I wanted to let everyone know exactly what features our forums have in case you're having trouble posting that hilarious cat gif you love

There's a detailed but slightly outdated Changelog over at the Mediocre Forums.

So here's what you can do on the Meh forum, I'll keep this thread updated when new features come along.

Embeds

Image and gif embeds work when you paste in the image url directly, no forum code needed. If it ends in .jpg, .png, .gif, it’ll automatically embed. Unless it's from some weird site, in which case you should just upload it to imgur.

https://i.imgur.com/ bgwwQ1T.gif

That’s the url I pasted in that automagically makes the gif appear. I added a space so you can actually see it.

If you post the gallery link from imgur, it won't convert:
https://imgur.com/bgwwQ1T
notice it doesn't end in .jpg, .png, or .gif.

And if you don’t know how to upload a picture, try this: http://www.wikihow.com/Upload-Images-to-Imgur

You can also directly embed YouTube, Vimeo, and Vine videos the same way by just linking the URL:

( http://vimeo.com/ 91011679 )

( https://vine.co/ v/hWZ9mbJZaKE )

This works for Tweets, SoundCloud, and Kickstarter campaigns too.

Lists

Make a bulleted list by using - (with a space before & after) in front of text.

  • This is a list
  • This is next on that same list

Make a numbered list by using 1.(with a space before & after) in front of text.

  1. Make post about formatting
  2. People point out you forgot about lists
  3. ???
  4. Profit.

Other Stuff

You can edit your comments, replies, and topic titles for up to 5 minutes after posting by clicking the edit button:

Tag other users by using the @ symbol and if they have the option enabled they’ll get an email, curse you @Ryaniel @marklog!

You can wrap your text with double tilde characters to strikethrough

Make a

Header

by placing a # before text on its own line.

You can do a

Block Quote

by using > (with the space after) on a new line.

If you really feel like getting in deep, we support MOST of the features from this list.

TL;DR: Read it to learn how to post good.
