The Like Brothel
11Apparently I’m stingy giving out likes… So if you want a comment to be liked post it in this thread and I’ll give it a nice gold star to get my “likes given” up and so I can stop being stingy.
I don’t want to be creepy and just go down a random thread starring everything.

@sammydog01 you get a star and you get a star and…

Why not? I’ve gone and starred comments in four year old threads when they randomly get bumped.
@RiotDemon Me too. Yellow is pretty.
@RiotDemon me too. Why not?!?

Woo hoo, I did it. I’m not longer stingy! Turns out I only had to give about 20 likes away to get away from the stingy tag.
I’ll still continue liking anything on here to prevent myself relapsing into stingyness though.
@OnionSoup The other way to get away from the stingy tag is not to post very often. That way your percentage of stars/posts goes up.

@Kidsandliz true…
… Wait… Was that a hint

@OnionSoup

@OnionSoup I’m labeled “pretty stingy” with 6853 likes given out. The altruism score comes under lies, damn lies and then statistics (although my sister and her husband, both CPA’s would add after that annual reports).

@mfladd so you have experience with brothels??? Lol
@tinamarie1974
@mfladd
Starring everything is creepy?
@InnocuousFarmer
How so?
Of course, I am quite creepy, but that’s a different subject.
And I don’t star everything.
Some things I miss. Other things I don’t like. Other things I’ve never read.

I think it will take more than 20 to change my stats:
mikibell is pretty stingy when it comes to handing out likes to other people’s posts, having doled out 3503 (for an altruism score of 0.7). mikibell’s posts have received 16325 likes, including the 5 likes they gave themselves (ew).
@mikibell get to work!
@mikibell Well, you know what to do.
Also, ew.
@mikibell 3503 likes is not stingy. They should really revise that phrasing, even if it’s a small percentage compared to your total posts.
I’ll never get the likes you give yourself thing. How hard is it to avoid doing so?
@Kawa If you nominate someone for goat then you can’t vote for them. That’s the one I find. Although I apparently liked myself 36 times so I guess by accident? Maybe I just really like myself.
@Kawa Sometimes you post something great, and then you are inattentive and forgetful while reviewing a thread. Or once, giphy put up a gif of a dog and I was compelled.
@Kawa mine are very old comments that I am sure I did while trying to see who starred my posts …and I am too lazy to find them!
@Kawa I’ve liked myself four times, one of those times was on purpose to be silly, I don’t recall the other three times.
@mikibell You have made enough comments they are likely impossible to find. I have made enough comments too so that even though I know 3 people who were in the thread, I haven’t found it yet as there were over 800 hits and I haven’t had time to look through them all. There needs to be a better search engine.
Search for self stars
Search for posts you starred

Oh C’mon… be a little creepy!
@lseeber so what you’re saying is, I should be myself?
@OnionSoup If the horns fit…

I am so excited, the real hockey season will be starting soon. Long live the Stanley Cup

You really do need to just “like” everything.
How else will we know if you really, really like us?
/giphy you really, really like me
So we should all star @OnionSoup’s posts to lower his altruism? Sound like a plan.
@sammydog01 is that how it works? I thought it was based on number of posts.
Don’t like me.
@OnionSoup I don’t know- I could be wrong. Have a star.
@sammydog01 dog nab it, have one back.
@sammydog01 it’s not based on how many likes you’ve received … I just did the maths…
My new posts plus threads made = 855
I have given out 931 likes.
931/855 = 1.088888
My altruism score is 1.1 ( which is the above number rounded up).
Receiving likes doesn’t lower your altruism rating. Creating more posts DOES. So to stay non stingy you have to have given more stars than made comments.
@OnionSoup either that or stop posting and just read and star
@OnionSoup @sammydog01 on a computer you can hover over the altruism word to see how exactly it calculates. Having likes given to you does not affect it. You just have to give more likes than you post for a high score. The quieter ones have really high scores.
@RiotDemon - yeah cuz the quiet ones altruistically give the rest of us their “spot” on the threads to keep the server from crashing because so many post
