Learn how to make a triangle without stabbing yourself △
10I’ve always kind of enjoyed geometry. I liked it so much, I took it twice in high school! Or maybe that was because I failed it the first time. Maybe I haven’t always enjoyed it. But nowadays, I am pretty fascinated by Euclidean (compass & straightedge) constructions. Somehow, I stumbled across Euclidea the other day, and have been having a blast with it. Just a bunch of ‘puzzles’ using Euclidean constructions. And you don’t even have to accidentally poke a hole in yourself with a compass. I figure there has to be at least one other meh-dweller who would find this slightly compelling. Who doesn’t love a good equilateral triangle?

I’m all about not stabbing myself, but I’m afraid this may hurt my brain instead.
It looks great, wish I was geometrically inclined.
Phil Jackson might be able to use this…
this take a little patience, given the language: square root #1
and then #2
Anyone liking these constructions might be interested in the free tool (can be downloaded, or just used in a web page) :

It’s a combination of geometry and algebra, if that’s not totally obvious from the name.
E.g., most people are familiar with the 3-4-5 right triangle. But, …, what are the measures of the two acute angles in one? To find out, you could drag out your old scientific or graphing calculator and use a little high school trigonometry, or, you could just use Geogebra to draw one, and then use it to measure the angles directly!
Thought I’d mention this wonderful web site for anyone not already aware of it.
I find this interesting, and @miraclewhispers will also (she is becoming a math teacher and very possibly a geometry teacher after she graduates college in 13 days).
I’ll have to remember to look at these websites later, but for now, I need to get back to fixing stuffs at home. (UPS died and took an external RAID array with it, so a bunch of things that run on this machine, including my Plex Media Server, are down. I’m going to try jerry rigging another power supply for the RAID tower, in hopes that it is just its power supply that died.)
@baqui63 Best of luck — potential data losses are never fun to sort through.
Thanks @brhfl, tho I decided to play with triangles, etc. instead of dealing with the drive. This is quite addicting and the ones with multiple solutions can be quite challenging.
I’m not worried about data loss, as I have good backups. But restoring is a lot more work than merely replacing a power supply.
