1x Laegendary Grando 1:10 Scale 4x4 Offroad RC SUV
328 feet of range. I’m sure that is a nice round number in non-freedom units, but how they came up with that figure is a mystery. If anyone buys one and has access to a football field. I’m curious if it really craps out within a foot of accuracy.
300 feet of range would have raised less eyebrows.
@caffeineguy Those are Marketing Feet, a measurement which is almost as flexible as the Marketing Lumens used for specifying the output of LED flashlights on Amazon and eBay.
Here’s the 23 I found, they’re in the order I found them.
While I included the Chrysler “Town” & Country I didn’t count it because it’s really a minivan.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Toyota Grand Highlander
Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Ford Escape
Honda Passport
Ford Endeavour
Nissan Rogue
Honda Pilot
Hyundai Tucson
Klassen “Optimum” GLS
Toyota RAV4
Lincoln Navigator
Jeep Compass
Honda Crossroad
Chevy Traverse
Chevy Suburban
GMC Acadia
KIA Telluride
Ford Expedition
GMC Yukon
Ford Edge
Volkswagen Atlas
Dodge Durango
This one probably doesn’t count, it’s really a minivan.
Chrysler “Town” & Country
This is a beautiful luxury SUV, I’d LOVE those back seats if I had a chauffeur. Heck, who am I kidding… I’d LOVE to have it to drive MYSELF! My friends could enjoy the back seats!
@madanthony@yeppers and Chevy Blazer…that this little thing is trying to mimic exactly. But also Ford Bronco…not sure how you missed the two biggest selling “SUVs” of all time?
@suprchunk - "I’m no trailblazer!” I might call foul if it was Scrabble but I guess that could pass here. Where did you see Bronco though, I can’t even find it anywhere?
Oh, to be a kid again, but with rich parents this time.
Seriously, let me know when this is available in a 2:1 scale instead of 1:10. There’s this dude that comes by randomly but often with his “music” at construction job site levels and then guns his truck engine apparently into glass pack mufflers. I need something to run interference and by remote control and with no license plates would be excellent.
I have gobs of money burning in my wood stove right now, helping to keep the chill off of my toesies in their organic merino wool slippers, while sipping a half-full (and half-warm) cup of leftover whole milk left by my toddler.
1:10 scale of a made up SUV doesn’t really give me any tangible sense of the dimensions. This would have been a product to use a banana or even a gasp baby arm for scale.
EDIT: I saw the measurements on the Amazon listing 9.xx" width, 21.xx" length, and 11.xx" height, but still what ever happened to the baby arm?
@ciabelle the fourth picture in the listing shows the actual dimensions… but it also references 2 batteries for twice the fun - but the specs say 1 battery. It’s hard to know what to believe anymore.
@Ignorant
Oh yeah, thanks! I like the baby’s arm! Im thinking not everyone felt that way about it though, some might find that creepy.
So why and when did you switch to the banana?
a brushed motor with wound wire coils that function as a 2-pole electromagnet
That… could have been replaced with “motor”.
“brushed”: the cheap, normal kind. Brushless would have been the surprise.
“wound wire coils”: Yup, how all electric motors work
“2-pole electromagnet”: That’s just a description of how physics works. Any other number, and I’d get one to take apart and show to the Nobel committee.
Read the complete write up for once. Wasn’t until I got to the Italian restaurant scene that I put together that they were name dropping throughout.
/image face palm
Wonder what the load capacity for this thing is. Maybe I could use it for shuffling 40 lb sacks of salt from the shop to the pool or 2 c ft bags of garden soil or mulch to the garden around our acre… without having to fire up the lawn mower and the trailer?
(Really honey, it’s a tool)
@Cofer@Maccaroney sorry you should get a Lipo. You can get them at Amazon. I’d recommend buy either a 2s or 3s to get even more power from the motor. Tattu, SMC, ZEEE are good lipo brands
@caalsio I was so excited to pull the trigger on this Grando I didn’t even look to see that monster truck on side deal. I pre buy for Christmas. My son thanks you.
The monster truck version on SideDeal has LiPo batteries, a lot more battery than the Nimh batteries here, and you for sure get 2 of them. This one is better for a “realistic” rock-crawling type experience, where as the other is more for just bashing around. Kinda makes me want both.
@danpritts probably but for a 1:10 scale crawler that can take a 3s lipo for $99 is still a steal. I got a mid range ($350) and pricy one ($1000) that is 1:8. I still bought this cause it’s a great deal
@chienfou yep, just got mine and the instruction manual mentions it can also use 2s/3s Lipo batteries (2 or 3 cell lithium polymer battery). It’s pretty comparable to my RedCat Everest Pro Gen 7

@thechinglish same
@icerc @thechinglish I guess me three …
/showme Three anthropomorphized goats named icerc, thechinglish, and cfg83 demanding to give five dollar bills to a stone statue of a god called meh.
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “Three anthropomorphized goats named icerc, thechinglish, and cfg83 demanding to give five dollar …”
@mediocrebot At least I can make crappy AI image jokes.
@thechinglish $9
@cfg83 hahaha, excellent
@cfg83 @icerc @thechinglish me four.

@KNmeh7
100 meters…
@chienfou @KNmeh7 OMG, it’s true. I am in fear of losing my feet.
@KNmeh7 And yet the photo says 500+ feet

Grando (probably not a real SUV but the model SUV being sold today)
Probably actual SUVs:
Escape
Excursion
Santa Fe
Explorer
Trailblazer
Passport
Endeavor
Rogue
Altitude (sort of? Jeep Compass Limited Altitude)
RAV4
Navigator
Compass
Crossroad
Tucson
Traverse
Suburban
Telluride
Acadia
Expedition
Yukon
Atlas
Durango
@yeppers You missed Pilot.
@madanthony Dang, you’re right!
@madanthony @yeppers
I think you missed the Klassen “Optimum”.

@madanthony @yeppers and Chevy Blazer…that this little thing is trying to mimic exactly. But also Ford Bronco…not sure how you missed the two biggest selling “SUVs” of all time?
@madanthony @suprchunk @yeppers
Actually, it’s a 1970s Ford B100 Carryall.
@madanthony @yeppers
@suprchunk - "I’m no trailblazer!” I might call foul if it was Scrabble but I guess that could pass here. Where did you see Bronco though, I can’t even find it anywhere?
@yeppers Why didn’t you list these in alphabetical order?
@Lynnerizer @madanthony @suprchunk @yeppers “Bronco” is in the 4th bullet point on the left. (Guess that’s part of the “write-up”.)
@madanthony @phendrick @suprchunk @yeppers
Oh yeah, thanks phendrick. I see it now.

I was thinking hidden “in the story” but it CLEARLY says in the write-up!
The first bullet:
Not an officially listened Canyonero toy?
Assuming a Simpson ref with the Canyonero, but not sure what listened refers too.
@wronkerville I think our writer meant licensed

@ciabelle
The baby arm must’ve been before my time.
I know of the banana though and you’re right, we haven’t seen a “banana for scale” in a while now!

@ciabelle the fourth picture in the listing shows the actual dimensions… but it also references 2 batteries for twice the fun - but the specs say 1 battery. It’s hard to know what to believe anymore.
@Lynnerizer this baby arm used to make it into many of the product photos here.

That… could have been replaced with “motor”.
But still somehow sounds more premium… Crap, how easily tricked am I by wordy feature lists in fields I don’t know about?
@dannyb
Very… That’s what they’re counting on!

@chienfou This is way, way too small to carry anything like that. lol However, the 1/6 scale Axial my dad has… It probably could.
@Maccaroney
shhh… my wife may see this!
Where do you get the extra battery connector and battery?
@Cofer Looks like it uses standard Deans connectors and 7.2V 6-cell NiMH battery that you can buy anywhere hobby parts are sold.
@Cofer You can get them at Amazon. I’d recommend buy either a 2s or 3s to get even more power from the motor. Tattu, SMC, ZEEE are good lipo brands

This looked so awesome that I had to buy it. We got the Laegendary bulldozer thing a few years ago and it was surprisingly high quality
POPSOCKETS! COURT DOCKETS! FOLK ROCK HITS! AWESOME!
There’s a Monster Truck version on SideDeal for the same price if anyone is interested.
@caalsio I was so excited to pull the trigger on this Grando I didn’t even look to see that monster truck on side deal. I pre buy for Christmas. My son thanks you.
@DJshakeNbake Youre welcome, shakeNbake jr.
@caalsio it’s more of a basher or truggy which is better and more fun for jumping it around
@Lil_Lobo When i saw it I did think “This doesn’t LOOK like a monster truck” but that’s what the listing said so I didn’t bother arguing about it lol
a virtual tip of the hat to the (human!) writer responsible for the ad copy
there’s no AI in existence that could have come up with the RAV4 reference
@visioneer_one I think most AIs would have more class than to stretch so far for a reference.
@macromeh @visioneer_one
Ugh, AIs don’t have class.
Missed opportunity to try to work in the Palisade with a simple
“Hey, Pal,” I said
at the start.
Battery Connector sold seperately

Hmmm …
/showme Laegendary Grando Offroad RC SUV is at Hobby school looking at it’s report card.
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “Laegendary Grando Offroad RC SUV is at Hobby school looking at it s report card.”
@mediocrebot Wow, Laegendary is smarter than I thought.
based on my experience with RC cars, you are probably going to break it.
They are usually made to be repairable - but getting the parts can be a bitch for no-name brands.
Local hobby shops carry parts for the brands they sell. That is the real service that they provide.
@danpritts probably but for a 1:10 scale crawler that can take a 3s lipo for $99 is still a steal. I got a mid range ($350) and pricy one ($1000) that is 1:8. I still bought this cause it’s a great deal

Stupid company name so I’m a no on this one dog
@dpease I think you’d never buy a modern RC car cause they all have some stupid names (Traxxas, Arrma, WLToys, HyperGo, Haiboxing, Losi, RedCat)
@Lil_Lobo I think you’re right about that!
The fact that they included a fireproof pouch for charging the battery is a hilarious but great touch…
All companies should do that these days.
