March 6 -- Travel time!
6So, I am off on my quest for knowledge. I am traveling the great distance (NOT!) to Boston for a training class. My old stomping grounds from my first job out of college are going to be interesting. Dusting off the parts of my brain that enjoyed riding the T to remember how it all works!
What is your favorite method of travel?? Have things changed vastly in your lifetime?? I remember needing tokens to ride the subway – now everything is magnetic stripes…

@CaptAmehrican boat? small boat or cruise ship size boat?
I’ve only ever traveled by car or by bus.
I prefer car, though it’s better if I’m not driving.
@PlacidPenguin there are pluses and minuses to other methods of travel. I like the freedom of riding in a car…
I’m pretty much with @CaptAmehrican, cruise ship tops the list (take your hotel room with you everywhere you go and excellent meals are included). The train is fun, especially if you have a sleeper car, but quarters are tight. I like traveling by car if I don’t have to drive.
@moondrake I am not happy on a train if it is a long journey. I don’t like being stuck in one place for too long, without being able to get fresh air.
You need to ping @jbartus for B-town questions.
@mfladd Did…
I prefer to travel by Tardis.
@mfladd
Mandatory:
@mfladd that explains alot
Tardis is pretty good. As is that fireplace thing they do in Harry Potter.
In the US, and prob Canada as well, if I have the time, I prefer to drive.
@f00l not a Potter Fan, will have to ask the kid about the fireplace – I thought they did a train, something about 9 3/4?
@mikibell
Floo Powder - Travel by fireplace.
Platform 3/4 - Travel by Hogwarts Express.

The have the Hogwarts train, they have a fireplace thing, they have broomsticks and cars, they have portals, they have fancy advanced appear-somewhere-else-stuff, the house elves can do even fancier stuff it seems …
Flying horses. Dragons. I’m sure I’ve missed a few.
@f00l I know the paintings are active people… I have seen that scene at the beginning of the first movie.
No motorcycle aficionados? It is one of my favorite methods of travel…
@mikibell I’d like to if I could. My husband has a couple and that’s how he commutes, also. I took the class to get the m/c cert a few years back, and sadly failed. Nothing surprising there though, I’m not the most coordinated. Whatever.
@moonhat
You left out “By Lazyboy”. Just give the women the credit card and tell them to leave you alone. and to bring back beer and chips.
@cranky1950 smh…
@mikibell will you please eat at Regina Pizzeria while you’re there please? Definitely the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Ever. Make sure to get something with ricotta cheese on it (their homemade cheese)
@luvche21 I didn’t see this before I made reservations – based on location, I ate at Max Brenner and Eastern Standard. I had a drink at Hawthornes. I recommend all of them.
Just got back from a short Carribean cruise a few weeks ago. It was great but I ate too much. All that free-included-with-the-fare food. We were ordering everything on the menu just to try it & share. Plus, I won a lot on their dumb slot machines. (I rarely gamble).
The 7 hour flight before & after sucked…
I prefer to drive places and/or take our little 19’ travel. trailer.
Cruise is first (Food & Booze)
Driving is second (I like to drive)
Flying is third. (Mostly because the security makes me feel like a damn terrorist or something)
Never been on a bus, train or subway.
@daveinwarsh reallyyyy?? no bus, train or subway? Not even a school bus?
@mikibell You got me. I did ride a school bus. Also, in the summer when I was maybe 10 to 14, I’d ride a very old shaky berry-bus out to the strawberry fields to earn extra money.
In Tijuana, I also got in a few taxis. Very scary.
@daveinwarsh bus-ted…
@mikibell I’ve been thinking about signing up for Uber.
It is in our area & to get around Seattle or something, it may be nice to use.
@daveinwarsh I have never Ubered… two of my in-laws are Uberers. I would ride with one of them, the other, not so much!!
@daveinwarsh @mikibell Dave, do you mean you are considering signing up to USE uber, or to be an uber driver? I’ve uber’ed (rode, not drove) in DT Seattle, in Kirkland, Everett, Leavenworth, and B’ham, etc and have always enjoyed it.
@daveinwarsh @moonhat holy crap that was like 18 months ago… I don’t know what I meant when I said whatever I said 18 MINUTES ago
@mikibell @moonhat FWIW, a spammer was here this morning. It was zapped in its 6th minute, but apparently not before new replies were added.
@moonhat @narfcake ahhhh that splains how this came up All good!!
@mikibell @moonhat I signed up to use Uber someday, but have never used it. I’m retired & won’t be an Uber driver.
Actually, I won’t need to earn any more money than my retirement.
