@therealjrn Oh, he speaks!
You are very sweet in thinking I am sweet! Heh!
You have wonderful intentions but there are many, who have been members longer and and are higher in the pecking order.
I respect the pecking order.
I am patient and can wait for this honor until then.
Are you doing well, have not talked to you in awhile? Taking care I hope.
@Calabama Oh, ok I suppose. I’m still operating at 25% or so. It’s a chore just to get up and about. But other than a feeling of malaise, I can’t specify any single symptom. I’m supposed to see my primary care doc this coming Monday.
I’m winding down on all the antibiotics and antifungal oral meds so I haven’t felt as queezy.
I’ve got a trial subscription to HelloFresh I bought from Groupon so at least I’m eating more than microwave pizza and hamburgers. I think that helps, to eat a little better than I have been. It’s a little bit of prep, chopping this, coating that, etc. But they’re designed to be dead drop easy.
@therealjrn
I can understand your being tired, your body went through a lot in a relatively short time. You had not felt good in awhile. We ignore our bodies sometime.
Yes eating better will make you get and feel better. I tried Blue Apron. Some were very good. I have a coupon for Hello Fresh, might try them. I enjoyed eating “different” foods.
They say it is quick but I found it took a little longer.
Some meds can make you sick if you do not eat. Some just mess with my tummy.
I’ve been on bp med for long time. You can manage it. Less salt, more water. Exercise, walking. Breathing exercises can lower bp.
Mine was up last time, go back next week. Been working on it.
It’s a process but you gotta do it! It will get better. When doc found my thyroid problems it took awhile before I got better but I did and you will too.
@Calabama Yeah, you’re right. “Theoretically” they take 30 minutes. But I used to cook in a professional kitchen so sure, it’s a simple matter with these of having your recipe down, pans heated, oven heated, etc. I usually have to study the recipe card, figure out what I need prepped so it does takes me longer than their estimates. But I also know their estimates aren’t that far off.
Walk into the kitchen, turn on what you need, get your pans ready. Start washing and prepping, get shit going…but who does that? I don’t have the energy for that right now, but it isn’t their fault. Everything they have sent me has been fresh…excepting a zucchini that was sketchy.
A good home cook like you doesn’t probably need the hand-holding of these subscription meal services. Hell, I know I probably don’t either. But right now, at this stage, I like them.
I’ve been sick and not feeling good for months though. As noted before, I haven’t been “myself” for quite a while. Hopefully I’m on the mend.
I’ve got yet another condo under contract here. It’s my hope that Julie and the grandkids will come stay here while they stage/market their current home. That’s something I’ve been trying to keep top-of-mind to spur me into trying to stay with all you people. Otherwise, I’m just ready to lay it down most days.
@therealjrn
I knew you were not feeling good. I told you it would be good for you when you mentioned about Julie and the grands. Then ya cussed me. You said, shit.
Days would be endless if it were not for my son.
Lying down is not an option.
You and I have been through a lot and you know how that makes us feel. They would feel like that.
People want you and need you in their lives, Hell, I do!
This is new, you are adjusting. It will take time. You are heading in the right direction, with new goals. Culinary skills being used again!
New project with Julie and those babies!
We have that German blood, we’re tough!
Am always here for you. Here or over yonder way.
Email helps here, when I finally turned the notices on.
@Calabama Shit. I probably cuss too fucking much. So sorry, don’t take it personally please.
This new condo project is interesting to me. Motivated seller, buyer with some cash = a pretty good deal. I can’t complain. He’s selling it for far under market. It is my first straight-up deal though.
Since I’m doing it “on-the-cheap” when Julie gets in there, she can be my tester for everything. She knows this and is happy to be my tester.
It’s move-in ready, so she’s already been onsite trying everything out. It has a fireplace, which is nice, but neither she or I know much about fireplaces. I know a little, like they are energy wasters and require chimney upkeep…but I don’t know…we’re thinking to perhaps convert it to a gas logs thing.
@therealjrn I’m glad its getting better, even though its not completely gone. My husband and I just looked at Hello Fresh. (On Groupon!). Have you found it to be worth the money? Sorry I know this isn’t about goathood.
@mehbee It’s worth it for me, at this time. That being said, one could certainly put together the meals for less. But it is nice to be exposed to new recipes, and it forces me to eat better.
In terms of convenience for fresh, home cooked meals, they can’t be beat. They only ask you to have a few minimal pantry items on hand.
In terms of cooking skill, they aren’t too demanding. I’m more of a Racheal Ray than a Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen so it’s been a good fit so far.
In terms of kitchen equipment, I would imagine most folks have the pots and pans needed. A sharp knife, cutting board, a grater, a micro planer, a peeler, stuff like that are needed. So far I haven’t needed my food processor or mixer.
I vote give it a whirl. Be sure to stay on top of your upcoming meals otherwise they choose for you. It seems a little relentless but you can stop it/pause it at any time.
@Calabama hehhe first… I read this wrong:
“I am patient and can wait for this honor until then.”
I read it as “I am patient and can wait for this horror until then.”
Second, if you don’t want to turn on notifications, you can click on your name, which will take you to your profile page and you can see all the mentions and comments and such related to your name! (sometimes the emails get overwhelming!!)
Just butting in… I think you would make a great goat!
@mikibell
When I joined I turned all notifications off. I do not like sounds to notify me.
I was used to being on a sports site, emails meant trolls that I would have to fire back at!
I kept seeing people refer to emails and no one really attacks me, so I turned it all back on.
I don’t do notification sounds, I’ll see it when I see it.
I have my phone set up to only ring for my contacts. Others can leave a message or text. Or hang up, unsatisfied!
Thank you for believing that one day I would make a good goat. Heh
Ahh, man! I don’t understand the whole goat thing, but I have been liking your boat posts! You need to continue those! And maybe include some good bluewater sailboats!
@moonhat island packet for you today. Goats is an odd meh thing. Someone will find the official explination link. Theoretically the scapegoat gets all the blame of anyyhing that goes wrong. It is a one month sentence and then the next month another member gets it. Goats react differently to it. I will probably still post random boat of day just not every day.
Such “impulse” purchases may be coming to an end for me, though. I like the new blanks, but I don’t like the new pricing structure, as I rarely buy just one shirt.
@narfcake Thanks Narf, I usually just buy one at a seldom time, so the new price looks to be a little higher for me. The new Port & Co blank might work better for me too.
There’s been very very very very very very little praise for Anvil’s sleeves on the men’s shirts. My pic in the comments there show why.
Companies use them because they’re among the lowest cost for combed/ring-spun. The “does the customer like them?” isn’t a factor when it comes to numbers – until there’s not enough customers left.
@narfcake It might slow me down too, come to think of it. I had an $11 print-to-order shirt in my cart for a few days until I found something else on Sellout to order to get the combined shipping.
I don’t know if I would have ordered it as a stand-alone…hmm.
But yeah, I was hooked with well printed designs on US made shirts for $10. It’s getting a little lot harder to justify impulse buying okay printing (because DTG) on imported shirts for $15. It’s not a horrible price (compared to elsewhere), but it’s not a “wow” price by any means either.
ETA: At the current pricing, multiple purchases of Canvas on one order easily brings it down to under $12-13/each; still justifiable.
Side note: I’ve still yet to wear my copy of Moar Coffee Everywhere, and yet would want first dibs should you ever decide to sell your copy.
@Kidsandliz Almost all their shirts are DTG printed-to-order nowadays. Since the last big round of QC issues, I haven’t had any print issues. @ACraigL is still cursed, however.
@narfcake Thanks for that info. Right now however I need to focus on paying vet bills and not buying wants unfortunately. My sick little kitty is starting to improve but it has been expensive to get there.
So… I hadn’t paid much attention to the whole goat thing, but a confluence of existential coincidences has brought me here tonight. First, of late, my wife has been oddly obsessed with baby goat videos. Actually she showed me a couple, and I can definitely see the charm. But I digress. Second, and probably more to the point, @Kidsandliz and @narfcake mentioned me, and Meh emailed me to excitedly tell me the news. Well, the excitedly part I may be reading into. Meh is mostly meh in their emails. But anyway, here I am. I have no idea why.
@shahnm dont worry you look like yoy will escape this month. @acraigl looks like he will have to design us t shirts full of goats and maybe a boat tshirt for me.
@CaptAmehrican me too me too on the boat t-shirt provided it is a sailboat - although I do admit I do like some of the work boats - which reminds me you haven’t done a good work boat yet. Depending on the era a Skipjack would work or or something else more “modern”…
Has @ACraigL served his goatdom yet?
@CaptAmehrican Nope.
@CaptAmehrican Evidence: @ACraigL wanted us to Join the Mehvolution, in which he got first place:
https://shirt.woot.com/offers/join-the-mehvolution?ref=meh_com
@narfcake @ACraigL That is a great shirt, I can’t believe there weren’t enough mehtizens buying it to keep it in the Top 20.
@2many2no Thanks! Yeah, I was hoping it had enough staying power, but alas, it was not to be.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ACraigL hey you bettrr get folks voting or you goat starting at midnight
@CaptAmehrican It’s coming for him…
Or an inflated goat @pooltoywolf
@CaptAmehrican Meep! -squeaks-
Or perhaps a lovable goat @Calabama?

@therealjrn
Hey. Hang in there, ok?
I’m glad you will be hanging out with your family. Maybe being all together will help you with your health stuff.
@therealjrn I’m glad its getting better, even though its not completely gone. My husband and I just looked at Hello Fresh. (On Groupon!). Have you found it to be worth the money? Sorry I know this isn’t about goathood.

@f00l “My health stuff” has taken a big hit this last year. Thanks for putting up with me.
@therealjrn
I have a different gif, but it would earn a finger wagging here, so I’ll just PM it to you.

@Calabama Oh you will, my dear, you will. MUHAHAHA!
@therealjrn Are there any months which are longer than 31 days?
@therealjrn
January has 31 days. A week has 7 days. Today’s the 23rd.
/8ball Blame the goat?
Yes definitely
/roll 8d6
You rolled a total of 28
@narfcake You’re just upset you didn’t post the nomination thread for February, Narf.
@therealjrn Posting nomination threads is equal opportunity. I just needed a good reason to blame the goat.
@narfcake i have done a good job of distracting people from blame by constantly posting pretty boats. Boats beat blame.
@narfcake Ha! Ha!
Ahh, man! I don’t understand the whole goat thing, but I have been liking your boat posts! You need to continue those! And maybe include some good bluewater sailboats!
@moonhat If @CaptAmehrican is to continue posting boats, does that mean you’re nominating her for a second month?
@moonhat island packet for you today. Goats is an odd meh thing. Someone will find the official explination link. Theoretically the scapegoat gets all the blame of anyyhing that goes wrong. It is a one month sentence and then the next month another member gets it. Goats react differently to it. I will probably still post random boat of day just not every day.
Considering February is missing days we should just extend the January goat till we get a month with more days.
@darkzrobe or even a year with more days. Ya think? (she says safely already having been goat )
Second Goathood in a row?
Vote for @CaptAmehrican !!!
@ELUNO no! Also will be out of country and offline for 10 days mid month
@CaptAmehrican Being goat is more important than anything else! You can blame yourself for not going.
@ELUNO would make a good repeat goat. Spider goat spider goat
@CaptAmehrican You are safe - “rules” is goat once and you are done.
@CaptAmehrican nooooooooooo
@Kidsandliz Can’t people just change the rules and blame the goat?
My garage door remote needs batteries. I did NOT look in the refrigerator. Hi, @shahnm!
@narfcake Well look in the refrigerator, you idiot! That’s where the batteries are. Have you learned nothing?!?
@shahnm
https://shirt.woot.com/offers/i-haz-the-dumb?ref=meh_com
@narfcake I actually had bought that one for my oldest son when it first came out.
@shahnm First sucker here for the design.
Such “impulse” purchases may be coming to an end for me, though. I like the new blanks, but I don’t like the new pricing structure, as I rarely buy just one shirt.
@narfcake
What does they do re pricing?
@f00l
https://shirt.woot.com/blog/post/a-new-year-a-new-shirt-woot
@narfcake Thanks Narf, I usually just buy one at a seldom time, so the new price looks to be a little higher for me. The new Port & Co blank might work better for me too.
@therealjrn Most likely it will.
@narfcake
I’m now way out of their target customer group. Unless they have some killer sales.
Too bad so sad. : (
@narfcake
@f00l While I’m not out, this will definitely makes me rethink my purchases.
@therealjrn One other major factor with shirt.woot is that they inherently rely on Woot customers first – which also isn’t growing.
@narfcake It might slow me down too, come to think of it. I had an $11 print-to-order shirt in my cart for a few days until I found something else on Sellout to order to get the combined shipping.
I don’t know if I would have ordered it as a stand-alone…hmm.
@therealjrn Yeah, I’ve been that way too. Keep a shirt or two in the cart until something else shows up.
Besides rethinking about a shirt, this will make me LESS apt to look for stuff at the other subsites.
@narfcake
In the beginning the shirts were wonderfully cheap, and I just bought them as I wished.
Then I bought them in bunches, on sale, to save on shipping.
Now? Kinda no way. I’d have to think some shirt was the ultimate shirt in the known universe to buy at those prices.
Goodwill and the Salvation Army are my friends.
And it’s not like I need t-shirts.
@f00l Impawsible and purrposterous!
But yeah, I was hooked with well printed designs on US made shirts for $10. It’s getting a

Side note: I’ve still yet to wear my copy of Moar Coffee Everywhere, and yet would want first dibs should you ever decide to sell your copy.
@narfcake
I would offer you first dibs on anything I decided to offload.
You don’t have a Moar Coffe"?
Many of my shirts are anvil.
It took me a while to convince myself how bad they were.
@f00l No, I do. I’ve just yet to wear it!
Anvil t-shirt + scissors = tank top. At least my armpits won’t be pinched. I’m old and DGAF; it can’t make me look any worse, y’know!
@narfcake This is one I want
https://shirt.woot.com/offers/all-is-calm
but with the complaints that the made to order shirts have the ink coming off I don’t want to throw away my money.
@narfcake you’re old?
@RiotDemon I’m old enough to feel old.
Maybe @shahnm should be nominated. Likely s/he’d be the energizer goat with all those batteries waiting for use in the fridge.
@Kidsandliz

@shahnm Well, you’re not the goat … yet. And it’s not looking like you will have enough votes to become the February scapegoat.
The good news is that there’s always next month!
@shahnm
Load up on batteries. JIC…
@shahnm dont worry you look like yoy will escape this month. @acraigl looks like he will have to design us t shirts full of goats and maybe a boat tshirt for me.

After Jan, keep going on the boats pls. Not every day, that would be tiresome.
Just whenever the hell you feel like it.
@f00l She feels like it three times a day.
