Tonight, Meh is catering specifically to the segment of their clientele who has four times as many cars as they do walls. Thank you Meh, for looking out for even that oft forgotten contingent.
@shahnm@thechinglish I don’t have one of those, but I do have a single car charger with 4 USB outputs, identical except color to one offered here recently.
TT-A3U maximum charging capacity of a single port is 2.4A if you need multiple 2.4A charging at the same time this will not do that FYI. Still a great deal for the bundle
@Kcco The plug-in 3-port thing would be nice if it came with cables. Otherwise it’s another non-usable thing and I think most of us have powered usb ports around (adapters, laptops, powerbanks). The car chargers, I could maybe use another but don’t need 4. The power banks are 2 for $19 on morningsave, a reasonable buy except they are a specific setup (USB-C in) that isn’t for everyone. So basically the offer is some useless stuff for free added to the Mophie packs at the regular price.
I see the 1200mah keychain carabiner thing is now 2 for $15 instead of 2 for $20, so maybe they will hit a daily offer at 2 for $10 or something, which would be a good buy (a tiny thing like that is handy if your phone craps out someplace). Unfortunately it’s USB-C out but we’ll all eventually have USB-C phones so ok.
Looking at the other Mophie packs, I like the 6040mah and 4000mah ones with built in micro-usb cables since the trouble with powerbanks is usually trying to find a cable. Maybe @troy can put those up on sale some night. There are also several with built-in lightning or usb-C if your stuff uses those. Mehstalker shows the 4000mah was up at 3 for $15 on 2020-10-04 which is what they are at on morningsave now, so I wonder if the batteries in these things are hitting the end of their shelf life.
Anyone have opinions or usage reports of the Instacharge stuff? They are mostly cheaper than comparably spec’d Mophies.
@phr Take advantage of the USB-C Keychain carabiners if you want them – we’re dangerously low on stock . Mophie > Instacharge; the Instacharge banks are from 2015.
If wasn’t a recovering business traveler with every (rental) car charger I needed, I would seriously consider this. The USB-C cables may push me over the top.
Wait, the cable is NOT in the box? Are you trying to bait me again me?
@troy I wish you’d offer a set of good cheap usb-a to micro-b cables, or even expensive ones like Anker. Those are the most common type of cable and mine keep going bad or getting lost. So I always need more.
I looked for the weird colors/lengths that are cheapest (well, and the really short ones, but those were cheap too), and then I got like a dozen. So far they’re still holding up.
@yeppers Thanks, that’s good to know, but I’d have to order $39 of stuff or else pay way more for shipping than for the cables. Also they are out of the short ones. I’ll bookmark it for later use though.
It sounds like you need a usb-c cable to charge up the mophie bank. Are those still less common than micro-B? All my stuff is older and still micro-B. Do the powerbanks support USB PD fast charging, if they require USB-C anyway?
@phr Yes, you would use a USB-C end to charge this. According an earlier post and also the photos, each powerbank comes with a short USB-A to USB-C cable. So that could be used for charging the bank from a USB-A, and for providing a USB-C output to something else.
Obviously you may want (and probably already have) longer cords, and also a USB-C to USB-C if your source is USB-C.
@phr The bricks support a strangely limited subset of USB-PD. With the exception of a pass through mode, they are 5 volt only.
When my Pixel 3 is plugged into a USB port without PD, it will “slow” charge at 1 amp at 5 volts, 5 watts. When my phone is plugged into a USB-PD port, it will charge at up to 9 volts and up to 2 amps, which is up to 18 watts. It uses PD to negotiate voltage and current draw.
It repeatedly asks the charger to raise the voltage by a tenth of a volt until either it gets to 9 volts, or the charger or cord says “I can’t do that”. The phone then queries the charger and cord to find the amperage limit. Thus, my phone “fast” charges at 5 volts and 2 amps, which is 10 watts.
These power bricks are great for 5 volt devices that may draw as much as 3 amps, such as a Raspberry Pi 4.
@hamjudo Thanks. That helps me resist this. My phone uses micro-b and supports Qualcomm quick charge so I’ll try to hold off on this stuff til I get a usb-c phone. And then I’m gonna try to get one with wireless charging.
@ the price comparison(s). Almost $20 for 2 basic car chargers? I’ve gotten several for free without really trying, so my avg purchase price is probably ~$2.
Anyone with a Subaru know why any charger barely works with the car connections? That is a real question even though it sounds like the start of a joke.
This was a FAST shipment. It was delivered in just a few days. While I still have a couple other MEH treasures still floating around the Postal system (yes ordered Mid Jan).

powerful offer tonight
One of these things is virtually guaranteed to not burn your house down.
It’s been over a year since I ordered anything from Meh. Am I about to get booted from the site? I mean, I’m just an interloper at this point.
Again with the pancakes? Now I feel like making pancakes…at midnight! Curse you Meh!
There’s a typo in the model number. I think.
these are going straight to the kid

@shahnm bruh u don’t have one of those cigarette lighter splitters?
@shahnm @thechinglish I don’t have one of those, but I do have a single car charger with 4 USB outputs, identical except color to one offered here recently.
7 things for $19 dollars shiny thing oh god oh god oh god

Are those 1amp car chargers?
@cotten516 Yes. If you zoom in on the picture of them they are labeled with 1000mA output.
@cotten516 @Wookee
yeah… tell me again how that earns the qualifier ‘rapid charging’…
@chienfou @Wookee
1 amp was rapid charging…In 2008

@hchavers https://www.bestbuy.com/site/mophie-powerstation-8000-mah-portable-charger-for-most-usb-enabled-devices-navy/6432662.p?skuId=6432662 says it includes a USB-A to USB-C cable. I guess that is to charge the powerbank with. One of the q/a says the cable is 4 inches long.
@hchavers USB-C cable is included. Thanks for noticing! I added it to our specs

@phr @troy I’ve found Monoprice’s "Select Series"22/28 AWG to be surprisingly good.

Great value if you need it AND you’re okay with “rapid charge” that is actually quite slow by today’s standards.
@ the price comparison(s). Almost $20 for 2 basic car chargers? I’ve gotten several for free without really trying, so my avg purchase price is probably ~$2.
@mehvid1 They are 4 for $6 on morningsave:
They must really be meh.
@mehvid1 @phr
they have 2 output 2.4 amp car chargers at the Dollartree for… get this… a dollar each!
@chienfou @phr Yeah, <$2 is my avg lifetime purchase price. Wouldn’t pay for one of these listed today.
50-MUCH-CH463 = So Much…Chage? Not enough O’s in smooth for this one…
@kenelena No, I think it’s So Much Channel 463 - the new Meh Shopping Channel on Sling Purple.
Whew! Our local used car dealer can buy three of these and run a deal…buy one of twelve vehicles and we’ll include the car charger for free!
