@jjohns71 Here's what you do (be sure to write this down for future reference): Step 1. Buy this Kindle. Step 2. Go to a body of water. Step 3. Find a dock at said body of water. Step 4. Sit on said dock on said body of water. Step 5. Play some sort of noise from the aforementioned Kindle on the aforementioned dock on the aforementioned body of water. And just like that you have a speaker dock.
@spacezorro I bought them when they were 2 for Tuesday, and I absolutely love it. The functionality is great and it's 1000x better than my old reader. Since I've gotten it, I've used it every single day. So if you're looking for a good reader with a bunch of other options, then I think this is a pretty good deal.
@Cinoclav Yes I know you were funning with me. It sure did look odd!! My grammor is not good but that was horrid! SmileWhen technology works it is wonderful but it sure can make one appear rather silly when you don't correct it.
Can we be price protected? Surely everyone who paid us less before should cough up some cash because we raised the price! I mean clearly we set the market here.
My original kindle has served my incredibly well for the low price of free, but I really wish it had a backlight. Wait, I ordered 3 of those headlamps what am I saying?
@WilhelmScreamer Yeah, but I am not afraid to take my original keyboard Kindle to the beach or pool. Headlamps (and never stressing about a charger) for the win!
@shawn Do any of these positions simply require pressing F5 repeatedly, if so I am your man. I am also willing to drink F5 from Marshall's if required.
I am thinking about getting this for my wife for Christmas.. But I'm worried that there will be a better tablet with a great deal sometime between then and now.. I'll have to make a decision soon I guess..
I got a couple last time they were the two-fer. I absolutely love it, BUT I have to warn that I'm not using as it was intended. I have a grudge against Kindle and the jerky way they have trampled customer rights in the past, so I took measures to cut amazon out of the operation of this tablet (avoided registration, disabled market, sideload everything) and it's great. It takes a little diligence but it can be done.
@mechno tell me more about customer rights trampling, or not, but I agree with you that this is a great tablet. I am using it as intended and I quite enjoy it. While it's not as nice as our iPad mini, it made up for that by being much nicer on the wallet.
BTW, how do you get these products in such a low price? It's not even discontinued model. You guys are selling this for $140 (or 2 for $230 in the past) and still making some profits. Wow!
@ccyoun I still wonder if Meh is making any money on many of the deals, as a marketing ploy to build their user base. Cool by me so I can scoop all the deals being an early adopter.
Why must you have the more awesome deal when my bank account can least afford something awesome? Well, I guess I get another "Meh" click to add to my collection, so that's something at least.
@mwarren Eh, I'm an older model. 68" tower, single chip, self cooling and mobile with HD optics. The benchmark for intelligence wavers depending on who is running the test. I can perform one task at a time. Multitasking results in less than optimum output and a possible shut down. Also, one input and two outputs.
@JasonKim I think we missed out on some sweet deals on Windows tablets prior to the last Surface release. As we grow we'll definitely be in hunting mode - that's the fun part!
@JasonKim you can go to woot any day and find these. While I know meh.com is a business and needs to make money, that last thing I want this site to do is turn into another crappy clearing house site.
@somf69 It's not like I spend my time carefully curating surveys on this topic, but it feels to me like there's been a lot of overlap between the Roombas here and the Roombas there and the Neatos here and the Neatos there and the Dysons here and the Dysons there and the Bluetooth speakers here and the Bluetooth speakers there and the batteries here and the batteries there and the wine glasses here and the wine glasses there and the security cameras here and the security cameras there and the Vornados here and the Vornados there and so on.
I got one of these when Meh was selling them for the same price back in mid-July. I also took the opportunity to finally take Amazon up on their offer for a free month trial of Prime. I haven't ordered anything from Amazon since then, so I'm not using the free shipping, but I've been enjoying the free streaming movies and TV shows.
I'm skeptical about the 11-hour battery life estimate. I haven't measured it, but it doesn't seem like I'm getting that much life with my "mixed use" of web browsing, videos, and game apps.
@mwarren I used Aurora for a while too, but it had some bugs that made me decide to switch to the release version. Such as the inability to install add-ons. I mean, you could go to the add-on market, but when you click the install button on one of them, it does nothing.
@Cinoclav Hahaha! The dictation feature of iphone strikes again! That should have been “Tell them” and I didn’t intend to spell the word PERIOD either. I haven’t ever made the 12 EST launch of the new product before. It was late for me. I had stayed up reading the “Fowl Mouth thread”, and thought well I am up and I should see what is up for today. That is the last thing I said before bed time. I shoulda double checked but (shrug) I did not. Grin! And I sure wish I could figure out how to reply instead of creating a new comment and I also can’t figure out how to star a comment.
@silverqueen There's a 'Reply' option below each message. As for the star, just click it! Pretty funny comment though, hope you know I was just messing with you.
@silverqueen: There's a star just to the left of the first line, and reply is on the line below each comment. On replies, the star is underneath the comment with the reply link. Apparently the screen reader doesn't recognize these links?
@Cinoclav My expirement worked. I had to switch to another screen reader and browser to finaly succede in activateing the reply link. I can't do it with IE or SAFARI. The bad part is this voice realy sucks! Still don't see the star link. I'll keep looking-listening. Smile
@spammie I haven't refreshed my memory but I believe screen is lower resolution, processor is less robust and capacity is half. it's been a while since I compared though.
I was a little skeptical about mine when I first got it, especially with having an iPhone and having played around on a couple iPads and enjoying them quite a bit. I think deep down I still want an iPad mini but I also don't want to spend $7000 (or however much they actually cost) to get one.
That said I've used my Kindle pretty much every day since I got it and sometimes I even work from it. I took it on the plane during my trip and used it for reading comics which was very nice. I've played games on it (Magic 2015) and even though every now and then I still feel the sting of envy wishing it was an iPad, I'm very happy with it especially for the price.

I hope Glen survives his encounter with that dinosaur...
Is it just my internet connections going bust or the meh servers? Meh.... long time loading the pages
@Enigma I have the same problem. I thought maybe there was a Mehrathon.
@heartny I couldn't get the front page to load for 15 minutes, I thought it was a Fukubuku.
@Enigma Thought perhaps there was some meh-hem and a Fukubuckaroo i was a missin'
@Enigma something went wrong with the server
@Enigma same trouble.. now Okay
@RicoSuave Something went terribly wrong.
It appears i can get the forums to load but not meh proper. Feels like the good ol' woot days! What excitment! err, I mean... meh
NEXT!
I wanted a speaker dock :(. Meh
@MEHcus Does that only work if this deal is offered on Fridays? Are there different instructions for other days of the week?
@jjohns71 Only time will tell my friend. Only time will tell.
@jjohns71
I couldn't get anything meh related to load for twenty minutes. What happened, Meh?
floral-disadvantaged-tinkerbell
Got mine!!!!
Do I want this?
@spacezorro Of course not.
I stayed up too late to see this one. I don't want one, but I know people that do. I'll tell him in the morning it's too late now. Period.
@silverqueen I'm confuzzled. Do you know 'people' or do you just know 'him'? Or is 'him' 'people'? Are there 'hims' or maybe just one 'person'?
@Cinoclav Yes I know you were funning with me. It sure did look odd!! My grammor is not good but that was horrid! SmileWhen technology works it is wonderful but it sure can make one appear rather silly when you don't correct it.
weren't these 2 for $229 recently?
@peterdsu $140 is a great price when the grand wizard of everything that is the internet is selling them for $229
@peterdsu https://meh.com/deals/2-for-tuesday---kindle-fire-hdx
Can we be price protected? Surely everyone who paid us less before should cough up some cash because we raised the price! I mean clearly we set the market here.
@snapster I promised my wife I would get here one the next time you were selling them, thanks for coming through for me...
@peterdsu It was a hoax. They were pulling a joke on everyone.
I'm torn
My original kindle has served my incredibly well for the low price of free, but I really wish it had a backlight. Wait, I ordered 3 of those headlamps what am I saying?
@WilhelmScreamer Yeah, but I am not afraid to take my original keyboard Kindle to the beach or pool. Headlamps (and never stressing about a charger) for the win!
You animals rushed to the site at midnight so hard after these Kindles that it made the CPU usage across the web farm shoot through the roof.
Also a good time for me to plug that we have developer, devops, and sysadmin positions open if you're in the Dallas area: https://meh.com/jobs
@shawn no telecommute? meh.
@shawn I am not any of those things, nor am I in Dallas. But I like what you all have going on over there, so you can employ me if you find me useful.
@shawn Do any of these positions simply require pressing F5 repeatedly, if so I am your man. I am also willing to drink F5 from Marshall's if required.
@shawn My resume
@shawn Your server farms of C64s running the BASIC version of Apache recovered pretty nicely.
@caffeine_dude Isn't hit it supposed to be in there somewhere too?
I am thinking about getting this for my wife for Christmas.. But I'm worried that there will be a better tablet with a great deal sometime between then and now.. I'll have to make a decision soon I guess..
Does the Kindle Fire have a built in GPS? Could it be used with GPS apps or am I better off buying a standard Android Tablet instead?
@Stallion you can always root the kindle fire. there are many developers working on it over at xda forums
@Stallion It does not have gps.
@frmorrison Thanks for the heads up
@butwhyper Rooting a device does not add hardware.
Sorry, I thought just having Google Maps was enough for "GPS" as it is possible to root and get Google Maps on the Kindle Fire.
i dont need a third one
@CrossIT Yes, yes you do. Meh.
Power button is on the back. Meh
@KannedFarU It's on the backside!
I got a couple last time they were the two-fer.
I absolutely love it, BUT I have to warn that I'm not using as it was intended. Got this a few weeks back when it was 2 for $230, only use it for e-books and e-mail but it's really good for both.
BTW, how do you get these products in such a low price? It's not even discontinued model.
You guys are selling this for $140 (or 2 for $230 in the past) and still making some profits. Wow!
@ccyoun: The profit part may be questionable. Their last accountant ... well, let's not speak of what happened.
@ccyoun I still wonder if Meh is making any money on many of the deals, as a marketing ploy to build their user base. Cool by me so I can scoop all the deals being an early adopter.
@ccyoun They lose money on every deal, but they make up for it with volume.
@parodymandotcom Your maths are wonky
Why must you have the more awesome deal when my bank account can least afford something awesome? Well, I guess I get another "Meh" click to add to my collection, so that's something at least.
I'll hold out for another 2 for $230 deal.
who wants this shit! wait for apple event on 9, sep
@josephkim
@caffeine_dude wow dude an xtranormal video! you sure showed him!! :^)
@caffeine_dude I don't care!
if 2 for $230. I will buy :)
Hearasy! Thou doth protest against The Cult during their bated watch for the next great revelation!? How ... meh. Oh, and does this work with a Mac?
@mwarren My Kindle works fine with me.
@mwarren I've got a Paperwhite, so much better at actual reading. And works well with a Mac (Calibre)
@Mac454 Oooo... a Mac 454! Haven't heard of that model before; specs?
@mwarren Eh, I'm an older model. 68" tower, single chip, self cooling and mobile with HD optics. The benchmark for intelligence wavers depending on who is running the test. I can perform one task at a time. Multitasking results in less than optimum output and a possible shut down. Also, one input and two outputs.
Oh why stop there Meh? What about Windows tablets or Blackberry tablets? You can do much better than Kindle Fire HDX.
@JasonKim I think we missed out on some sweet deals on Windows tablets prior to the last Surface release. As we grow we'll definitely be in hunting mode - that's the fun part!

@editorkid I've bought more here on the past 2 months than I have at the other place and that's because they have offered some different crap
The built-in browser, Silk, does not have AdBlock or private browsing, so I side-loaded Firefox:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest/android/multi/
I'm skeptical about the 11-hour battery life estimate. I haven't measured it, but it doesn't seem like I'm getting that much life with my "mixed use" of web browsing, videos, and game apps.
@Doodpants I sideloaded too, but using the Aurora release channel to get automatic browser updated.
@mwarren I used Aurora for a while too, but it had some bugs that made me decide to switch to the release version. Such as the inability to install add-ons. I mean, you could go to the add-on market, but when you click the install button on one of them, it does nothing.
Meh should sell cases for these things since so many of you have bought one from Meh.
@Cinoclav Hahaha! The dictation feature of iphone strikes again! That should have been “Tell them” and I didn’t intend to spell the word PERIOD either. And between my screen reader and IE 11 I can't edit a flipping word either!!! UGH Slapp forehead!!!
Meh.
Can't decide between this @ $140 or (limited time) previous gen certified refurbished 8.9" HD Kindle Fire @ $129:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AFKCBQQ/ref=kods_xs_dp_dotd
Thoughts & comments would be appreciated.
@spammie Don't get the 8.9" HD. Too old for the price.
@nfi Thanks for your reply. Can you elaborate on differences? Specs didn't seem too different to me.
@spammie I haven't refreshed my memory but I believe screen is lower resolution, processor is less robust and capacity is half. it's been a while since I compared though.
That 2 for Tuesday offer?....NEVER HAPPENED...IT WAS AN NSA INTERCEPT GONE AWRY..AND I WAS NEVER HERE.
@nfi
Been considering acquiring a tablet for a while now since it would be nice for flying. Couldn't pass up a good deal on a non-apple option.
I was a little skeptical about mine when I first got it, especially with having an iPhone and having played around on a couple iPads and enjoying them quite a bit. I think deep down I still want an iPad mini but I also don't want to spend $7000 (or however much they actually cost) to get one.

And I'm glad I could add my 2 cents as we sell out and this becomes useless.
@JonT Way to be sure you're not unduly biasing purchases.
@JonT
Really guys, you sold out with 260? I would've thought you stocked a lot more 'em.
I was able to get one of these but does anyone know if these have the advertisement lock thingie on them?
@guero810 Yes, these are the ones with Amazon Offers. (Which we like, they have some pretty solid deals.)
Amazon Lightning Deal is now $159.
