I had to go into town today and found myself wishing that it was warm enough for yard sales. I really like yard sales. Are yard sales a thing in your area? Do you yard sale? Best find?

@therealjrn I’ve never been to an estate sale but watched one from my patio right after I moved in here. A doc/scientist owned the house behind me and passed. The sale and auction was pretty neat. I could see getting addicted to such a thing. And stuff went for a lot cheaper than I would have guessed. Almost brand new washer & dryer (Maytag) $40 each. Nice looking Explorer…couldn’t make out yr, under 5k. Complete master bdrm, $140. Yeah, I may have to give it a go.
@therealjrn My wife and I used to go to estate sales in the ritzy neighborhoods in Portland. We only occasionally bought anything, but we enjoyed the chance to wander around in the big old houses.
I rarely go because it’s unlikely that I’ll find something I want. The last sale I went to, they ended up leaving all the stuff out overnight for free because they didn’t want to pack it up. I felt really bad because people had donated the stuff so it could be sold for some charity.
I think favorite find was a belt that had a seatbelt buckle for only $2. I had wanted one forever and I think they sold for around $30 or more at the time.
It’s easier for me to go on Craigslist or similar to look specifically for an item.
I’ve been living in a Nat’l Forest for the past 20 something yrs. A few months ago I moved to town. I had no neighbors or anything. long drive to anywhere, etc.
Now, I have neighbors and can go to the store without having to make plans and the like. Oh… and have cable for the first time in ages, lol.
I love to yard sale. Estate sales can be fun. I have been avoiding stopping though because I have too much stuff. I need to have the yard sale to make room. I don’t like pricing stuff so I may end up donating instead. (As I browse online, shopping )
I don’t yard sale unless I see something I like from the road, but I have a good friend who does the estate sales. He seems to really like it.

I like them. Wife hates them.

I’ve never really done them but now that I live in civilization, I may give it a go. Prob only for resale tho.
@lseeber when you weren’t living in civilization, what do you mean? Like when you lived in the jungle like Tarzan?

None of the folks holding yard sales were selling their yard. FALSE ADVERTISING!!
Same goes to those having garage sales.
