Just arrived, last month. She’s settling in nicely. (Pretty sure she was dumped, she was hanging out in our entryway for a couple of weeks and turned out to be very friendly.)
Aw, Jessie is beautiful @lisaviolet! With all those cats, I was wondering if you use any automatic litter boxes? I got one for Snickers and CC, and I would have a hard time going back.
@chienfou Just a simple cat door. We added one to a screen door last year.
Our entire fence has a barrier on it so that the cats can’t get out. Had it up since January 1994. Even the trees have barriers so that the cats can’t climb them. We did this after our youngest at the time climbed the fence into the neighbor’s yard behind us and their dog broke her back. Hollywood. Her name was Hollywood and she was fourteen months old. The barrier was up within weeks.
We do get an occasional opossum or raccoon in the yard, which isn’t fun when they figure out the cat doors (which has happened).
Hi Jessie. I hope you settle in well and become good friends with the rest of the family.
I adopted a little boy (about 2 years old) a few months ago who was likely dumped. After some adventures he found a friendly person and camped out on their patio until they brought him in and got set up as his foster. He’s such a cute bundle of energy and chaos and snuggles and purrs. Although he’s a horrible work from home supurrvisor. Always sleeping on the job!
At one point I had 9 cats. Down to 4 now. I am, so far, resisting keeping any of the ones I fed, in some cases for months, that were left behind by people when they moved.
Three of the younger litter are being transported to PA next week (the 4th someone snatched it at 4 weeks old after scaring them from out from under the steps to give to his girlfriend - I was pissed as they weren’t even really weaned yet). Two of the littles got into the live animal trap pretty quickly, as well as one of the older litter (7 or so mo at the time). Mama kept smacking the last little in the head to keep him out. Took 2 months more for me to catch him. He’d follow me around, talk to me a lot… I finally got him to sniff my fingers (tuna on them) and then 2 days later bribed him with tiny tiny pieces of tuna to come right up to me, he lifted his head to be petted (that was a first) and I grabbed him by the nape of the neck. Fortunately for me kitty reflex kicked in so I wasn’t mauled to death over that. We then picked up mama (she liked to be held) and finally had them all 4 months after I started taking care of them.
Sadly two of the older litter were killed by cars before I had fosters for them. One it was really sad. He had followed me after he was done eating, wanting attention, I was talking to two neighbors who had a dog with them. When we were done I turned around to give him attention and he was no where to be seen. That was the last time I ever saw him. Still makes me sad. He was an incredible loving cat who wanted to be within 2 feet of me at all times, preferably one me or right next to me.
Awww, those soulful eyes!
Pretty kitty!
Irresistible
Dare I ask how many you have now?

@speediedelivery Twelve. The vet said she’s four or five years old, so about the same age as the Avenger litter.
Nice!
Awwww hi Jessie! She’s lovely!

@therealjrn No, we have eight boxes in the house and the cats also have access to the backyard. Boxes are cleaned every morning.
My husband took over that job years ago.
She is pretty. Still acclimating.
@lisaviolet
Do you use just a simple cat door, or is it chipped to the cats?

@lisaviolet
Yeah, we were gone for a couple of days and one of the local cats came into the house when we first had our non-chip door.
Please pass along some head skritches from me.
@yakkoTDI please give her some well deserved tail strokes & if possible belly rubs.
My rescue cat Thor, says Welcome to your Forever home!
