I especially liked the magic bag in the parking lot. Making the person “disappear” at the park, which became a real life trend and I saw a few videos of “disappeared” people crying. I tried not to think too much about “how did he do that?” I did find myself thinking “wtf, how?!” quite often.
It is pretty easy to make Mike “disappear” on a stage but from the footage we are shown it is impossible unless everyone involved is a stooge.
When David Copperfield had his first big TV specials the word among other magicians was the same thing… captured audience stooges for special camera angles tricks.
Just made me think of the Warhol quote about (art) is anything you can get away with.
@fjp999 yeah. A lot of people started doing that to their friends. A few were funny that the kids started crying. I guess they were afraid they were stuck being “invisible”.
Magnets(or video trick) at the beginning, dealing off the bottom of the deck(the top being red is misdirection), constantly dropping stuff in his lap or picking it up. His hands are very stiff and give away a lot of what he’s doing.
@tmilker No video tricks. He could do this routine over and over in front of any audience. I don’t know if the table is built with magnets or not, could be, but probably some fast acting mechanism like pulleys. Usually simpler is best.
The rest of what you say is basic slight of hand table magic.
Not to give away any secrets but there is an important reason black velvet is used for the table - and used very impressively! but most of the act is done with slight of hand…
@medz Thanks. No need. I use to have a little magic act from Jr. High until about uni in the mid 80s. I didn’t do much slight of hand on stage (too nervous) but practiced little things at home - what this guy is doing is really difficult with years of practice which is why he won the grand prize.
The table is tricked out with black velvet for a couple of big flash things and small as well. I especially liked the bit where he moves the white tape/line over a card leaving it as a cut card - a mix of the black velvet and slight of hand to great effect.
@fjp999@medz Yes. He screwed up his bottom-of-deck dealing a bit a couple times. The next card up moved also. He also moved his hand too much while dropping the cards behind the table.
The guy was basically pretty good, though!
/image juggalo magnets how do they work
Nice! If you haven’t checked out Netflix’ Magic for Humans, I highly recommend. There was several of those where I was blown away.

@RiotDemon Yup, binge-watched this the other night. I like how he comes across as a genuine likeable guy. Most magicians have this odd air to them.
@jester747 yes. He does seem nice.

@RiotDemon this one?

@tmilker video tricks not allowed at FISM…
An amazing slight of hand artist!

@fjp999 Yeah. Pretty obvious. Play the video in 1080p full screen and set the playback speed to 25%

When I saw this recently it reminded me of someone from AGT… and the table he used… went digging around and I found it:
I mean the guy in the original post here is really doing some fancy SOH but I think the tables might be similar.
