Magazines
8I hate starting new threads. I don't feel worthy enough, and this one is probably a waste of space. But Discount magazines is having a $5 sale on subscriptions, and I imagine most people here don't care about magazines, but it really is a great sale. And it's fun to get mail.

@Teripie I couldn't tell you the last time I've had a magazine subscription. However, at this price, I'm seriously considering it. Have you ordered from them before and actually received the magazines you ordered? You're sure it's a reputable site and all that?
@PurplePawprints Yes, they're a good company. Been buying from them for years. I like to get subs for the various family members and surprise them. Who doesn't love a good cooking magazine?
@Teripie Ok, thanks! I think I'm going to get a few, then. My daughter would probably like the dance magazine, just not sure what to get my son. He's only seven and not really into anything yet. haha Thanks for posting this!
@PurplePawprints I second that they are awesome to buy from. No issues (pun not intended) with them, even when gifting subscriptions. I pick random magazines and subscribe my nephew to them ;)
Actually, the two glossies to which I subscribe, Bon Appetit and The Atlantic, are up for renewal in a couple months, so this is perfect timing! Thank you!
A lot (but not all) magazines have online options now too - I had Time Magazine and Sports illustrated and you could get their online versions through magazine apps (by entering your subscription info).
@ilovereality I have a subscription to Popular Science. They include access to the online edition at no charge (not always the case with all publictions). I have to say the online edition is pretty fantastic. Quick links to enhanced info like videos, additional statistics, links to similar articles or previously quoted information... some great additions.
This is the only place to get magazines from. When you subscribe for one year often there will be an even better deal for 2 years that pops up.
There is NO auto renewal - often the scam in other sites!!! and customer service is fantastic. I think I keep getting the phone number off BBB as they no longer list the phone # on the site.
btw, hate those scent pages and most, not all, publishers have scent-free issues. gotta call the publishers directly and it takes a couple months to start.
@fjp999 paper? why paper? Only magazine's I read i get on my Nook
Thanks for posting this! It's a source I wasn't aware of for an affordable variety of special interest magazines. After reading what I want to learn about, I use pages with my grandchildren to encourage them in collage-building, greeting card construction, and illustrations for the little stories they write. Beautifully-designed magazine features, ads, and random photography (on pastable glossy paper) inspire creativity in all of us.
Thanks, just bought 2 for my Mom!
This is a killer deal. Just ordered 4 - the amazing thing is they include online access (the ones I ordered-not all) so I can read them on my iPad and access ESPN insider free (which is $40 a year).
The only magazine I pay to get delivered is Mental Floss. It never seems to be on these sort of cheap deal sites. :(
It's hard to pass up Bon Appetit for 5 bucks. And Architectural Digest is a must for any coffee table. One that I subscribed to just for the hell of it, is Garden and Gun. It surprised me that it's a very upscale Southern mag.
@Teripie Weirdly, Garden & Gun doesn't show for me. Someone else said they got it too (different forum), but I, like, quadruple checked. I think not everyone gets the same offers.
@exor Are you looking in the Lifestyle and Fashion section? That's where it shows up when I look.
@PurplePawprints Yep. In Lifestyle & Fashion I get: Maxim, GQ, Rolling Stone, Glamour, Self, Men's Journal, Lucky, Allure, Teen Vogue, W, Bridal Guide, Details, Nylon, Time Out New York, Latina, Nylon Guys, and Martha Stewart Weddings. Now I've quintuple checked.
@exor That's weird. I wonder if it is based on location then. I have quite a few more offers than that when I look at that section.
@PurplePawprints It is weird. I even live in the Carolinas.
@exor you are also missing Cosmo and O magazine. -I'm so sorry.
@exor perhaps you need to work a trade with someone who wants a publication you can see but they cannot. Then you both order them sent to each other's addresses
@Teripie Thanks! Got two for my son, and one for myself.
I belong to this: https://www.rewardsurvey.com/ They send a survey reasonably often that usually takes about a minute to fill out. They give you reward points you can trade for magazines. The choices are rather limited but there are a few decent ones in there. It only takes one or two surveys to earn enough for a subscription and they don't automatically renew.
No Economist.
