her during the VMP Last Call too.

I bought 3 half cases and will have one of mine redirected to her free of charge. I’ll ask CS to search down by inquiry.
@snapster
Until the news find out she is underage and they take you to jail.
@snapster classy move
@ELUNO conveniently, changing it within the winery logistics flow includes the adult sig required on delivery!
@snapster what a nice move by your part! I love how helpful this community is to each other
@YourLazyButt
Especially if the goatapus (otherwise known as @snapster) willingly gives away some mediocre wine.
@snapster quick, somebody get this to some sort of news site. well done. well done all.
This happened to my GF too! Conveniently she uses the same address as me… soooooo…
@Pufferfishy Yeah, nice try.
@snapster Thank you very much. That’s an awesomely generous offer of you and I hope you know that it’s appreciated.
That said, I do want to make clear that my intent with this wasn’t to rant or be pissed or try to get anything special done for her, or complain about C/S (They are awesome after all) but only to point out the gap in the ordering system that would allow a transaction to carry past rollover and subsequently get cancelled.
While it’s not a horrific issue it is something that can conceivably come up again in the future and perhaps a bit of logic can be tossed in that allows for clicking ‘Buy’ before midnight and as long as the transaction is complete by say, 12:15 and as long as stock is available, the transaction can complete.
Thank you for always being a kickass company.
@Bingo now that this specific issue is on track to be resolved, it’s easier to respond generally: My empathy is due to technical database issues that were very bad earlier in the week. I don’t support ability to lock inventory during a purchase attempt. Sellout of inventory or end of event time should both terminate a sales attempt in progress.
@snapster Fair enough. Either way I still respect your approach in general and still enjoy giving you my money so it’s all good. Appreciate the response as well.
@snapster
So… Does that mean you don’t like what’s done on fuko days?
@PlacidPenguin this is always the mode we’re in. “no holds” on inventory.
@snapster
I thought you were holding a vintage half case of whine for me …,
@snapster Does that mean we’ll see an Oh Shit report sometime soon?
