I love it when old(er) people embrace their birthday. After all, it really is a cause for celebration. Yes, you made it another year. Yay, you!
I, myself, have never had a birthday party on my actual day of birth (something about it being a national holiday and nobody thinks that I'm important enough to forgo their other celebration). So enjoy your birthday. May you have many day of birth, birthday parties to come!

- @Barney My family had the opposite experience -- my mom's birthday was the Fourth of July and as far as she was concerned, nothing else was ever going to happen on that day. Friends would invite us to their cookouts or to see fireworks and it just wasn't going to happen. But Moms can get away with that because Moms are awesome. And we finally went to see the fireworks during the Bicentennial (the summer after I graduated high school), because that wasn't inappropriate. Whichever holiday is your birthday, I'll always toast you!
