Website for the 2023 Annular Eclipse event. If you collect the limited availability merchandise from NASA, this is orderable through Friday, September 1st.
Eclipse viewing glasses are available for order also.
@phendrick Well, then you’d probably want to aliquot that carefully. I do work in a lab and get to learn all the fun words. Stop trying to take away my funny.
More info for the Oct. 14, 2023 annular (partial) solar eclipse: follow the path of most complete eclipse at https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com/
Inside the shadow of the animation, people will see the “fire ring”; outside it they will see a crescent of the sun (that includes e.g. as far away as Dallas, which is far to the left of the path shown in the animation).
If observing, be sure to protect your eyes. Ordinary sunglasses are NOT sufficient to prevent possible damage!
The eclipse coming on next April 8 will be total (for those in the right places).
Instead of annular eclipse, could they please make it an annual eclipse, so I can start remembering to watch it?
I think it would fit in with Election Tuesday in November, if not already overbooked. I can usually remember that.
They could probably license this logo to advertise it:
@phendrick That looks more like an analar eclipse.
@capnjb I think you are doing a play on “anal” there, but that is actually a definite chemistry term that goes somewhat in the other direction. Heh.

Cool. Looks like I’m not close to the path of either though.
@sammydog01 My area is along the path of totality for the Total eclipse in April.
ALL of the hotel rooms are fully booked already.
@earlyre @sammydog01 That reminds me to check what the university planetarium is offering for the eclipses. College towns have a few advantages.
@earlyre @OldCatLady @sammydog01 I’m close to an agricultural college. I think they have at least one plant terrarium.
