@mike808 and many have bought refurbished cats and dogs, many have had refurbished blood, some refurbished stem sells… and we have also bought repurposed cows, fish, chickens, lambs, pigs, etc. Besides TX air containers we breath used air, drink refurbished water…and etc.
I avoid refurbished electronics when they’re not refurbished by the manufacturer. Frequently, factory refurbs include a full manufacturers warranty, and are in pristine cosmetic condition (Apple and DJI are excellent examples). For all practical purposes, they are no different from a brand new product. If I’m shopping for electronics, I always check this option before buying new.
I haven’t often been satisfied with “authorized refurbisher” products. Functionality they are usually fine, but cosmetically they have been disappointing. Sometimes scuffed and scratched, occasionally downright well used. And frequently only including a short warranty from the refurbisher.
I always avoid “seller refurbished” items which are usually just used items, half-heartedly wiped off, reset or reloaded, and tossed into a generic box and typically include a 30 return warranty (often with the buyer being responsible for return shipping).
As much as I love a bargain, I’m also pretty particular and like stuff that at least looks mostly new and has a reasonable guarantee it’s going to work correctly for a bit. If I wanted a used looking item with no meaningful warranty I’d hit up Craigslist and at least be able to see and test it first, and probably pay less than the sketch refurb options.
Medical stuff and motor oil mostly.
@f00l valid points. But I’m pretty sure I’ve bought recycled motor oil before.
That’s not quite the same as refurbished, but it kind of is.
(I haven’t bought anything but full synthetic in years, though.)
My wife and I both have ex’s. Guess that makes us both confirmed purchasers of refurbished spouses.
Things to never buy refurbs:
Things we buy refurbs everyday:

I don’t think I’d want to buy a refurbished bidet or electric toothbrush.
@heartny or a personal massager
No refurbished (or pre-owned) underwear.
@narfcake Oh, you wouldn’t do well at the Iron Bar Hotel, Narf.
