Meh button etiquette
7So probably a FAQ or something exists, but I’m way too mediocre to look for it. What’s the protocol for Meh button clicks? What if I actually buy the item? It seems that I shouldn’t click the Meh button since I thought it was worth at least whatever price it’s being sold for (and therefore not Meh), but I also then lose the streak. SO MUCH CONFUSION!!!

The button is put there by Meh in order to fuck with you.
If you don’t want Meh to fuck with you, don’t visit the site.
Click. Don’t click. Whatever. They count your clicks so you can brag or get obsessed.
This causes s lot of pain to those among us. If you can manage indifference or a continuous smirk toward the Meh button clicks, it’s for the best.

6 mos of purfect no clicks though I almost clicked a few times the offerings were so sucky. But I managed to sublimate the urge into a nervous tic.

@narfcake My longest streak was around 38 because there would be evenings that I’d forget to check meh and I never think about meh during the day when I’m doing actual life things. But then they started sending me daily emails to make me remember during the day that meh exists and now my streak is 95.

So at first I was like, well just because I don’t like the product, I don’t have to be rude and click meh. Then I went to, well maybe they want me to click it if I don’t like the product…for marketing purposes…so I clicked it when I really found the product useless. After starting to read the forums, I tried to hang with the cool crowd and click it daily. I lasted three days. Now I kinda think @f00l is correct and its just there to mess with my head and make me think way too much at midnight.

I’m pretty sure the button is there just to encourage you to visit the site every day to click it. So I’m sure the Mediocre people would like you to buy stuff, even after clicking the meh button to keep your streak going. The longer your streak the more likely you are to visit the site to keep it going, but they do want you to buy shit, too.

You have to always click the button or the button icon won’t show up in your button click history.

The point of the meh button, from Mediocre’s end, is to measure user engagement. This is different from plain old page views, as users who actually give enough of a shit to interact with your site are more valuable than those who merely look at it.
The point of the meh button, from our end, is to get the biggest streak possible. My current streak is 375.

@f00l Well I didn’t list them as I couldn’t be bothered to go find that thread a while back where they were most recently listed. My longest streak was over mid 100’s and then the meh eating bot got me - in fact it has gotten me more than several times. Who cares. I have them all for the first year - bought the t-shirt. LOL

@lljk OK, so you’re saying your 375 in a row beats my highest streak of 170 (748 clicks over 814 days). Makes sense.
But what about my 44 orders (or those who have over 100) to your 14 orders? Who’s more valuable? (Although, that still ignores profitability… I’ll admit I’ve been fairly stingy and picky as to ~what~ I’ve bought… and there were those 2 or 3 items @JonT gave me free.)

I’m guessing the meh button started out as entertaining bling that was fun to program. The users then gave it a meaning and found value in it. The meh button is like life, it’s whatever you make of it.
