Look Smart Trivia: Best Supporting
5A scroll through the past Oscar winners for Best Supporting Actor & Actress makes for a more varied, intriguing read than their better-known lead counterparts. More villains, for one thing. Yesterday, we enthusiastically gave you the responsibility for identification of 6-Syllable Words. Our valedictorian, the indefatigable human encyclopedia @cinoclav, was the personification of unimaginable superiority, and shall be the beneficiary of a $5 Meh coupon:

Aww shucks, thank you @JasonToon. I feel like yesterday’s was unconditionally difficult so I’m happy to be the beneficiary of this idiosyncratic puzzle. It left me feeling a bit discombobulated as I wasn’t sure I had enough familiarity with the images. Winning it truly ameliorated a difficult day and I’m looking forward to purchasing some cheap paraphernalia.
Out of curiosity, if I still have a $5 reward sitting in my account with the same code, will they combine so I now have $10 off an order?
@cinoclav - Congratulations!
I don’t think they let you combine them. Ask CS though.
@kdemo So not only does it not combine, but it only places one code on the account. I tried two separate orders and it didn’t recognize the code for the second order. Wrote in to cs…
@cinoclav - Oh yeah, they use the same code.
I’m not entirely clear on the MorningSave relationship with meh, but they wouldn’t let me use the coupon there either.
Too bad it’s the weekend. Hopefully they can apply the second discount for you tomorrow.
Ahem - This list may need a bit of polishing.
@kdemo yes, I wondered how they got Denzel to look like that…
@moonhat - It was a placeholder. Thank you for noticing.
@moonhat - I should have said CGI.
Got it. I think.
@kdemo have you ever seen Maggie Smith in “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie”? (Or did we already discuss that movie on Meh? I basically only have three topics of conversation, so it’s likely.)
@UncleVinny - Don’t remember such a discussion.
I did see that film, but it was lifetimes ago. Brilliant acting, though, if I remember correctly. Is it a standout for you?
The Piano is the only one I’ve seen from this list, but I’d kind of like to check out the last two now that I am aware of them. I know I should have seen Ed Wood.
@kdemo @UncleVinny I haven’t. Should I?
I saw Ed Wood- every horror fan probably did.
@kdemo @sammydog01 here’s the thing about “miss jean brodie”. I looked it up because she won best actress around the time I was born. (There was a quiz or something where you were supposed to find out about best actor/best actress from when you were born…and they became your spirit animal or whatever.)
And the movie had great reviews, so I was excited. And it turns out…it’s a great movie! But there were a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect, so I’m always looking for anyone who has seen it. So…add it to your list if you’re looking for an interesting evening in.
Ed Wood is funny! And that movie is from a time when both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton weren’t phoning it in. Good stuff.
I saw the Piano, and I remember being treated to a full, unexpurgated picture of Harvey Keitel’s rear-quarters. It is a vivid memory. Now…what movie do I need to watch to gather a vision of Burl Ives’ décolletage?
@sammydog01 @UncleVinny - Ha! Have you been playing in the Cosmo quizzes? Scandalous!
I just have a sense of the premise and outcome, I would have to watch it again to remember details.
And my main Burl Ives impression is something about a frog on a lily pad. We may have had a record all those years ago.

Found it. Pretty dark for a kid’s song, actually. Probably scarred me for life.
